The Japanese royals have also been commemorating the new year but it looks so stifling and old-fashioned with those white dresses. And why is the Emperor's daughter never at these occasions when his nieces always are? She's 18 now so it's not like she's a child.

I think I've seen you describe the Japanese court as stultifying @QueenOfTheAndals, and I think that about sums it up. Having said that, there are some amazing diamonds on display there, including tiaras.

I'm really not sure that's a smile from Charlene, more like an "Oh God, what DID I marry." look.

Charlene appears in the last few seconds of Albert's Christmas greeting and it's pure cringe. Also, she couldn't be bothered learning a few words of French for it? She's been married to him for nearly 10 years, you'd think she'd speak the language by now.

When is the six week break over? The problem with doing something like that is there's more focus on them for the "come back".

Yes there’s literally no reason for them not to- their cousins did it upon Williams marriage if not before.

So after all that fuss there was nothing wrong with the York's card. The dog's arse pic was just a whimsical addition on the back page. Typical misreporting from the media but it whipped up the negative reaction they were after.
