Yeah but just think of all the others in St Bart's with similar fab bodies and they AREN'T in the tabloids! 🙂 Lucky devils!

QueenOfTheAndals · 27/12/2019 21:51

But the problem with that @PaprikaPringle is that she'd then be accused of attention-seeking! I think all the royals do a lot of work behind the scenes with their projects and we often only see the end result.

Mike Tindall giving some insights into the BP Xmas lunch
There’s about 70 who gather.
I suspect Charles will continue with this tradition. Perhaps fewer will visit Sandringham as the Queen’s grandchildren have larger families of their own ( the York’s & eventually Wessex children)

Lady Louise will one day be the next Royal Bride after Beatrice
So we are probably a good decade away from that.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 27/12/2019 21:55

The Middletons and Matthews probably give excellent free publicity to the Eden Roc hotel.
I think the Cambridges continue with Mustique but in the summer, as it is more private.
I bet they miss their winter sun holiday.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 27/12/2019 22:03

I think all the royals do a lot of work behind the scenes with their projects and we often only see the end result.

On thé Mary Berry programme there was more insight into the background to the Cambridges major projects, such as Kate’s garden and William’s work with the homeless.

I’d really like to see more programmes like that. You see much more about the charities. See that W& K do a lot behind the scenes, and you see a more informal side to them.

Meghan and a Harry could well adopt a similar approach.
Perhaps present their projects, as a fait accompli. But also a review programme behind the scenes of what they are doing.

Off the top of my head, documentaries I’ve really enjoyed were the 2 parter on HighGrove ( although it was a bit cap doffing towards Charles)

Also a few years back; the behind the scenes of Harry in Afghanistan.

I’d love to see a documentary on Camilla’s work. She always seems like good fun.
I’d like to hear about the osteoporosis society and go a bit more behind the scenes at the Christmas party she holds at Clarence House for the children. (I forget the charity)....

Harry and Meghan had an opportunity to show behind the scenes of their Africa your and unfortunately made it about themselves and their struggles. I really hope they come back refreshed and focused on work rather than feeling hard done by.

StartupRepair · 27/12/2019 23:10

Tour.

Ocomeocomeimaginaryfleas · 27/12/2019 23:13

I read the c section comments as a criticism of the intrusiveness of the photos, certainly not speculation about whether PM had had one, because I would consider that none of my, or anybody else's business.

itswinetime · 27/12/2019 23:21

It looks like Kate's big project of 2020 might be around midwifes at least from this post anyway.

Re documentaries for me the difference between the Sussex's and the Cambridge's, is the Sussex's are the story at the moment. I can't see how you could do a documentary similar to the Mary Berry one with them without it either being criticised for flossing over things or becoming all about them and missing the point as the African tour one did. Hopefully this break away will reset things.

PaprikaPringle · 27/12/2019 23:44

You could be right, QueenoftheAndals, but we haven't really had much chance to see Meghan (understandably as she was pregnant and a new mum). Then she and Harry were rather precious (imho) over Archie plus their whingefest during the Africa tour - it's been fodder for the tabloids. However, she looks genuinely engaged when she performs official duties, so if we saw a lot more of her actually grafting and glad-handing the public, it might give people the opportunity to warm to to her. I hope so.

AspergersMum · 27/12/2019 23:46

How amazing does Kate's hair look in the midwife photo! I like it a bit less volumised as it is there, looks more achievable to me as a mere mortal Grin

itswinetime · 27/12/2019 23:47

We saw a fair bit of Meghan when she was pregnant 2 royal tours plus quite a few engagements in the U.K. she was definitely more visible than Kate was in her first year of marriage from my memory anyway.

hoteltango · 27/12/2019 23:59

I would like to see some footage from William's time with the air ambulance. I've watched loads of those documentaries, and they all work as a team, as equals, taking turns cooking breakfast, washing down the helicopter, and so on. That would be very good PR for the Cambridges.

BlingLoving · 28/12/2019 00:00

I wonder if we will start hearing stories from women who met her while doing her work experience. I think that sounded great and I hope the attention she will be shining on midwives helps to strengthen pre natal and delivery care. Midwives really are unsung heroes (and yes, if course there are bad ones and rude ones but certainly my overall experience was good).

itswinetime · 28/12/2019 00:26

Maternal health/care is a natural progression for Kate's from her early years work.

AudacityOfHope · 28/12/2019 11:00

I don't want multiple documentaries about the royals, trying to prove they are just like us little people!

QueenOfTheAndals · 28/12/2019 11:49

CPM in a rare miss. The coat and trousers are probably fine on their own but the combination is a bit too voluminous. SWFM looks nice in her navy coat and skinny trousers.

MotherofPearl · 28/12/2019 12:38

Oh yes, I agree, the grey coat and grey trousers don't look right on CPM. I'm increasingly thinking that trousers - unless maybe very narrow? - can't be worn with long coats. Trousers perhaps look best paired with a shorter, fitted jacket whereas dresses and skirts can take a long coat?

Merry Christmas everyone!
In an attempt to be more environmentally friendly we haven't had crackers this year. Instead, we have had these little crown hats on elastic which I thought might give you a giggle.
They were very well received and are really sturdy so I'll be packing them away for next Christmas. If they last a few years we might even consider them as family tiaras. 👑😊

latedecember1963 · 28/12/2019 12:58

Firgot to add the photo.

Hmmm. Did you watch the documentary?

I watched the documentary and it was wide ranging, with only a small fraction in response to the question asked by the interviewer. The media focused on that small bit to the exclusion of all else and hearing people talk about it, you'd think it was a full on therapy session.

Meghan has been far busier than Kate during her first year and even with pregnancy has had two (cant remember if it's actually three) major foreign tours in addition to projects at home.

It's good that they are also being honest about the impact of putting best foot forward when people are actively trying to damage your reputation and hoping your marriage fails. Nothing we pay for means that they have to pretend to be ok with shitty, damaging behaviour.

QueenOfTheAndals · 28/12/2019 14:16

Meghan undertook her first official engagement the day after it was announced that she and Harry were to marry. She's certainly done her fair share of royal duties and always appears engaged when meeting people and knowledgeable about issues she cares about. As does Kate, although it's taken her a bit longer to find her niche. Understandable though as she's had 3 babies in 5 years!

OP posts:
SenecaFalls · 28/12/2019 14:17

I agree with Becles. Meghan in particular has been treated very unfairly by UK media and certain segments of the public.

SunsetBoulevard3 · 28/12/2019 15:36

Meghan and Harry apparently have no engagements in January. Is their holiday going to extend on and on?
