Or this decade?

Since it's coming to the end of the year and also decade.

I was reminded how good Anne French Deep Cleansing Milk is by these boards.

Does the Philips Lumea really work???? If it really does I am going to get one but don’t quite believe it

RuggyPeg · 10/12/2019 07:38

Using facial acid toners as deodorant.

Using facial acid toners as deodorant.

Please tell me more!

Honeybee85 · 10/12/2019 12:42

Still very grateful for all the great advice I’ve gotten on my topic about clearing up my adult acne.

Esspecially eternally grateful to the poster who kindly adviced me to take vitamin B supplements as they really work on me.

RuggyPeg · 10/12/2019 13:04

Bem - just wash/shower as normal and then swipe over your pits with an acid toner (I splosh a bit on cotton wool and use that)...I use one of the cheap Aldi ones but any will do. Works miles better than deodorant.

suziesue45 · 10/12/2019 13:19

Primark foundation, its £2.50 and has a variety of colours/tones, full coverage and I've had a few compliments while wearing too, amazing stuff.

professionalnomad · 10/12/2019 14:06

Mia Tui - best work bag I've ever had
M&S leggings are amazing

Honeybee85 · 10/12/2019 14:14

To those who wrote double cleansing, what do you mean?

Oil cleanser + face wash or cleansing milk
Cleansing milk + toner

I’m intrigued and need to know Grin

flopsytheflatcat · 10/12/2019 14:31

Superdrug vitamin E stuff has saved my skin.

It's usually an oil cleanser first to remove make up and sunscreen, then a 2nd cleanser that suits your skin type or any specific needs your skin has.

My face doesn't feel clean now unless I cleanse twice!

@RuggyPeg Thanks, I'm definitely going to try that.

MoltoAgitato · 10/12/2019 19:57

I didn’t get on with oil cleansers (they gave me spots), so I use a hot cloth cleanser (REN, Eve Lom, Superdrug Vit E etc) or good old Pond’s Cold Cream, followed by micellar water.

KaleidoscopeEyes · 10/12/2019 19:58

You lot need to stop making me spend money!

Hepsibar · 10/12/2019 20:00

Never to use any products tested on animals ... the thought of their burning eyes and skin and suffering for the vanity of humans truly awful.

Honeybee85 · 11/12/2019 06:16

@BemidjiMinnesota

Thank you so much 😊

Do you also use a toner after the washing then or do you head straight to serum/moisturizer?

SplatPancake · 11/12/2019 08:13

All the skincare threads on here are an absolute mine of information — special shout out to @botemp for her patience and considered responses; the very opposite of the snippy, rude, aggressive awfulness of super shillers Sali Hughes and Caroline Hirons. There are some very conscientious sunscreen testers on there!!

[In fact, it was the regular shutting down of S&B threads questioning “influencers” which subsequently drove me to another forum where the scales were truly blown from my eyes re the antics of these two (and they’re certainly not alone) other instamums/fashion and lifestyle influencers and the like... so in a way that’s a good thing I’ve learnt from here?]

I also really enjoy what started as the Parisian style threads, which have also become a lovely non-cliquey community with interesting and different views, and posters of all ages and backgrounds. Lots of interesting tips and links.

The “how to look expensive” threads have made me howl too, probably not in the intended way. And I lurk on the perfumista threads occasionally — always interesting.

BemidjiMinnesota · 11/12/2019 08:28

@Honeybee85

My skin is really dehydrated and used to be really red and uneven textured so now I use a watery hydrating toner after cleansing (currently swapping between a Korean one and a rosewater one), then a serum (Superdrug Simply Pure - it costs around £2.50 and is great), then a moisturiser (The Ordinary Natural Moisturising Factors) mixed with a few drops of one of The Ordinary Oils. Layering the products like this traps the layer below so it absorbs into your skin.

It sounds like a lot but it only takes a couple of minutes and my skin has never been better. The skincare threads on here are great for advice and product recommendations.

PurpleDaisies · 11/12/2019 08:35

Another vote for Superdrug Radiance range. A fraction of what I used to pay, cruelty free and my skin has never been better.

BlueSkyAtChristmas · 11/12/2019 08:51

@SplatPancake I agree. It’s the style and beauty communities that keep me coming back to mumsnet. I’ve been an active member of the perfumista thread for years now, have dipped off recently due to time. But it’s still the same lovely place. I’m dipping my toes into skincare and agree botemp in particular is an absolute star and has the patience of a saint! I also lurk on the style threads. All of these help you cut through the marketing and influencer bulls**t

S&B is the nicest, non-bitchy online space. Long may it stay that way!

Honeybee85 · 11/12/2019 09:01

@BemidjiMinnesota

Thanks a lot! Sounds like you did a lot of effort to see what’s best for you 👌!

So if I understand well you use what we call here an essence, a very moisturizing toner/serum (typically Asian product) to prepare your skin with an extra moisture layer. So the toner doesn’t do extra cleaning, just moisturize.

BemidjiMinnesota · 11/12/2019 09:37

@Honeybee85

Yes! The toner is like an essence, it only hydrates and prepares the skin for the next steps, it's not a stringent toner like the usual Western 3 step skincare regime. Because I alreasy double cleanse I don't need the toner to do any more cleansing.

I use Pyunkang Yul hydrating toner, and/or a rosewater and glycerin toner from my local pharmacy.

Honeybee85 · 11/12/2019 10:46

@BemidjiMinnesota

Rosewater with glycerin sounds heavenly! I love vintage style beauty products. Will have a look on Amazon.

Jumpi · 11/12/2019 19:00

Someone on a thread posted the name of an Instagram account that showed where outfits seen on tv had come from. It was amazing, especially for things like strictly’s Tess and Claudia’s outfits, I got quite a few things because of it but stupidly didn’t follow and now can’t remember the name of it.

🤦🏻‍♀️

RuggyPeg · 11/12/2019 20:50

Jumpi - it's called the fashion finders

Jumpi · 11/12/2019 21:34

Shock thanks so much Ruggy, it’s been bothering me for a while.

LookToTreblesGoingTreblesGone · 11/12/2019 21:43
