Kate Middleton/Duchess of Cambridge needs a professional makeup artist?

I have always been a fan. I think she is intelligent and very conscious of the way she presents herself. Lately I cannot help but compare her makeup to the Duchess of Sussex. Meghan’s makeup looks are a lot better/glossy/smooth. Generally photographs better. Kates eye looks age her a bit so does the harsh contour. Really feel like she needs a professional makeup artist.

She definitely needs more of a classic look rather than an edgy, modern look because of her role.

ploopsie · 23/11/2019 12:24

Who said anything about edgy?

You can be royal & modern, the below manage it

Queen Mathilde
Queen Maxima
Queen Rania
Queen Letizia

NerdyNightOwl · 23/11/2019 12:31

I think Kates style has morphed into something that pays homage to the more traditional mindset of the British Monarchy. Occasionally though we do get to see some edgy outfits from Kate. Remember the blue dress and hat from the royal ascot?

Queen Elizabeth & her fab use of colour makes her look super fresh.

SlightlyBonkersQFA · 23/11/2019 12:37

I know this is in style and beauty but Kate looks a million times better than the average woman so I don't think she needs any help! God if I looked as bad as Kate I'd be delighted!

Megan obviously has years of working with professional make up artists. It was a higher bar all along (make up wise) for meghan. Different situations.

Prince Andrew needs a kick in the head far more than Kate needs a make up artist. Sorry. Couldn't help that.

NerdyNightOwl · 23/11/2019 12:39

Haha agree re Andrew.

I think you're right that kate's ''inner citadel'' is protected by some fairly robust walls and she is mature enough to know that the criticism is inevitable. She has been torn apart (to the same degree as Meghan imo, I remember, people forget) there were some really nasty threads on here, relentless asking what was the ''point'' of her, waity katie, no role model, social climber, on and on and on, but she never showed any visible sign of being upset or derailed. I'm Irish so none of it is any of my business but I think with lazy entitled shites like Andrew in their midst, the queen is actually relieved she can die knowing that Kate has the strength to just keep on keeping on. With or without eyeliner.

SlightlyBonkersQFA · 23/11/2019 12:45

And......... Kate M could have done way better than William, she definitely could have had a more fun life, but she loves him, so, if he can keep his mickey zipped up (to quote Twink) then they should be able to keep the show on the road.

Offred2 · 23/11/2019 12:47

And so what if a woman in her late thirties did happen to look 40, 45 or even (shock horror!) 50?

Why should this have any real impact on her life or on people’s feelings towards her?

NerdyNightOwl · 23/11/2019 12:48

Yup. Kates worth has nothing to do with her makeup. She has proved that. They (all the royals) smooth realise however that looking a certain way (outfit/hair/makeup) is part of and expected of the job. That’s why they spend so much time money and effort on it to look the part. Otherwise they would show up to engagements having rolled out of bed in their pjs.

I would love a more edgy royal. And not Harry and his gap year style bracelets.

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 23/11/2019 13:36

I don't think royal men have influenced style since the Prince of Wales who became Edward VIII with his Prince of Wales check and his tie knots. Harry and William wearing open neck shirts and brown suede boots isn't going to change sales in the same way as Kate and Meghan's costume jewellery, handbags and occasional high street buys. From that point of view personal comment is inevitable.

Kate looks much younger off duty when she's casually dressed, relaxed and with her family. Don't we all? She's adopted a working wardrobe and it seems influenced by her mother's style, for clothes and makeup and that of the senior royal women like the Queen Mother, the Queen and Camilla, who all adopted a settled style and keep going with it. Kate and William seem to do similar with their children, have an on display style and a private style.

It's like a lot of professional attire, aging when you're younger and as time goes on, it's the opposite. She probably would look younger with a softer makeup look, but it's part of the public persona she's chosen.

DuchessofWoke · 23/11/2019 13:41

I think Kate is bloody amazing. She’s an asset to the royal family. I hope each and every one of them realises how lucky they are that she agreed to marry William.

iamadalek2 · 23/11/2019 13:42

@Noeuf "gap year bracelets" hahaha this is the best comment ever pmsl

OverByYer · 23/11/2019 13:44

I think she looks lovely

minesagin37 · 23/11/2019 13:44

Don't be so shallow. To think you need a life!

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 23/11/2019 13:44

She likes doing her own make up apparently. I remember reading Bobbi Brown gave her some pre wedding lessons but on the day she did her own.

I don't like this trend for glowy, fresh make up,everyone just ends up looking shiny.

NameChangeNugget · 23/11/2019 13:53

Lately I cannot help but compare her makeup to the Duchess of Sussex

Maybe take a hobby.

Nasty, misogynistic post

MIdgebabe · 23/11/2019 14:00

There is a huge difference between rolling up in PJs to anything in public and being forced to look a certain way to satisfy a misogynist As long as she is clean and basically respectful of the people around her, that's fine by me.

BusterGonad · 23/11/2019 14:48

I'm not going to comment on whether Kate needs a make up artist or not but I will say she looked gorgeous on the kids first day back at school in September, I think her style suits her and I'd love to look like her, make up and all.

BusterGonad · 23/11/2019 14:49

Ploopsie I think Kate looks great in that photo! I love her outfit.

SpiderCharlotte · 23/11/2019 14:59

She looks a lot older than her late thirties and I feel like it may be because of her eye makeup style.

You state this like it's a fact, not an opinion. I think it's nonsense.

coldfeetallthetime · 23/11/2019 15:04

Aww this is sad. Why should she have to try and look younger? Who made that a requirement.

I must admit I didn’t think for a minute that she’d do her own make up. Does she really?

HUZZAH212 · 23/11/2019 15:23

It's apples and oranges - Meghan was an actress who mixed in celeb circles and had her makeup done for years. Kate doesn't have the same background at all and seems much sports orientated. Plus I think once the royals find a 'look' they stick to it. Kate hasn't even been able to have a fringe or two inches took off her hair without masses of media comments. It must be beyond boring to think if you try and mix it up a bit you're just going to get picked apart in the press.

Span1elsRock · 23/11/2019 15:37

Kate has the look of a permanently knackered mum who's hurtling towards 40...... I don't think it's her make up.

I think she's a lot more hands on with her DC than other royal mums have been before her. She's breaking moulds, just very quietly.
