ememem84 That is impressive. Must have been very satisfying. Unfortunately I seem to be going in the opposite direction. I think because I have started working again and thus have a reason to dress properly I have gone a bit mad.

Here is another pic of my new dms'. I find shoes really hard but i absolutely love these and they fit perfectly.

hoola yeah. It won’t last. But I have mentally made up fun cute and suitable outfits for work when I start again on 27th.

When I buy anything I try and make sure I can wear for work as well as casually.

I’m in a business casual office. So can do black/dark jeans and smart top at a push. But don’t need to be suited and booted every day as the majority of my client facing is via phone or email.

I found a sunny yellow shirt, and trousers (not to be worn together - id look like big bird...!), but figure with a simple white white and maybe leopard print booties the trousers would be ace for work. The top cute with jeans tucked in.

I ditched 4 skinny belts. Keeping only my leopard print one and a plain brown and black one.

I kept all my shoes and boots.

Tomorrow I’m out riding so will be in my johdpurs probably all day. But Sunday...Sunday I’m going to wear something I’ve never worn.

happytobemrsg · 03/01/2020 20:25

I tried on boots which were similar to DMs but I felt they went too high up my ankle. I must be the only person in the world who doesn’t covet them! I’ll just admire them on others

Back at work today in navy gillet and light blue top. Feet wise I have my trusty Dubarrys on and a pair of V by Very Navy slim Jean's.
I need to clear the wardrobes out, bag up anything I haven't worn and be RUTHLESS!!

Sooverthemill · 04/01/2020 07:13

@happytobemrsg I'm with you on the DMs. Associate them with skinheads far too much ( I'm very old) and they just don't look comfy. Would love a pair of Grenson boots though so my rationale doesn't work although they are less chunky. Also Russell and Bromley Belmont are nice. Both out of my budget!

Sooverthemill · 04/01/2020 07:13

Ooh but I do like them on other women but just on me, no

Sooverthemill · 04/01/2020 07:37

Read an article in Grazia today based on Lauren Bravo book. None of it is ground breaking but a good reminder to shop our wardrobes!

Talisin · 04/01/2020 08:25

Back to work (although I don’t appear to be on the timetable - think I can sneak away off home and back to bed?) and it all feels a bit ā€˜meh’ at the moment. I am out of my pyjamas though, on the upside Grin

@Hoolajerry I have those DMs I think, ridiculously comfy aren’t they.

@Sooverthemill I hadn’t come across that Lauren Bravo book, looks interesting. I’ll see if it’s on our catalogue (I work in a library). Like lots of others here, I’m planning on not buying anything for January - and hopefully beyond. My wardrobe is stuffed & that’s after a pretty ruthless clean out in November.

Dressed for comfort, with a little bit of sparkle still:
Lightning bolt jumper (Tu)
Bailey jeans (Hush)
Sparkly boots (Asos)

@talisin I think it's only just out

OublietteBravo · 04/01/2020 11:23

Weekend - so back to casual wear. Trying out my new DMs (I love them already).

Top: Primark
Belt: Mint Velvet
Jeans: Boden

I’ll stick on my sparkly black Warehouse jumper when I go out.

Been away for a few days.. you all look lovely. Loving the DM's Kat

I'm sticking to my nothing new resolution as from 1st January. Today I'm wearing cosy Superdry jumper (bought in Boxing Day sale), Levi's and my Hush high tops which I have pretty much worn everyday since I got them on the 20th December.

Topshop jeans, dubarrys, thermal long sleeve layer , joules polo shirt, north face waterproof jacket. Riding hat and gloves.

Took ds for a walk this morning. Then headed to the stables. Come back and haven’t bothered changing as have been cleaning etc today. So I was muddy from our walk all horsey and doggy (stable owner has a pack of the most gorgeously friendly doggos ever - two labs, a spaniel, a poodle and two german Shepard’s and they all go crazy when they see people. Today I was jumped on and woofed up for about 10 minutes by all 6 dogs)

Sooverthemill · 04/01/2020 18:26

Me dressed to go out!
Coat: Christmas present from DH
Scarf: old becksondergard from tk maxx
Jeans: Boden velvets

@Ellapaella lovely jumper

KiteflyingKat · 04/01/2020 19:36

Hello all
@Sooverthemill nice coat, enjoy your night out.

Some lovely outfits.

Well I’m successfully continuing my no shop on clothes. I’ve bought a couple of beauty products though - my make up routine needs an overhaul and I saw loads of recommendations for Hourglass ambient light powder on another thread. I refuse to buy that without testing it (£££) so will try to get into a Space NK but in the meantime I’ve ordered a couple of ā€œdupesā€. They are meant to give you a ā€œglowā€ but without making you shiny. We shall see. I’m not great with makeup and the only time I tried highlighter my mum asked why I had shiny stuff on my face & got a tissue out to wipe it off Grin

Today has just been a park day with my DC so just jeans and this Aigle jumper (Ā£4 charity shop find). Close up attached as hard to see pattern in first picture.

So one of my rules was that I’m allowed to buy two pairs of trainers. I’ve ordered the lovely silver Hush high tops to see what they are like (I’ve yet to try on the other black/white trainers I have my eye on).

Problem is... I’ve seen a jumpsuit I like in the Hush sale! A jumpsuit is on my Spring capsule wardrobe list but I really hadn’t budgeted to buy it this month. Not sure what to do

Sooverthemill · 05/01/2020 09:18

@happy if it's in the sale and it's on your list and you have enough money, buy it! You may hate it once it's here anyway. I am encouraging you because I totally and absolutely failed and have bought a really expensive designer knit that I fell in love with while looking for grey cashmere gloves ( on my permitted list) and although half price in the sale it was so expensive makes me wince. Trying it on properly at home today and trying to decide whether to keep. DH said 'well if you need it' and gasped at the price. I look after my stuff though and yesterday wore a mix of stuff from 12-5 years old. Help!
Have 2 ways in photos, will try again later when DD awake with blue jeans and with cargos I think. But I think I need therapy because although I can easily walk away from online sales if I touch something I love I'm done for. Thank god I go out only about once a month in daylight!

Oh I do like that jumper on you! Especially with the trainers. It looks super thick - will you get a lot of wear out of it? Bringing down the cost per wear of what I’m buying helps me justify it sometimes. The jumpsuit for example, is Ā£60 & since it’s a complete outfit I can’t really wear it more than once a week if that, so not great.

OP posts:
Palaver1 · 05/01/2020 10:07

For 60 I would say thats very reasonable if the quality and cut are good.

ememem84 · 05/01/2020 10:17

Not sure about this. But found it while tidying the wardrobe.

Jack wills stripe dress. It’s slightly short. Maybe.

Tights are my faves - fleece lined from new look.

Slippers are from joules and we’re a Christmas gift. When we go out later I’ll throw on tan boots. Either ankle ones or calf high.

That's a lovely dress, but if you feel it's too short, just wear it as a top maybe? Stripes are always good tbh.
