@happytobemrsg I like the capsule idea. Sometimes having too much stuff makes it so hard to plan outfits. I’m currently trying to figure out a couple of outfits for a girls weekend away, & can’t see the wood for the trees in my wardrobe

As it is now February, I’m going to try something new. I’m going to pick an item of clothing and see if I can build 5 different outfits around it over the week. I’m starting with this rather uninspiring dress from M&S. Day 1: styled with a cropped cardigan (which I loved so much back in the day that I bought a second one) and over-the-knee boots.

I wish I’d had this thread 15 years ago, I worked in an office for several years and put little effort into how I looked. Mainly because of a lack of confidence in myself and having no idea about fashion. I’ve since realised that I shouldn’t care about what other people think! And a bit of research helps.

So now I’m back to work part time after 5 years as a SAHM and my wardrobe had become back into focus a little. So I’ll be keeping tabs on you stylish lot for inspiration!

@Igottastartthinkingbee what a lovely colour cardigan! And welcome. I do find this tread really helpful even though I nearly always just wear jeans.

@happytobemrsg thank you! 😊 Haha, my entire wardrobe is pretty much solely msde up of Lucy & Yak these days! I discovered them just after I had my little boy and felt very lost style wise. I worked somewhere that was quite 'tweed' and Joules heavy prior to that and I wore a lot of that stuff and always felt a bit like I was play-acting/like they didn't really fit me. I like the ethos of Lucy & Yak and I feel like 'me' in their clothes, though I accept they're not for everyone. 😊

On the subject of not being for everyone...I've got my boob trousers on today. They make me ridiculously happy, even though almost everyone I know hates them and my DH winces when I get them out and he thinks I'm not looking. 😂

Well inspired by @toastfiend I have invested in some L&Y trousers - I need honest opinions please ladies! I sized down (I was in between sizes) so I haven’t got the same really slouchy look like Toast, but not sure that would suit me. What do we think? Keep or return?

@KiteflyingKat L&Y stuff always makes me think of Bananarama, circa 1980s - and I mean that in a really good way because I love the aesthetic. Anyway, yes, I love the trousers on you, very casual but stylish.

Just a day at home today, bit of tidying, bit of TV catch up so chucked on an old sale bargain dress and OTK boots and just realised I’m head to toe in Next as my necklace is from there too.

I love those L&Y trousers on you @KiteflyingKat- LOL at the booby trousers @toastfiend but they look lovely! DD1 is a big Lucy and Yak dunga fan, may have to plunder her wardrobe!

Thanks soover I decided to get a bit more colour in my life as I have a tendency to gravitate towards grey. I also have a fab leather rucksack in the same orange. Must remember to not wear them together!
