How often do you wash your hair?

As above really! Just curious - I have fine hair and always washed it daily. Trying to increase the length of time between washes to extend the lifetime of my colour. Thanks

Every other day

Mamasaurus82 · 16/11/2019 19:21

Twice a week. Sometimes more.

Turt · 16/11/2019 19:22

Once a week. I am mixed race so my hair is more on the dry side so it doesn't get greasy often. I'm very lucky I only have to straighten it once a week too Grin

stucknoue · 16/11/2019 19:35

Every other day. It's really thin but switched to a shampoo with parabens and it's not as greasy

Bluerussian · 16/11/2019 19:48

Most days, I say 'most' because some days I don't go out and might not bother. Certainly when I was at work it was every morning and if I was going out in the evening, I'd shower and wash it again.

haverhill · 16/11/2019 19:50

Every other day. It’s very fine and straight. I often co-wash, or just use shampoo.

Fochit · 16/11/2019 20:07

Every 6-7 days.
Pleased to see I’m not the only one

Fochit · 16/11/2019 20:08

haverhill
Do you come from Haverhill?

SpeckledyHen · 16/11/2019 20:11

Every day . Morning before work . Couldn’t stand feeling dirty. If going out in the evening I do it again .

Insertdeadcatsnamehere · 16/11/2019 20:19

Lasts 5 or 6 days if I blow dry or straighten it. 2 or 3 days if I don't as it turns into a frizzy mess. Trying to motivate myself to style it properly after every wash as it saves time in the long run.

MiniTheMinx · 16/11/2019 20:19

Twice a week although I could leave it longer. It's wavy, thick coarse hair. I could scour pans with it.
I wash it because it becomes more coarse in texture the longer it's left.

megletthesecond · 16/11/2019 20:21

6/7 times a week. Fine, wavy hair.

picklemepopcorn · 16/11/2019 20:23

Once every ten days or so, but never with shampoo.

I've been gradually extending it, using non commercial cleansers. Things like eggs and bicarb give a thorough stripping wash, I do that every month or so, but my hair gets really fly away and fluffy after that. Things like conker, oats, coffee, henna, give a much gentler wash. Obviously, you have to read around and experiment- you can't just stop washing your hair.

TheJoxter · 16/11/2019 20:25

As a teenager I washed it every morning otherwise I didn’t feel comfortable going out. I gradually started doing it every other day then worked up to every 2-3 days. Since starting the curly girl method (no shampoo) I’ve found myself going 4-5 days without washing it without even realising because it doesn’t get greasy!

Lhastingsmua · 16/11/2019 20:26

I wash it about 2/3 times a week so roughly every other day, however I’m trying to wash it less frequently now. My hair is highlighted and a bit damaged so I want to spend less time styling it in general to prevent breakage etc.

Lhastingsmua · 16/11/2019 20:28

I think washing your hair everyday is completely different if you have short hair vs long hair. Long hair has more complications.

ThursdayLastWeek · 16/11/2019 20:29

Five days out of seven I suppose. Depends on whether I’ve exercised.

ClientListQueen · 16/11/2019 20:32

Every 3-4 days, conditioner only

Deadringer · 16/11/2019 20:33

Twice a week with solid shampoo, no conditioner. My hair is fine and a little dry and it gets frizzy and tangled if I wash it too often.

mindproject · 16/11/2019 20:35

Every 2 or 3 days. On day 3 it looks like crap.

Hecateh · 16/11/2019 20:39

3 to 4 days in winter, best done day 3.

2 to 3 days in summer - unless there's lots of product 3 days is fine.

Every day when on holiday somewhere hot.

TheOrigFV45 · 16/11/2019 20:43

I wash mine most days, sometimes twice. It's entirely dependent on when I exercise. I either run or swim most days, but sometimes both. I have lots and lots of hair. Luckily I work from home so can just tie it up wet or leave it down to dry naturally. I rarely blow dry it, but sometimes straighten it.

LookToTreblesGoingTreblesGone · 16/11/2019 20:44

Since changing to a solid bar shampoo it only needs washing once a week. And as the week goes on it actually looks better and better! Days 4, 5, 6 and 7 looks silky and gorgeous. I only wash it after a week because I feel I ought to Confused

Fochit · 16/11/2019 20:45

Which solid bar do you use?
