Don’t like myself in anything I’ve tried , tried a million dresses and I have a wedding to go to in December . Not in a church , don’t think it will be too posh an affair .
I already had this top and I’m now trying it with the skirt in the same pattern .
Could I make this work ?
Please be kind 🙂

Absolutely love that

Sprinklemetinsel · 09/12/2019 15:20

It's not my taste sorry. You look as if you have the figure to wear anything you like!

What kind of thing are you looking for?

Sprinklemetinsel · 09/12/2019 15:21

Better ignore me then, I'm a bit past it!

whitershadeofpale · 09/12/2019 15:21

I don't think you're doing yourself justice. You could find so many more things to flatter your shape and colouring.

Nonotmenori · 09/12/2019 15:24

I like it, but it's too close to your skin colour. You need something either darker or brighter.

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 09/12/2019 15:31

I think it's pretty and it suits you but, at this time of year with the cold weather and your fair skin and hair, it's washing you out. So I agree that a bolder colour would be better.

thefootofourstairs · 09/12/2019 15:34

I’ve no idea what I want . Don’t really do dressing up ! Tried on so many dresses and don’t feel right in any .
I might have to change my colour ( gravy browning anyone ) rather than the outfit at this rate . Running out of time .

It's lovely but a bit drab.

banivani · 09/12/2019 15:45

I think it looks quite on trend in length, shape and pattern. Personally I'm not keen on ruffles but that's my personal prejudice. I agree the colouring is a bit pale for you, you might feel dissatisfied with that. What sort of things do you normally wear when you're not dressing up?

Tiredandgrumpytonight · 09/12/2019 15:47

I feel it’s too summery for a winter wedding. For a winter anything really. Also feel if washes you out a bit. Sorry, would rather be honest.

zucchinicourgette · 09/12/2019 15:47

I think your problem might be that you’re not in the habit of dressing up so when you try a nice dress you don’t look like yourself. Could you enlist a friend to help?

I agree with pp that that outfit is not a great colour for you and it also looks too summery to me. Your figure is great so you could look lovely in something more glamorous.

However if you feel comfortable in that outfit then it’s perfectly fine, you’ll be appropriately dressed for the occasion.

MrOnionsBumperRoller · 09/12/2019 15:48

It looks lovely and elegant.

thefootofourstairs · 09/12/2019 15:49

Back to the drawing board it is then . I usually wear jeans , blouses , jumpers mostly black , white , beige , burgundy , gold colours

keepingbees · 09/12/2019 15:50

It's not awful, but not wedding-y and I think it washes you out a bit.
You have a great figure. The v neck suits you. I can imagine you in a navy blue velvet dress, long sleeved and about the length of that skirt.

Tiredandgrumpytonight · 09/12/2019 15:51

What about this OP? Really reasonable and they have loads of colours.

I think it’s lovely but more for a summer wedding

QueenofPain · 09/12/2019 15:55

Second the green new look dress. I have it in black and it’s really easy to wear, no drama. Jewel colours are ideal for winter weddings too.

kjhkj · 09/12/2019 15:59

Sorry, I agree with the others. Its doing nothing for you at all. Have a look on asos, they have thousands and thousands of dresses available.

MissSmiley · 09/12/2019 16:00

What about this ghost dress?

Moominfan · 09/12/2019 16:01

It's not for you this one op

banivani · 09/12/2019 16:07

When you say jeans do you mean like skinnies? Would you prefer a leaner, tighter shape? That green dress would be a nice colour but the shape is similar and I'm wondering if you really like it. Maybe try something like a jumpsuit. But def look at deep colours.

Alez · 09/12/2019 16:10

Agree with everyone else. It's not a bad skirt + top combo, but the colour is a bit wishy washy for you. That new look dress comes in a lovely plum colour too, if you prefer that. That said, if you don't want to/can't shop, you could wear that outfit and no one would think anything of it so don't worry.

Nevth · 09/12/2019 16:13

OP you will look great in anything. But I agree that a more colourful dress would do more for you - that New Look dress is fabulous. Make sure you wear something you feel comfortable in!
