An article in Svensk Damtidning about 7 year old Princess Estelle of Sweden's "Queen School" and how she is being prepared for her future roll as Queen of Sweden. The Swede's are generally very keen on preparing those who will carry out official duties, Daniel and Sofia both went through "Prince/Princess school" before marrying into the Swedish Royal family that included studies/mentoring in the workings of the Royal Household, etiquette, diplomacy, history, languages and other subjects useful for representing Sweden.

Princess Estelle started very early and carried out her first official engagement at the age of 2. CPV has taken her to many engagements since then including when she helped host a tea for William and Kate when she was 5. This year she has been learning more about the workings of the Royal Household with visits to the Palace rooms that house the library, household files and official treasures.

Estelle is amazing! She manages to look interested and engaged even at events that most children her age would find dull.

I think Anne looks quite fab today! Liking her high boots too. Not sure I've seen her in those before and she really suits her hat.

DevonUkelele · 29/12/2019 20:37

Lady Louise too! A less voluminous coat, in a nice colour ✅ Hair styled (simple plait, compared to rather frizzy mess) ✅ simple, smart shoe with a low heel (instead of Christmas Day's rather juvenile ballet flat* ✅.
*
I know ballet flats aren't juvenile per se - and I wear them too. But it's all part of a more polished, dressed-up look today - and this is style and beauty after all.

Also, I'm well aware Louise is a teenager and not a fully formed adult. But I agree with the sentiments of others on here - she could do with some styling help, if that's the kind of thing she cares about 🤷🏼‍♀️ (and maybe it isn't).

(And maybe she's at that age)

(Prepares for a flaming 🥱😉)

CourageCalls · 29/12/2019 21:06

I have a theory that they put lady Louise in hideous outfits on official events now so that when she is older and wears something terrible (al la York sisters) she won't get singled out. It will be well "lady Louise she always wears the odd stuff". Takes the pressure off somewhat? When they have been papped at private stuff she always look great like the walk above and at the carriage riding.

WineOrGinOrBoth · 29/12/2019 21:22

Anyone else want to attend Princess school or just me?

AppleKatie · 29/12/2019 21:29

I think she wears dreadful dowdy stuff at big public moments so she is less recognisable as ‘herself’. It’s a mask.

I would definitely get kicked out of Princess school. Pretty quickly too.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 29/12/2019 21:43

@AmandaLorian

I’d imagine there’d be extra local police put in place for the Sussexes.
So unless the Canadian government bill the British government for the extra policing; then the Canadian tax payer gets to pay,
Usually there’s one or 2 Royal Protection officers per royal, but they must be close protection.
For guarding the property; that’s either going to be a private security firm or the local police.

QueenOfTheAndals · 29/12/2019 21:47

I'm not sure she would be recognised by the average person on the street, regardless of what she's wearing.

The big public moments are part of the public record. I can understand they don't want her in edgey fashion but I think she could wear things that are a bit more flattering.

Ocomeocomeimaginaryfleas · 29/12/2019 22:07

I'm not sure it's that complicated. I think LL might be a late developer who is still happy to be dressed by the adults in her life. We'll see her own style emerging in good time but I think right now she's probably more interested in ponies.

AppleKatie · 29/12/2019 23:02

Perhaps. She looked much nicer in the church shot from this morning though. And whilst I’m sure she’s not a secret fashion devotee she must be exposed to fashion through her school friends in a way that her public dresses don’t suggest!

It is hard though. She is rightly kept away from the front line duty so much of the time she doesn’t get loads and loads of opportunity to practice.

paradyning · 29/12/2019 23:08

Interesting analysis of SWFM's 2019 wardrobe for the Uber geek. This blogger does it every year. If i remember she got some flak last year from trolls.

TSSDNCOP · 30/12/2019 00:46

Frankly, I think it’s extremely unkind of grown women on this thread to comment on Louise’s appearance. If an adult commented in that way about your daughter you’d go postal. I think this should stop right now.

AspergersMum · 30/12/2019 01:34

Yes Please to princess school with WineOrGinOrBoth...is it too late to learn etiquette?! Or is there hope yet.

Loved the DM photos of Sophie Wessex watching Lady Louise at the Windsor horse show earlier this year. So much love and pride in her eyes and Louise clearly has bucketloads of talent.

FlyMayBe · 30/12/2019 06:33

Can we please stop with the criticism of young Lady Louise? So cruel and unnecessary.

OutComeTheWolves · 30/12/2019 07:42

Following on from aspergersmum's post, years ago I was waitressing at a event in London and happened to be waitressing at Sophie Wessex's table. Every time I returned to the table she was chatting about her daughter. Nothing confidential or exciting just something she's done at school or something she'd said or whatever. It was before I had kids or was even interested in having a family but I remember thinking at the time that she must be a lovely mum.

AppleKatie · 30/12/2019 08:20

Wow, can I apologise if my comments have read as anything more than benign idle speculation. She looks like a lovely young lady and I have nothing but sympathy with her awkward position in life. I’m not a fan of some of her coats but I’m not making any kind of judgement on the human being.

Which actually goes for all of them not just Louise.

Rhubarbisevil · 30/12/2019 08:26

I agree with PP. The girl borrowed her mum’s beige coat as she doesn’t own one. So what?

I’m going to leave this beautiful photo of her here and let’s move on.

Ocomeocomeimaginaryfleas · 30/12/2019 08:50

That's a lovely photo, @Rhubarbisevil. You can really see both Edward and Sophie in her, particularly Sophie's smile.Smile

I didn't read anybody's comments as critical, btw. As always, tone is so hard to judge.

itswinetime · 30/12/2019 09:05

Anyone else seen the hardest working royal stats out today.

For those that don't want to click

Charles is the top followed by Anne (both in the 500's) then Edward and Queen pretty joint at 300, Andrew was next with 250 no mention of Sophie that I have seen but I imagine she's at least equal with her husband but I might be wrong.

Both the Cambridge's and Sussex's are bringing up the rear William clocked 220 and Harry 201. Kate was 124 and Meghan 83. Considering the Sussex's had a baby so Meghan was on Mat leave for a good period of it this and have taken a 6 week break that's not a massive difference.

This is only events published in the court circular as well so any private meetings won't be included.

SunsetBoulevard3 · 30/12/2019 09:06

I suspect Louise is a bit like Anne. Not much interested in fashion, passionate about her hobbies and very much her own person. She seems very happy and well loved by her family. My niece is the same age and very similar. She couldn’t care less about clothes. It’s quite refreshing actually.

frugalkitty · 30/12/2019 09:43

My fashion aware 22 year old niece arrived to us on Boxing Day in a Del Boy shapeless camel coat, so maybe Lady Louise isn't as unfashionable as some may think Grin

QueenOfTheAndals · 30/12/2019 09:47

Princess Anne was definitely interested in fashion as a young woman @SunsetBoulevard3, there are plenty of photos of her looking stylish in the 60s and 70s. Even now I don't think she gets dressed in the dark!

I don't think anyone was being cruel re Louise's appearance, just critiquing her clothes, much as we do all royals. Even Prince George's outfits are discussed here!

Anyway moving on, it's no surprise that Charles and his siblings top that list. They are the monarch's children after all. William and Harry are bound to up their engagements once they become the same, plus by that time there may not be any Gloucesters or Kents to do their share.
