I’m sure that’s how the church views him and things would have had to change differently had she lived but I still think he’d have found a way. Probably once she’d remarried.

paradyning · 02/01/2020 21:12

Just watching the Sound of Music for the millionth time and twice in 2 days. Ahem. Anyway.
I think Kate's wedding dress is much more similar to Maria Von Trapp's than the the oft cited Princess Grace of Monaco's.
The way the skirt flows and pleats at the back and the bodice and neckline are all very similar.

itswinetime · 02/01/2020 21:22

I'm not sure what would have happened if Diana has lived but I agree things would have been a lot harder for Charles and Camilla. But then I think so many things would be different. Loosing your mother so Young is life changing I'm sure but adding to that being expected to go out in public and shake hands with the public and walk behind the coffin listening to the sobbing. It must have change who William and Harry are as people.

On a side note those type photos of Diana always been creepy but now that William and nearly Harry are older than she was when she died it adds a whole new level for me.

QueenOfTheAndals · 02/01/2020 22:25

Oh poor Estelle!

OP posts:
itswinetime · 02/01/2020 22:27

Oh bless her poor thing!

Rhubarbisevil · 02/01/2020 22:27

Ouch!

WineOrGinOrBoth · 03/01/2020 06:32

Oh poor thing. Hope it doesn’t put her off.

banivani · 03/01/2020 09:10

Oh kids with parents well-off enough and culturally inclined to ski break limbs all the time. My son suffered a fracture as a toddler and at the (children's) hospital they had a detailed map of the Swedish mountains on the wall, with pins on places from which they'd had patients. It was bristling. Later we went skiing and I have seen these youngsters hurtling down the slopes. She'll be back up and at it soon probably.

CPV is however not going to Ari Behn's funeral because of this, the papers say.

QueenOfTheAndals · 03/01/2020 09:14

I'm sure we'll soon see a photo of Estelle, leg in cast, giving a cheery wave to onlookers. She seems that sort of child!

banivani · 03/01/2020 09:25

I sound so unsympathetic I just realised. I do feel for her, it must have hurt horribly and been scary too, probably. But I agree with Queen, she seems remarkably cheery and resilient!

QueenOfTheAndals · 03/01/2020 11:55

Archie's hat has been a hit!

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 03/01/2020 11:57

Ditto his Boden jacket, sold out in hours.

BlingLoving · 03/01/2020 12:08

Just checking in as have been away and only checking occasionally with no time to post. Happy new year everyone! Archie is adorable, but then, that's hardly a surprise! Grin.

I got a "breaking news alert" on Twitter about Estelle. Had brief moment of real worry because didn't a European royal die from a skiing accident a few years ago? he was in a coma or something and eventually passed away? Talk about SM click bait. Was so relieved it was just a broken leg and as I know from when DS broke his arm, apparently children's bones are relatively quick to fix.

Looking forward to Kate and Meghan being back at work in January and some new outfits to see! Also interested in new projects. It's clear with William's climate change thing and Kate and the hints about bigger projects for early years that they're actually working in a slightly more similar style to Meghan and Harry these days. I like it. I know the naysayers complain that we never see them, they're workshy etc but these sort of projects for me show that they ARE doing stuff in the background. We don't have to visibly see them doing so every day.

[possibly biased as spent every morning of my holiday doing a bit of work to keep my clients happy and onside and frankly, could do with a bit more appreciation for it!]

beanaseireann · 03/01/2020 12:23

Blingloving
I think it was the Netherland's King's brother, Prince Friso who died after a skiing accident.
So both Maxima and Willem have both lost siblings too soon. Sad

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 03/01/2020 12:55

I love that story behind the hat @QueenOfTheAndals
I hope it encourages more community knotting groups to spring up in NZ. What a lovely idea,
“Knitting for mental health”

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 03/01/2020 14:18

It was featured on the lunchtime news. Lovely story and ethos. It's another "buy one give one" enterprise.

Wetdogloveshubert · 03/01/2020 14:40

@BlingLoving, I feel you on the behind the scenes feeling! Holidays and out of hours doesn't stop clients needing whatever doing, and it's not visible work. It's great to see the royals' campaigning work continuing as it always has, just with more focus from beyond our borders (that goes for other RFs too).

TobyeBella · 03/01/2020 20:07

Saw this on Instagram, is this from the Christmas pudding making from a couple of weeks ago?

banivani · 03/01/2020 20:08

Oh god I’m sitting here bawling my eyes out watching Maud Angelica, only 16, giving a speech at her father’s funeral. www.vg.no/nyheter/meninger/i/70MgEB/talen-fra-ari-behns-16-aarige-datter-maud-angelica-kommer-til-aa-bli-sitert-og-brukt-i-mange-sammenhenger-i-aarene-som-kommer?utm_source=vgfront&utm_content=row-4

What a strong and courageous girl. Her mother is barely holding it together next to her.

QueenOfTheAndals · 03/01/2020 20:33

Those poor girls, and now they will forever associate Christmas with the death of their father.

OP posts:
banivani · 03/01/2020 21:27

It’s terrible. And yet she spoke a lot to all others who might be feeling suicidal and urged them to seek help instead, and only of love for her father. Very moving.

RomaineCalm · 03/01/2020 22:19

@TobyeBella I saw that one and thought it was from pudding day. There's always something nice about the photos with HM, PC, PW and PG.

I love the tartan trews that George is wearing but I really don't like the round collared shirts with piping that he's frequently seen wearing for formal occasions.

QueenOfTheAndals · 03/01/2020 22:27

There's something slightly odd about the composition of that photo that makes the royals look superimposed against a background.

OP posts:
myrtleWilson · 03/01/2020 22:39

Love PG's tartan trousers!
