I've spent the last few days going through all the old threads and am astonished at the number of lovely outfits, everyone looks so lovely, even if just for slobbing around at home. However, I am a bit heartbroken as I saw someone wearing a beautiful red dress from Matalan and have been looking online for it but no luck. If I had seen it at the time I could have bought it, argh!

Sooverthemill · 05/01/2020 11:36

@sleepwalking the reason I came in this thread was because I needed motivation to look after myself and dress other than in jogging bottoms as I have a tricky life. This has really boosted me. Shame about the dress!

Happierwithouthim · 05/01/2020 11:39

Kite I love your dress & top combo, I'd love to wear stuff like this but I'm chunky of thigh & this look doesn't suit me Sad

Em I don't think that dress is you & you've got some lovely clothes.

Moon fab dress

Ella are the trainers comfy? I think wedge trainers are a wardrobe staple I'll need to purchase.

I tried the boots/dress combo over Christmas & I just can't carry it off so swapped it out for the heels, dress is years old & was purchased on a preloved page for €10 Grin

Pinkdaydreams here's the summary I used for buying M&S jeans, if you're on Instagram check out ystyleireland's highlights section. I went for ivy in black & Lily in blue both 12 regular (I'm 5'2" but not petite) & love both, got them when there was 20% off too for Black Friday

@Happierwithouthim - I love those shoes (I could never walk in them though).

I’ve been delving into my wardrobe for today’s outfit (everything is at least 3 years old).

Jumper: I’m not sure about this - it has an open back and I can’t decide whether or not I like the way it hangs (I’ve no idea where it is from - it was a present from my sister - I think she probably bought it in France)
Jeans: Next (I’ll probably retire them at the end of the season - they don’t hold their shape very well these days)
Boots: Celtic & Co.

@happytobemrsg - I’d probably try it and only keep it if I really loved it.

FWIW - I think there are probably a few ways to style a jumpsuit. I bet you could wear it more than once a week. I’m considering trying this as my February challenge - selecting a particular piece of clothing and seeing if I can build several days of outfits around it. Do you think doing 5 days (a full working week) would be too much repetition for one piece of clothing? I suppose I’ve got another 4 weeks to decide...

Ellapaella · 05/01/2020 13:14

@SleepwalkingThroughLife is it this one? I've posted it before - was from Matalan I think he summer but I got the last one and it wasn't ever online.

@Happierwithouthim yes the high tops are really comfy, not wedge though.

ememem84 · 05/01/2020 13:23

happier I think you’re right. Will wear today then shove in charity bag. I wasn’t convinced when I put it on but thought I’d give it a try.

Happierwithouthim · 05/01/2020 13:30

I love them too, it's not the height that's an issue for me it's the court style I need a strap for support. €7 primark, I pick up shoes mostly when I'm not looking for them.

Em I did hope you wouldn't take that as an insult Wink

Ella thanks for heads up

Oubliette I generally wear 2 outfits per week to work but I work in an office where very few customers come in & it's just tradesmen so I'm not out of place. My clothes don't have holes & stains on them like the men coming in Grin

SleepwalkingThroughLife · 05/01/2020 13:35

@Ellapaella ah yes indeed it was that one. But you know what? It's quite a common style (so I should be able to find a pattern) and later on this year I'm going to have a go at making one. I used to sew some simple clothes and would love to try something a but more difficult like this.

ememem84 · 05/01/2020 13:38

Absolutely not happier wasn’t sure about it this morning but didn’t want to charity shop it before giving it a go again.

Ellapaella · 05/01/2020 13:39

@SleepwalkingThroughLife good for you! It's basically just a long shirt dress so maybe fairly straight forward.

Sooverthemill · 05/01/2020 13:39

@sleepwalking liberty London have some fab dress patterns they've recently reissued several vintage ones. I'm going to have a try too. They have a shirt dress I'm certain

happytobemrsg · 05/01/2020 14:17

@OublietteBravo Although I know it’s good to be able to wear an item many times a week, I love clothes & putting together outfits too much. I wouldn’t want to neglect my other clothes šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

One of the things putting me off the jumpsuit is some of the reviews are saying it’s big so I’m considering buying 2 sizes which is a Ā£120 outlay until I send one back & they refund me. Sounds silly I know

I’m always amazed when people say they can make clothes @SleepwalkingThroughLife. What a skill!

I’ve heard from SBS & now WWW that Bermuda shorts / suit combo a la Vivienne in Pretty Woman is going to be on trend in 2020: www.whowhatwear.co.uk/bermuda-shorts/slide5

I was sceptical at first, but I do like the look of the olive green one in the article šŸ¤”

Hmm. I can’t imagine where I’d wear such an outfit. It’s neither office wear not casual wear.

Talisin · 05/01/2020 14:45

Is it the Becca jumpsuit, @happytobemrsg? I tried that on a few weeks ago and it came up on the larger size (for reference I’m a 5’8 small size 12 apple with boobs).

happytobemrsg · 05/01/2020 15:09

@OublietteBravo I could definitely get away with it at my office

@Talisin yes that one! What did you think of it? I’m a 10 usually in dresses (small 12 bottom half)

OP posts:
OublietteBravo · 05/01/2020 15:13

@happytobemrsg - I’d freeze! The air con in the office is arctic in the summer.

Should not have looked at the Hush sale. Must not succumb to temptation.

PegasusReturns · 05/01/2020 15:15

I’m place marking for later

Talisin · 05/01/2020 15:17

@happytobemrsg It didn’t suit me at all - it was entirely the wrong shape for me so it went back. It was lovely soft material though so very comfortable to wear. DMBL40 was wearing on Insta sometime back in October (with the teal velvet jacket, if irc) and looked great so it does work for some.

happytobemrsg · 05/01/2020 19:12

I’ve not heard of that Instagrammer before @Talisin, I love her style.

Stayed in pjs until 4pm when we all went out for dinner. I was bang on my shape/colour advice today for an Autumn Hourglass: oatmeal jumper, v neck, gold jewellery, high waisted jeans, French tuck

I spent the day in my pjs clearing out my wardrobes. Two boxes for the charity shop and a load uploaded to Ebay.
I failed with no spend January and succumbed to the green floral dress from Next which a pp put up on here along with a lovely petrol chunky knit cardigan. Opps!

Sooverthemill · 06/01/2020 08:26

@Veronicat ah shame but you have at least sorted out loads! I started trying on different jeans today but decided I needed a few more post Christmas feasting days beforehand!

Jumper: mango this season
Tee under: hush sale ( if too hot for jumper!)
Jeans: new (half price in sale because very old season 98% denim) jigsaw Hampton slim boyfriend
Trainers: jigsaw old
