Ooh forgot to say I'm leaving the house today, have a haircut booked. First haircut since May and only 4th time out of the house since Xmas...if DD is well enough

toastfiend · 27/01/2020 09:05

Work day for me today. Enjoying a peaceful house (bar squeaking puppies) after a busy weekend. I often tease my DH about always wearing the same thing, but this thread has made me realise I pretty much always wear some kind of variation on the same style, too. šŸ™ˆ

Top - H&M
Trousers - Lucy & Yak (vast tracts of my wardrobe come from these guys, so I usually have at least one thing on from them!)
Belt - Lucy & Yak
Shoes - 14-hole DMs

@PalacePaper I find that for ankle or mid calf boots you do need chunky or quite a bit of hardware to look right with those skirts. Anything too sleek or ā€˜pretty’ just doesn’t work (at least for me).

@Ellapaella I absolutely love those pleather trousers on you and will probably have to try them myself if my local H&M has them. I can pretty much guarantee they will not suit me, sadly.

@timswifey Congratulations!

@KiteflyingKat But, Ralph Lauren! You can’t call that boring! Anyway that whole outfit is a total ā€˜I just threw this on and look great by accident’ look.

@cathyandclare That plum jacket is fantastic and really works dressed down with jeans. Bet your daughters regret turning it down when they see it styled like that. I also really like your leather jacket with buttons from today.

Hope you’re feeling a bit more the thing today, @happytobemrsg

Home and not planning to go out now thanks to the rain (a quick cinema trip to see Little Women was mooted earlier but nah) so comfy in jeans, courtesy of Lidl and a black velvet shirt with glitter stars by Jaded London (it’s a mans shirt actually)

Thanks @Talisin Grin

@happytobemrsg how are you feeling?

@ememem84 how was return to work?

@Sooverthemill how did the haircut go?

@cathyandclare you look very sleek & stylish, again

@toastfiend I checked out the Lucy Yak website, am definitely tempted by the trousers. All the rainbow dungarees are definitely a step to far for me though Grin

it’s interesting what you were saying about feeling you only have one style - I often feel the opposite, like I don’t know what my style is - I have everything in my wardrobe from causal, smart, girly, sporty, country..... I really don’t think I have a style - do I need one though?

  • mom jeans Topshop
  • cardi - Levi’s
  • T-shirt - Look Look
  • high tops Diesel (ready for replacement)

Return to work was fine. I was missed. My assistant gave me a huge hug which is very unlike him.

Good day.

Managed the gym after work too and have made a decision to only replace current gym stuff with leggings from gym shark. My M&S ones are good. But they’re not gymshark good.

So today’s gym outfit - dorothy Perkins basic Burgandy T-shirt, black gymshark leggings (mid calf length) addidas trainers (years old and probabky should replace at some point) then an old under armour hoody of dhs over the top for the walk there.

Tomorrow’s outfit is hanging on the wardrobe door:

Blue button down shirt with white cuffs (will wear tucked in and sleeves rolled) - H&M I think
black skinny trousers - monsoon
Leopard print flatties - dune
Bottle green wool coat - oasis
Yellow scarf - oasis
Yellow bag - oasis

toastfiend · 27/01/2020 23:27

@KiteflyingKat haha, I won't lie, I do own a few pairs of colourful dungas from them! šŸ˜‚ I do appreciate they're not for everyone, though.

It's weird. I have all different styles in my wardrobe, and, as you say, never really felt I have a specific "style" that's my own, although I err more towards the grungy side of things, I suppose. Which is why this thread has surprised me really as actually seeing my daily outfits laid out like that has shown me that the stuff I feel happiest in is all very similar. I think it'll broaden up as I go through my wardrobe, though. I don't think anyone needs to have a style, though, no. I'd look totally different at an Agricultural Show or a Point to Point, for example, than I look in any of these and pictures. Dressing in what makes you happy and is appropriate for whatever you're doing is the most important thing, I think. I just buy clothes I like these days, having spent years feeling crap in clothes I didnt think suited me in order to fit in. šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø

@Sooverthemill I love your hair, it looks fab. 😊

Sooverthemill · 28/01/2020 08:25

Thank you @toastfiend!

Very uninspiring today, had to get ready in a hurry so variation on yesterday!

Jumper: old Boden
Trousers: old Boden skinny velvet
Shoes: old Hobbs

Nice hair, @Sooverthemill Smile

I don’t think I have a style either. I chop and change as the fancy takes me and I tend to get bored fairly quickly if I’m wearing stuff of a certain ā€˜look’ for more than two or three days in a row.

Anyway, today:
Izzie jumper (Hush)
Portia skirt (Hush)
Boots (New Look)
Coat (Hobbs)
T-Bar necklace (Label Mix @ Next)

The skirt & jumper look like they don’t really go together in the Stylebook layout but in r/l they tone really well.

Oh look - another variation on my standard ā€˜jeans and a jumper’ outfit. Perhaps I need to try and be more adventurous....

Jumper: Jigsaw
Jeans: Boden
Trainers: Mint Velvet

@31OublietteBravo love your boots!

Congrats to timswifey such lovely news.

Jumper was a Christmas gift and I wasn't sure at first as it's a box sort of shape and quite baggy, not normally something I would wear, but I like it and it's comfortable and warm!
Denim faded black skirt from God knows where!
Charcoal tights are from tu and I'll be swapping slippers for grey flat tom tailor boots later on.

@01toastfiend beautiful pinafore!

Talisin · 28/01/2020 11:47

@toastfiend Awesome dinos! šŸ¦•šŸ¦–

timswifey · 28/01/2020 12:26

Thanks @Chipsahoy šŸ’•

I absolutely love a pinafore @toastfiend in fact in a previous job I started a 'pinafore Mondays' tradition that people actually joined in with and enjoyed! šŸ˜‚

toastfiend · 28/01/2020 13:31

Thank you @Talisin and @Chipsahoy. 😊 I love it, I feel a lot like an overgrown toddler in it, but who doesn't like dinos?! šŸ˜‚šŸ¦•

@timswifey I love the idea of 'pinafore Mondays'! I got massively into wearing then just after I'd had my DS as I found lots of breastfeeding specific clothing made me feel really frumpy. He doesn't feed that much any more but my love for pinafores is here to stay, I think!

twosoups1972 · 28/01/2020 13:36

@Talisin I love your outfit

PalacePaper · 28/01/2020 14:47

Everyone is looking lovely Smile

I’m wearing a Banana Republic dress - it was on its last warning but it’s failed and is on its way to the charity shop Grin . It doesn’t flatter, it’s short and rides up and clings to the wrong part of my stomach Blush

Apart from the fact it doesn’t fit right, it’s just so average and why waste our time wearing average clothes when we could wear something that makes us feel fabulous? Grin

I saw a lady I know today who always looks amazing She’s 40, and yes she’s slim and pretty (but not outstandingly beautiful) but she is always so well dressed. She wears a lot of colour - definitely doesn’t stick to ā€œsafeā€ options - but she always gets it so right. I want to know her secret! which I suspect is spending a fortune
