I’m not sure it’s a whimsical addition 😱

I mean it’s still extremely poor taste given their position

QueenOfTheAndals · 02/01/2020 10:09

Yeah I'm with @AppleKatie, it's still in poor taste and "we are united with gratitude for your support and kindness" makes it seem like they are the victims.

I agree it's still poor taste! Making light of very serious issues. And yes painting themselves as the victims. I wasn't posting to justify the card just to clear up some confusion from when the card initially broke.

QueenOfTheAndals · 02/01/2020 10:27

The batshit Diana Facebook groups have truly spoiled us this Christmas. Here are some of their photoshopped offerings.

That is so wrong on so many levels.

AppleKatie · 02/01/2020 10:32

Shock who knew such batshittery existed how horrible

QueenOfTheAndals · 02/01/2020 10:37

Though I have to say that as someone who was a child in the 80s when Diana's stardom was at its peak, I do wonder what extra drama she'd have brought if she was still around today. Would she have faded into the background with a new family or would she have been the MiL from hell?

OP posts:
AppleKatie · 02/01/2020 11:30

She wouldn’t have faded into the background. She’d have understood the power of Instagram for sure.

Becles · 02/01/2020 11:32

@TracyBeakerSoYeah

I think in this day & age Japan should change the constitutional rules & allow a woman to inherit The Chrysanthemum Throne

I read somewhere that this was something that the allies put in place after the war. Beforehand women could inherit- need to check my sources though.

I'd settle for women not being excommunicated if they marry.

QueenOfTheAndals · 02/01/2020 11:35

There was talk for a while about their constitution being changed but then the emperor's brother had a son so the plans were shelved. It still doesn't explain the total absence of the Princess from all state occasions. I find that very odd as she can't be at school all the time!

OMG those Diana pics are utterly bonkers!!!

Horsemad · 02/01/2020 12:58

Eeek, those pics are crazy!!! 😮

WineOrGinOrBoth · 02/01/2020 13:03

Diana would not have faded into the background. She was a manipulator of the press & yes would have definitely understood Instagram.

MotherofPearl · 02/01/2020 13:27

Those Diana FB photos 😱

Lunde · 02/01/2020 13:37

Those Diana pics are rather creepy - especially the one with her in the clouds

SenecaFalls · 02/01/2020 14:41

I read somewhere that this was something that the allies put in place after the war. Beforehand women could inherit- need to check my sources though

The post-war changes limited the succession to male descendants of then Emperor Hirohito's father, but the change to allow only males to inherit happened earlier in the mid-1800s.

The post-war reforms introduced by the allies did include women's suffrage, however.

QueenOfTheAndals · 02/01/2020 15:50

When in doubt ask @SenecaFalls!

Gosh, the media would have had a field day obsessing over the Diana, Kate, Meghan dynamic!

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 02/01/2020 19:23

gosh, the media would have had a field day obsessing over the Diana, Kate, Meghan dynamic!

And chuck Camilla into the mix!

AppleKatie · 02/01/2020 19:24

Gosh yes wouldn’t the christenings have been fun! Will she won’t she attend etc..

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 02/01/2020 19:29

Well hopefully if Diana had married again, was happy and potentially produced a few more children. All the animosity would have died down by the time the grandkids came along.

QueenOfTheAndals · 02/01/2020 20:04

Well there probably wouldn't have been a Camilla if Diana was still around! Not that she'd have been bumped off or anything like that but I doubt Charles would've married her, even if Diana had remarried.

OP posts:
AppleKatie · 02/01/2020 20:43

Do you think? I agree it would have taken longer but I’m sure it would of happened by now... don’t you think?

SenecaFalls · 02/01/2020 20:48

I think Diana's death actually set Charles's marriage plans with Camila back. If memory serves, his PR people had already started work on rehabilitating her in the eyes of the public but Diana's death put a fast halt to that.

Laiste · 02/01/2020 21:02

It's pure speculation but i don't think he would have married C if D had not died. I don't think he would have wanted to be a re-married monarch with an x wife hanging about.

As it was D&C were only divorced for barely a year before she died iirc. I wouldn't be surprised if he feels himself more to be a remarried widower rather than a remarried divorcee.
