I’m finding no spend trickier than I expected. My weakness is definitely shoes - I could quite happily have bought 5 or 6 pairs. But I haven’t yet.

Silk shirt: Boden (AW 2018 - bought with 28% discount)
Jeans: Gap (old)
Belt: Mint Velvet
Trainers: Mint Velvet (Christmas present)

Ooh nice trainers @oubliette. My weakness is jumpers and shoes and jeans. I want to work out how many pairs I have. I genuinely only used to have one pair that fitted following chemo and I think it was a reaction to being able to fit into them again that prompted a total over purchasing. Trainers etc are so classic they last for ever imo. Jumpers, well the same if they are good styles and yarn.

I'm going to go through my wardrobe over next couple of weeks and work out if I have too much stuff ( I think I do) that I never wear or maybe it will remind me of all my nice stuff? I don't have an exciting life so jeans/ tee/ jumper is pretty much fine 90% of the time,

ememem84 · 06/01/2020 08:49

@oubliettebravo I love that shirt!

Trying to work out your area of work. Some of your outfits last week suggested corporate type office. But the last couple not so much!!

Your outfit today wouldn’t look out of place in my office. We’re fairly business casual. Except when clients come in.

Sooverthemill · 06/01/2020 08:53

Somebody said about jumpsuits. (@KiteflyingKat? @happytobemrsg?) I found an Instagram video by bethgoodrhamstylist on how to style a jumpsuit if you're over 40. I reckon it holds true for anyone!

here is her instagram page if you click on link and go down 10 rows it's on far right. I like Beth. She seems very practical ( and is also a lawyer!)

Dazedandconfused28 · 06/01/2020 09:07

Hello, can I join? I've loved seeing everyone's outfits & I need to get creative from my own wardrobe. I'm also in a bit of a rut post may leave. Today is my first day back in the office & I'm wearing:
Jumper - Zara
Skirt - Oasis
Boots - Aldo

@Dazedandconfused28 welcome! Anyone can join in, I thunk we are a nice bunch. Love your outfit, makes me jealous I don't work anymore!

OublietteBravo · 06/01/2020 09:17

@ememem84 - I work for a large multinational (in-house legal). I’m based on one of the R&D sites, which is much less ā€˜corporate’ in terms of dress code than head office. Nevertheless, sometimes I have to dress for my work level (I’m considerably more senior than most of the R&D scientists realise).

ememem84 · 06/01/2020 10:34

@OublietteBravo ah ha. My next guess would have been legal. Some of the outfits just fitted with it if you see what I mean.

I’m mentally planning outfits for back to work.

Moonfacebiggins · 06/01/2020 12:53

I'm still not spending except for the 2 EBay purchases that I had my eye on before January 1st. So I've bought a gorgeous Zara cape and cherry red DMs! Very excited about them coming.

You're all so good at taking pictures. We have no full length mirrors and I seem to be rubbish at the selfie thing.
Working today:
Whistles skirt
Leopard shirt/blouse (unknown)
Urban outfitters shoes
Black tights
Everything from Newlife bar the tights.

I love your blouse @Hoolajerry

Love that shirt @Hoolajerry

Hoolajerry · 06/01/2020 15:14

Thanks Blush
I get all my clothes from our local Newlife charity shop. They take the labels out. Normally I can work out where they're from but I have no clue!

KiteflyingKat · 06/01/2020 17:25

What’s Newlife @Hoolajerry? I’m also a charity shop fan.

Jumper - Nicole Farhi (charity shop)
Jeans - New Look
Boots - Valverde Botas

*KiteflyingKat*It's a charity shop, not second hand but where shops pass on their seconds and end of line items. They take the labels off but you can generally work out where things are from. There is a big one in Cannock and smaller ones in various towns.

I get my entire wardrobe from there. My skirt is whistles and one of the splits had split. It took me 5 minutes to repair. There was nothing wrong with the blouse or shoes. It is brilliant.

happytobemrsg · 06/01/2020 18:09

@OublietteBravo Are your MV trainers comfy? I’m considering some Allie ones but not had a chance to see them in person yet.

Thanks @Sooverthemill That video was super helpful. I’m trying to get my mum to consider a jumpsuit (I bought her a style analysis for Christmas & we are doing a big shop at the end of the month). I ordered the jumpsuit in Hush in a couple of sizes so fingers crossed šŸ¤ž

Love your shirt @Hoolajerry

Welcome @Dazedandconfused28!

Popped to David Lloyd today to chill & have lunch with my mum. Wore a very similar outfit to yesterday, just different colours.

Jumper: New Look
Jeans: Gap
Boots/socks: M&S

Urgh I’m ridiculously bad at this no spend thing. So far I’ve ordered trainers, 2x jumpsuits, lightweight cropped denim jacket & a cropped black velvet jacket. Everything except for the velvet jacket is on my Spring list & everything except the trainers were discounted.

OublietteBravo · 06/01/2020 20:03

@happytobemrsg - the MV trainers are very comfortable.

I’m doing OK at no spend. Mainly because I looked at my finances, and realised that I could afford this month’s Ā£5k tax bill without dipping into my savings so long as I wasn’t spending any money on clothes. The only thing I’ve bought so far in 2020 is underwear - mostly because one of my new year’s resolutions was to get rid of any uncomfortable underwear.

twosoups1972 · 07/01/2020 07:56

Happy new year everyone!

Some lovely outfits on here. I've spent too much money in the sales and am determined to buy less this year.

Sooverthemill · 07/01/2020 08:34

Today I'm going to attempt to sort out my jeans and eBay/Facebook those I never wear

Top: Boden sale
Jeans: banana republic slim girlfriend old
Trainers: whistles sale
Necklace posh totty

Mint velvet jumper ( the Jumper if you will...!)
Topshop jeans

Currently bare foot in the house as I just worked out that our whole downstairs has underfloor heating. Not just the kitchen. I found a switch yesterday. We’ve only lived here for a year.....

Dazedandconfused28 · 07/01/2020 09:08

Thank you for the lovely welcome - I love the inspiration here!

Today's outfit looks suitably boring! I've done a close up of my tights, as they were my attempt at something more exciting, but now querying if they're a bit naff!

Dress - Hush
Tights - Calzedonia
Boots - Aldo

OublietteBravo · 07/01/2020 09:15

I actually went through (part of) my wardrobe last night and started getting rid of things. It’s amazing what I was hanging on to, e.g. a pair of wedged sandals, one of which was held together by sellotape (I definitely wore them to my daughter’s christening - she sits her GCSEs this summer).

Jumper: Next
Skirt: Hobbs
Boots: Bertie
