Don’t like myself in anything I’ve tried , tried a million dresses and I have a wedding to go to in December . Not in a church , don’t think it will be too posh an affair .
I already had this top and I’m now trying it with the skirt in the same pattern .
Could I make this work ?
Please be kind 🙂

Boden looks promising with the petite Option

I'm sorry but it's awful. So drab, it's just benign! You have such a lovely figure, surely MN fashion gurus can find you something better?

kenandbarbie · 09/12/2019 19:40

I'm going against the grain to say I like it too!! Needs dark heels as someone up thread said. How about a brown or berry fur wrap and the same colour heels. I think it would look great!

It's too summery. Being December you can wear something Christmassy- go for velvet or sequins and a rich colour like burgundy, dark green, teal or even gold. Wear a fur jacket or long dressy coat over your dress and closed toed shoes, not sandals.

Laska2Meryls · 09/12/2019 20:05

I love the Ghost dress Soover linked. You would look totally fab in that OP

afterme · 09/12/2019 20:06

You could wear anything, except that!

Miseryisabutterfly · 09/12/2019 20:14

I really like it on you op!

Funny how tastes differ so much.

Miseryisabutterfly · 09/12/2019 20:16

I can imagine it with a brown faux fur stole to make it a bit more wintery

Miseryisabutterfly · 09/12/2019 20:18

I like this shrimps one actually, I may have lost the plot 😂

Colour way too wishy washy

Go for a bright glorious colour - pink? Red? The green is quite nice 👍

poorstudent1010 · 09/12/2019 20:41

I think it would look absolutely fine for the occasion, but there’s better options out there.

SleepyReindeer · 09/12/2019 22:55

Try Oasis. They have lots of occasion dresses. Midi styles if you like that, they are well made and reasonably priced (and many are definitely winter wedding appropriate).

NannySusan · 09/12/2019 23:03

You have a much better figure then me, but same height and skin shade. We need strong colours and petite styles. There is a big difference when the waist and hem are where they are supposed to be!

astralweaks · 09/12/2019 23:06

I like it. It’s pretty. The green dresses people have located are too shiny and Christmassy.

astralweaks · 09/12/2019 23:07

Like the way it works with your hair, too. It’s more you than the others being suggested.

Craftycorvid · 09/12/2019 23:13

Hm, it’s pretty in a slightly Stevie Nicks sort of way. Wants glamming up a bit though. Maybe play it up with some really striking suede knee boots and/or a dressy coat for a bit of a 70s vibe?

Shockers · 09/12/2019 23:18

I like Craftycorvid’s suggestion. The dress is lovely, but because the colour is similar to your skin tone, it looks a little Miss Haversham on you. Suede boots and a wide belt in a deeper colour would look great!

Lucked · 09/12/2019 23:19

It is so funny how split we are in this, sorry OP I am in the dowdy group.

What is the venue like? I like the boden linked to but I think you are trying on the wrong things because you have a fab figure- you need to pick up dresses out of your comfort zone in both shape and colour. I think you will surprise yourself.

AnyFucker · 09/12/2019 23:22

I have to have that Warehouse dress

Lucked · 09/12/2019 23:30

I also think a lot of people will be using their Christmas night out dress for a December wedding so it might be quite glam.

AlexaAmbidextra · 09/12/2019 23:44

You have a nice figure but this looks really shapeless. Surely you must be able to find something less dreary and more flattering.

AlexaAmbidextra · 09/12/2019 23:48

That Boden dress is a nice colour but there’s no way I’d pay nearly a hundred quid for a dress with a lazily machined hem.

FreeStar · 10/12/2019 16:51

Well @AlexaAmbidextra no-one ever pays the full price for Boden- you'll probably get at least 30% off! And when people complain about poorly made clothes I always wonder where they get better made ones for lower prices? Please let me know!

I suspect that stretch velour is better with a hem stitched in that way as it wouldn't sit flat if stitched another way.
