It's cold outside so the lovely friendly perfumistas are by the fireplace, sniffing our scarves and dreaming of the desert

I think we're on thread no 24 - appropriate for the upcoming advent fun!

I'm not starting until the 8th of January, stinky... well after my birthday and some time away :-)

SOTD is grit and determination as I try to tackle the post-Christmas chaos (where will all these kind gifts actually fit in the house?!) while DDs are being taken to the zoo...

Stinkyeddie · 30/12/2019 11:13

Ha!
I have my neice here so chaos is ensuing :)

Hello, I’m just catching up on the thread! I really enjoyed the Advent calendar and have made a note of a couple of perfumes to try. Thank you MrsMoggs!

Incidentally, from a post further up the thread, I do have Fancy Nights, MrsM, but don’t think I actually recommended it. It is very patchouli heavy on me. But I last tried it over a year ago, so I really need to try it again. My tastes have definitely changed over the last few years.

I have a huge box of samples and I am making the effort to cull. I have the very bad habit of testing a sample and then leaving a little bit, just so that I can try it again if I want to later. It’s silly because of course they’re very likely to go off and I am now inundated with nearly-finished testers!

So, I have now finished my Zoologist Chameleon tester. This is a weird but pleasant floral marine fragrance with undertones of animalic salty mudflat. I wouldn’t want a full bottle.

I also finished 😢 Vero Profumo Naja, a stunning honeyed floral with sweet tobacco and leather. The leather is very scented and warm. I would love a full bottle but it is over £200 for 50mls! I might get another sample.

SOTD is White Queen from 4160Tuesdays.

teta · 30/12/2019 12:40

@Calm is Naja in stock anywhere?
Because the founder of this line passed away a while ago and everything is mostly out of stock apart from the odd sample . I adore Mito from this line but it's oos everywhere. It's such a shame so many perfume lines are becoming defunct. Usually the really talented ones too. Marina Barcenilla is another one I'm really sad about.
Sotd is maybe Wrappings or Jo Malone Nutmeg and ginger. I'm coming to the end of my bottles and want to finish them.

FloraMacDonald · 30/12/2019 14:48

SOTM Parles moi de parfum Gardens of India - a nice light subtle fragrance.
SOTA a vile concoction made by my 6 year old with her Invent a Scent Christmas present. The whole kitchen reeks. Think I'll just have a couple of paracetamol for dinner thanks.
Hmm & Confused

Lotsofpots · 30/12/2019 18:25

SOTD zoologist civet. This is a sample and when I first tried it a few weeks ago I liked it but I've found it way too overpowering today.

mother we returned home this afternoon and I've spent literally hours trying to work out where to fit all the bloody toys as acquired.

SOTD FM POAL, for an optician appointment, then dropping off dry cleaning. Such glamour!

Calmasasleepycat · 30/12/2019 22:19

teta, I had checked on the Bloom Perfumery website to find the current price of Naja and noticed it was out of stock but thought nothing of it. I’ve just now gone back in and yes, you’re right, all the Vero Profumo perfumes are out of stock. What a shame 🙁! I did notice that they still have some Mito extrait samples left if you wanted a final fling 😊

MrsMoggs · 31/12/2019 10:18

I could be tempted to get another Mito sample, although the Bloom 1ml format is particularly frustrating. Anyone else find their plastic bottles are prone to evaporation?

SotD is Or Black. A soapy clean but richly aromatic fougere, with mossy, leathery depth. It often turns up in TK Maxx Smile.

Stinkyeddie · 31/12/2019 12:16

Sotd added amber sexiest scent

MotherOfDragonite · 31/12/2019 15:14

SOTD is Ffern Winter 20, which is just so satisfyingly spicy in the cold weather. I feel like a walking, talking pomander!

I've bought an HdeP sample set, which I am extremely over-excited about.

Stinkyeddie · 31/12/2019 23:08

Happy new year all xxxx

Lotsofpots · 31/12/2019 23:18

I'm heading to bed (before midnight) in sexiest scent.

Happy new year all x

Happy New Year everyone!

MrsMoggs · 01/01/2020 09:57

Happy New Year, Lovely Perfumistas. Hoping it brings love, peace and good health.

Had a quiet night until a neighbour set off some sort of industrial firework mortar just a few metres from our back door and we nearly lost our windows. Shock

Stinkyeddie · 01/01/2020 09:59

We had the same mrsm!

MrsMoggs · 01/01/2020 10:12

Bringing in the New Year with the rather oddly named Greedy Essense (Weil), stable mate of the rather marvellous Suki Essence. Both of these nod to Tauer I think. Suki Essence always strikes me as a lighter L'AdDM and I see reviewers see the similarities between Greedy Essence and Fruitchouli Flash.

Blind bought this, against type, out of curiosity. It's a very gentle confection, with light layers of non-sickly fruit, non-sickly vanilla and, musk and light woods. Understated and nicely done but not really my thing.

Stinkyeddie · 01/01/2020 10:13

I'm im day 1 of the JJB :)

Understated musk. Very pleasant.

teta · 01/01/2020 11:30

Happy new decade perfumistas 🎉🎉.

I'm really looking forward to my two girls returning home tomorrow from visiting their Canadian Grandma ( and skiing a bit).
Sotd is Arket Oakmoss perfume oil.

Bluesheep8 · 01/01/2020 15:28

Happy New year everyone. SOTD is white musk

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 01/01/2020 21:06

Happy new year! SOTD Kiehl’s Musk. We finally had Christmas dinner today, after cancelling it last week.

MotherOfDragonite · 01/01/2020 23:02

Happy new year, everyone. May it bring you all manner of good things.

SOTD was Irreverent.

I'm off tomorrow for two nights in a hotel where there are activities for the children for an hour or two each day! and a swimming pool etc and nice walks. I could not be more excited. I didn't know until recentl that such things existed and it is a Christmas present.

Stinkyeddie · 02/01/2020 16:31

Sotd pp by the fireplace
This is my last (gasp!) Bottle...

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 02/01/2020 17:42

SOTD is todays purchase of Tea Tonique. Total blind buy and had absolutely no idea what to expect but i like it. Cost a whole £15 for 100mls so a bragin too Smile
