I agree that Harry is sensitive but William has always been said to be the one who has changeable moods. I think that both princes can be very sweet and engaging, but Harry seems to be more empathetic then William (overall).

There was certainly a period where Harry was self destructing because he had not had help or dealt with the trauma of his mother's death.

vivacian · 17/12/2019 21:36

The jarring moment for me was when the camera was pointed up a guest’s skirt and she didn’t have her legs crossed. Why on earth didn’t they edit that out? Poor thing.

SunsetBoulevard3 · 17/12/2019 22:55

I did think Kate has lost some of her naturalness. Her voice sounds painfully ‘trying to be posh’ which is a shame. She sounds posher than William. It just comes across as a bit brittle. Otherwise she is lovely. Just get a feeling she’s trying too hard all the time.

DontFearTheReaper · 17/12/2019 23:32

I have always thought that about her voice. It sounds so unnatural - I can’t imagine her phoning up her mum or a close friend for a chat and talking like that, whereas you can with William, Harry, Charles or anyone with that kind of accent. Maybe she is so conscious of being middle class/not posh enough?

There is another Bhutan baby on the way
more gorgeous photos

Bhutan always looks so colourful!

Just caught up with the Mary Berry Royal show.
It was fabulous and Mary was definitely the star; which took the pressure off William & Kate.

It was a brilliant format to showcase the charities and get W&K’s personalities across. William is just hilarious and lovely to see this side of him.

As pp, said it was PR genius.
( only slight niggle; was why did the editing include Kate shrugging off William’s hand?)

Ocomeocomeimaginaryfleas · 18/12/2019 03:54

Kate's accent is pretty typical of girls of her class and education. The younger ones do that awful vocal fry thing.

I just think she isn't a terribly confident person in the spotlight. She would have been conscious of being on camera however natural the conversation appeared.

Call me a soppy old thing but I'd have loved the roulade competition to be Cambridges v Sussexes, or even Dukes v Duchesses. I think in happier times that would have been full of fun and giggles.

itswinetime · 18/12/2019 05:50

I didn't notice the hand shrug till it was pointed out it was such an exaggerated movement I think it had to be either a startled movement or something unrelated she was turning as he went for her shoulder I'm not sure. My baseline is though if it was something it would definitely have been cut IYSWIM.

WineOrGinOrBoth · 18/12/2019 06:20

I know lots of people who speak like Kate. It’s fairly typical of the class. Dcs head & deputy head spoke in the exact same way as Kate for example.

Disfordarkchocolate · 18/12/2019 06:21

I also met lots of women at university that spoke the same way as Catherine. She sounds fine to me.

Spudlet · 18/12/2019 07:20

I only watched the end of the doc (from the beef stew recipe onwards - so trying that one this week btw) but I didn’t think Catherine sounded odd. I worked with plenty of people who have similar accents. 🤷‍♀️

Spanish RF Christmas card

I wonder why the British RF Xmas card is so late?
I’m wondering if they’re waiting till after the Queen’s Speech.
Isn’t that supposed to be on Tuesday Xmas Eve?

The Queen must be so fucked off with Boris. 3 openings of Parliament in as many months?
I suspect she’s already gone to Norfolk and will pop down by Helicopter.
If I was her, I wouldn’t even bother with all the regalia.
I’d show up in a car, wearing a tweed skirt and a cardigan.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 18/12/2019 08:05

Queen’s speech is on Thursday 19

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 18/12/2019 08:08

Today is the extended RF lunch

WineOrGinOrBoth · 18/12/2019 08:09

Hope we get glimpses of the arrivals for the lunch Curly

itswinetime · 18/12/2019 08:10

I don't get it the Christmas card thing surely they are starting to be sent out? Or is post more reliable when your family are on the stamps Wink Are they just not going to release the picture and we will see them when they start reaching everyone?

itswinetime · 18/12/2019 08:11

I'm interested to know if Harry and Meghan will go today. I think if they don't it will be very hard for the royals to keep denying there is a problem!

StCharlotte · 18/12/2019 08:14

Her voice and use of the word "kiddies" during the Chelsea Flower Show still makes me squirm. She sounds unnaturally clipped like she's always clenching her jaw.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 18/12/2019 08:22

@itswinetime
I don’t think we’ll see Harry & Meghan. If they’re not planning to do the Norfolk Xmas, then they’re unlikely to pop over for literally a couple of days for a lunch.
They’ve probably enjoyed below the radar peace and quiet.
I’m amazed they haven’t been papped anywhere in the US.

(I wonder if Meghan is secretly pregnant and will pop back next spring with a new US born baby!)

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 18/12/2019 08:25

The Meghan thing was a joke.

Details of pared down opening of Parliament
What’s different about the December 2019 ceremony?

Due to unique circumstances of the general election and the proximity to Christmas, the State Opening of Parliament will take place with reduced ceremonial elements.

The key differences will be as follows:

No horse-drawn carriages will be used. The Queen and the Regalia of State, including the Imperial State Crown, will travel to and from Parliament by car
The Queen will not wear the usual ceremonial robes or crown. Instead The Queen will wear a day dress and hat. There will be a reduced procession
The Queen will be preceded by Officers of State bearing the Imperial State Crown, Sword of State and Cap of Maintenance
The Prince of Wales will attend the ceremony; wearing a morning suit rather than a Service uniform

The Queen will probably do her Train trip up to King’s Lynn on the Friday; same as Last year. HM really does deserve a break.
Perhaps Xmas Cards photos will be released on Friday, once the «work» stuff is over.

itswinetime · 18/12/2019 08:42

I hadn't realised they were already in the US! Fair enough! And 9-10hr flight for lunch with wider royals, and some of the closer ones cough Andrew cough wouldn't be something I'd want to do!

frugalkitty · 18/12/2019 08:46

Well they've missed the deadline for second class posting for their Christmas cards Grin

QueenOfTheAndals · 18/12/2019 08:49

I'd have thought people would've started to receive the cards by now so I'm surprised no one has posted a photo of theirs on social media yet.

OP posts:
itswinetime · 18/12/2019 08:55

Unless they are cutting back and just going to send out thank you cards after Christmas as opposed to actually Christmas cards. I agree I would have thought people would have started receiving them by now!

Laiste · 18/12/2019 09:35

Really looking forward to watching the Mary Berry prog. later today. Late as usual! Been awfully poorly with Noro so haven't watched any TV for a couple of days.

I for one am fascinated to see where they'll put Andrew on Xmas day. Walking with everyone else, In the car or Left at home. I'm torn between Left at home or In the car with HM. Hmmm. Left at home might take PR too far the wrong way?

My money's on - In The Car.
Anyone else? Grin
