Kate Middleton/Duchess of Cambridge needs a professional makeup artist?

I have always been a fan. I think she is intelligent and very conscious of the way she presents herself. Lately I cannot help but compare her makeup to the Duchess of Sussex. Meghan’s makeup looks are a lot better/glossy/smooth. Generally photographs better. Kates eye looks age her a bit so does the harsh contour. Really feel like she needs a professional makeup artist.

Kate's makeup style IS ageing on her. it's easy to get stuck using the same makeup style decade after decade though. I still use kohl liner, which I started at age 14 and I'm in my 60s now! I use softer colours than black now though.

How does criticizing one person for another make it okay? Again just a general observation. You can have a civil conversation without getting worked up.

Oh I run my makeup and clothes choices past my DD too. She is always brutally honest with me! Grin

Waffles80 · 23/11/2019 10:59

Because your grounds for criticism were misogynistic. I did explain that in my previous post.

If you were critical of her for a non-sexist reason then that would be fair comment, but it’s important to challenge sexist views and encourage sexist people give their heads a wobble.

peaceanddove · 23/11/2019 11:02

I agree that Megan's make up is much better applied, enhancing her features softly. Katherine's eye make up is starting to look a bit harsh and flat. I think this happens a lot, when you get into the habit of using make up exactly the same way for years and years.

NerdyNightOwl · 23/11/2019 11:08

This is an internet post dear poster. You can have opinions here, but yelling at people on the internet or calling them “sexist” and “stupid” isn’t going to change a thing in the world. Most women (myself included) agree with you regarding changing the culture of sexism. It is a lot more complicated than by shutting people down on the internet. Changing cultural barriers in familial units, work places, access to health and education, childcare just to name a few.
Also just to add, before getting worked up on the internet, we should try to evaluate the manner in which things are posted, the intentions behind it and the heart of the matter. Remembering language itself has no connotation unless a tone of voice is associated. It’s hard to read something online and be sure of the tone in which things were said. Having a civil discussion even if we may not agree is important.

Agreed, Meghans makeup is a lot softer! Kates is a bit harsh. I remembering watching this makeup artist on YouTube who said blending is key because there are no harsh lines in nature.

Well, that’s a strange turn

AutumnRose1 · 23/11/2019 11:15

“ Really feel like she needs a professional makeup artist.”

And William? Do you think he needs one too?

DesMartinsPetCat · 23/11/2019 11:16

Hey OP, would love to see a photo of you and we can all weigh in on how we think you look.

NerdyNightOwl · 23/11/2019 11:17

He needs a stylist. Although his style has improved post Pakistan. Really liked his velvet jacket

Tell that to a zebra!

Mrsjayy · 23/11/2019 11:18

she looks her age that is what women in their late 30s can look like btw she probably has a MUA for public engagements comparing her to the Duchess of Sussex is apples and oranges they have different face shapes skin tones etc etc.

NerdyNightOwl · 23/11/2019 11:19

By the general sense of nasty replies on a simple style and beauty thread, I am gonna pass on this offer😂

OP posts:
ploopsie · 23/11/2019 11:20

I think her general style, clothing, hair & make up is quite ageing. I'm similar aged & none of my peers would dress in her style/buy her clothes etc.

BusterGonad · 23/11/2019 11:20

What a strange last post Op!

Lexplorer · 23/11/2019 11:21

Balding is ageing, do men on the internet criticise the DOC for not wearing a hair-piece?

NerdyNightOwl · 23/11/2019 11:21

Which one? I will try to explain better

OP posts:
ploopsie · 23/11/2019 11:24

I think Wills would look better with more hair. His choice though same for Kate

nocluewhattodoo · 23/11/2019 11:27

Who cares if her makeup is 'dated'? She looks bloody brilliant, I'd like to see those criticising her as I doubt they are anything special themselves. Personally I think her being overly done up like Meghan wouldn't be popular, she is a future queen and wants to be taken seriously, not criticised for caring too much about her appearance. And I highly doubt she wishes to look like a trashy makeup coated youtuber. She can't win and people starting ridiculous threads on forums critiqueing women's appearances further entrenches the problem, if you genuinely thought there needs to be change to the way women are treated and spoken about OP you wouldn't be engaging in this sort of thing.

Mrsjayy · 23/11/2019 11:28

I am goggiling the DoC she is 37 and looks 37 I have no idea what this "ageing" thing is about it almost as if some people are terrified of not looking 25

NerdyNightOwl · 23/11/2019 11:31

I don’t know if Kate has aged as much as her makeup is aging. If she goes in with a lighter hand it would complement her more or maybe different colours? Although lighter colours may not pick up well for cameras. I suspect she has found a standard style that works for her face/the engagements she goes to/the fact that she’s photographed all the time etc

OP posts:
ploopsie · 23/11/2019 11:32

Is Meghan overly done up?

iamadalek2 · 23/11/2019 11:32

Love this random post. Wish I had time to worry out Kate's eye make-up HAHAHAHAHAHA

NerdyNightOwl · 23/11/2019 11:37

Omg this is turning into a Meghan vs Kate thread. Just to clarify, I just wanted opinions on makeup styles. I love colours and makeup and I love the royals. Simply wanted to hear other peoples views that’s all. It wasn’t a feminism chat or Meghan is better/Kate is better. If it’s going to cause discussions on matters other than style and beauty, we need to shut this thread down. Also frankly if we can’t handle critique on style and beauty like grown-ups, why are we even following threads on Style and Beauty?
