Kate Middleton/Duchess of Cambridge needs a professional makeup artist?

I have always been a fan. I think she is intelligent and very conscious of the way she presents herself. Lately I cannot help but compare her makeup to the Duchess of Sussex. Meghan’s makeup looks are a lot better/glossy/smooth. Generally photographs better. Kates eye looks age her a bit so does the harsh contour. Really feel like she needs a professional makeup artist.

OP posts:

I assumed she already has a professional MUA? Nowadays ordinary people hire them for all sorts of occasions.

Floisme · 23/11/2019 15:51

I'm always a bit Confused at the idea that we can enjoy clothes and make up and yet not notice how those things make people look. I do try and avoid discussions if I think someone's appearance has nothing to do with their role but I don't believe the Royal Family fit into that.

I think Kate looks exactly her age and why on earth shouldn't she? I would also say that her role is to look like a safe pair of hands and, despite not being a royalist, I think she does that pretty well. She looks to me like a woman with conservative taste and, given that she married into Britain's premier establishment family, I hope that's true for her own sake.

friendlyflicka · 23/11/2019 17:00

Not my personal style, but then neither is Claudia Winkelman.

dontgobaconmyheart · 23/11/2019 18:21

Oh OP do get a grip Confused her makeup isn't a problem, though your thought process is- perhaps you 'need' to find other things to do than compare women, succumb to men-pleasing ideas that women look better if they look younger and advertise misogyny on the internet. That would be a better use of the time.

I can't imagine the DoC would give you the time of day let alone care less about how you think her eye makeup ages her.

TopBitchoftheWitches · 23/11/2019 18:22

Op, you clearly have an issue with Kate, recalling outfits she has worn. Get a hobby or something, this isn't healthy.

LightweightStroller · 23/11/2019 18:41

Wow, OP, who knew an observation in style and beauty would draw down the Vipers’ Fury! It is a bit hilarious to be called names over an observation.

FWIW, I think Kate uses too much powder and needs a Korean look update - as do we all when we have kids I suppose and those late nights and broken sleep get to us. A lighter and more luminous makeup would help, considering she piles it on so thick.

Kate has chosen arse over her face also, and that’s her choice, but she can sometimes look gaunt, as women who exercise a lot often do. The gash of contour/bronzer/ blush does her no favours.

It might be better and less mask like if she eased off on the harsh lines of eyeliner, and dark eye shadow, and went with a more neutral palate rather than the dark smokey look all the time.

Just my opinion!
(I believe we’re all allowed a couple.) Peace and love.

SpiderCharlotte · 23/11/2019 18:52

@LightweightStroller it may well be 'hilarious' to be called names about an opinion, I definitely don't think it's necessary.

However, I always think that when opinions are unkind, such as slating a woman for her appearance, they are best kept to oneself. It's just not very nice. Some think that if they cry 'it's just my opinion' it means they can bitch away about someone.

PortiaCastis · 23/11/2019 18:56

Ripping another woman apart isnt very nice especially when you don't show your own face.

LightweightStroller · 23/11/2019 20:12

I agree, ripping another woman apart isnt very nice, so perhaps we can drop the name calling, and just leave the OP alone, and let her express her opinions on a public Internet forum about the make up of a person who is paid by the public purse to represent us?

There is no need to shut her down for expressing her opinion that she thinks Kate could update her makeup.

It’s an opinion I agree with. Kate’s makeup ages her and she doesn’t look her best with such old style powdery formulations, and the dark palate round her eyes..

I’m not commenting on you as I don’t pay you to represent me. You, like me, can have a completely anonymous plebeian life, and comments about makeup & style etc are purely personal.

MIdgebabe · 23/11/2019 21:16

In your opinion, to your eyes , it's aging and means she doesn't look, in your opinion, as best as she could.

In other peoples opinion having a woman in the limelight who refuses to be tied to the hamster wheel of having to look as young as possible could be inspirational and supportive. Just the sort of thing that the public purse should support. Helping to allow and encourage women to live as women not ornaments.

LemonPrism · 23/11/2019 21:20

Meghan just has better skin tbh

frugalkitty · 23/11/2019 22:58

I think the difference between Meghan and Kate's make up is that Meghan goes for a more dewy/glow-y look than Kate who tends to look more 'powdered' (in my opinion). I don't think make up is about looking younger, just a better/fresher/less tired version of you, at least that's what I hope it does for me. I think Kate generally looks more relaxed in more casual wear, but has developed a style like a uniform to wear for all the formal stuff she does, and then can go to town a bit more in the evening dresses.

icannotremember · 24/11/2019 00:31

If I looked like she does I would bloody love myself. I'm all for a good down with the royals chat, but this is just mean and not accurate anyway.

BusterGonad · 24/11/2019 01:11

I must admit I do love Meghans make up, especially on remembrance day at Windsor church (I think).

RonaldMcDonald · 24/11/2019 01:31

Agreed her make up and Botox are terrible and heavy handed

Cohle · 24/11/2019 01:35

I disagree that Kate needs to wear make up, needs a make up artist or that looking younger than her age should be her, or indeed any women's, aim.

I think it's odd to think it's ok for you to criticise Kate Middleton but not for other's to criticise you. And I think you should reflect on some of the biases your posts reflect.

HUZZAH212 · 24/11/2019 01:44

I still say you can't compare Kate and Meghan. Totally different backgrounds. It's no different to when Grace Kelly married to become Princess of Monaco.

Passthecherrycoke · 24/11/2019 02:14

Find this thread a bit strange- it’s a post about make up in style and beauty, why are posters critiquing the OP for discussing a famous persons make up?

Kate famously does her own make up and I agree OP, she doesn’t always pull it off. Bit too much eye liner. I can only guess that it’s just too much hassle to have a mua for every formal event, she’s not a Kardashian happy to sit in make up for 90mins a day.

I do agree she needs to update her make up from a look she found 20 years ago and this thread has made me realise I need to do the same really! All bobby brown taupes here Blush

ploopsie · 24/11/2019 06:21

Yeah I'm confused why we can't critique Kate's look, I assume only fawning is allowed.

shearwater · 24/11/2019 06:25

She looks great and is allowed to age.

She is almost certainly underweight though which does not do wonders for your face.

SpiderCharlotte · 24/11/2019 07:31

Yeah I'm confused why we can't critique Kate's look, I assume only fawning is allowed.

Goodness, you don't know the difference between critique and just being unpleasant?

Most of us are able to critique without the need to be unkind or over personal about someone, it's not that difficult.

ploopsie · 24/11/2019 07:51

Goodness, you don't know the difference between critique and just being unpleasant?

From looking at this thread? Then no I don't, heavens above! 🙄

Palaver1 · 24/11/2019 08:17

You really can’t compare the them due to the genetic makeup of their skin.
I think they both look fab but we can’t expect them to look flawless.
Both are trying the best they can be in very difficult situations.
Who are we to judge.
She’s happy with her looks that should be enough.

SpiderCharlotte · 24/11/2019 08:49

From looking at this thread?

Well no, in general. Obviously.

ploopsie · 24/11/2019 10:16

Obviously? Because you say so? Ok then.

It's fine if you hold up Kate as a style icon just like it's fine for me to think she is styled older than her years.
