How often do you wash your hair?

As above really! Just curious - I have fine hair and always washed it daily. Trying to increase the length of time between washes to extend the lifetime of my colour. Thanks

Op -And others with fine hair that goes greasy, don’t know if it will help but it worked for me...
I have fine hair and used to have to wash it every day. Someone told me to shampoo twice and only condition the ends. Now I can get away with every two or three days

PlasticPatty · 16/11/2019 18:22

Every other day, or more.

DooBop · 16/11/2019 18:27

Every other day, but on the day between I still wet and condition it. I can’t style it properly without setting it beforehand. Occasionally I skip a day and wear it up.

BreadSauceHmm · 16/11/2019 18:30

Twice a week.

LemonPrism · 16/11/2019 18:41

Once a week, otherwise my scalp gets dry and flakey. I've tested it before tbh and it took over 2 weeks to get greasy. I wash it more often that that ofc because that's gross

Bluewavescrashing · 16/11/2019 18:42

Every other day with a shampoo bar.

Phipps91 · 16/11/2019 18:42

Once a week for me! Sometimes I'll leave it longer depending on what's in my diary! Smile

BobbinThreadbare123 · 16/11/2019 18:43

Very thick, dry, curly hair - still wash it every day because I like the feeling of a clean scalp. Leaving it feels icky somehow.

8Iris8 · 16/11/2019 18:45

Twice a week max, I have fine shoulder length hair. Any more than that dries out my hair. I use the Organix one with Biotin at the moment and always condition before shampooing.

Wavyheaded · 16/11/2019 18:45

Twice a week, but every other time I just do a co-wash. My hair is pretty dry and frizzy and co-washing has really helped.

octoberstorms · 16/11/2019 18:47

I used to wash it everyday when I used a cheap shampoo (from lidls) but now I do it every 2-3 days as I've started using a better quality one that makes me hair feel and look amazing for days. Definitely worth the extra £4 or so.

Sakura7 · 16/11/2019 18:48

I used to wash it every other day but in the last few months I've started pushing it out to every third day and it's fine, plus my hair is in better condition.

A friend of mine is a hairdresser and she washes hers once a week, with a rinse in between proper washes. She thinks most of us wash our hair far too much. Her hair looks great and certainly doesn't smell.

donut8 · 16/11/2019 18:49

Every 4 days, I have really thick hair

AnneLovesGilbert · 16/11/2019 18:50

Twice a week. It’s long and very thick and wavy with a fringe. In the summer I wash the fringe more often. Solid shampoo bar and Aldi conditioner - amazing for taming a big mane.

GoodwithRocksandGems · 16/11/2019 18:51

Every 2-3 days. On day 4 it looks appalling so rarely go that long. Mid length fine hair but lots of it.

ifeellikeanidiot · 16/11/2019 18:52

Long thick curly hair. Once or twice a week. I shampoo the scalp but only use conditioner on the rest of my hair.

Foodtheif · 16/11/2019 18:53

Every other but I have to tie it up the second day as it feels awful (looks okay though) was washing every day but hairdresser said to stop as it was ruining it and fading the colour too quickly.

MsJuniper · 16/11/2019 18:57

Twice a week usually but this week only once which isn't enough. It looks best on day 2. It's shoulder length, very thick and flyaway.

StarySkyTonight · 16/11/2019 18:59

I have very fine, shoulder length hair and I was it once a week, occasionally twice a week. It starts to get a bit greasy by day 4 and I'll generally use a little bit of dry shampoo on it, day 5 a bit more dry shampoo and day 6 it goes up in a pony tail or a bun, day 7 its in a pony tail or bun until it gets washed at some point in the day. I started doing this about 4 years ago and my hair has never been healthier.

igglepigglesbestie · 16/11/2019 18:59

Every 6 days.
Days 1-3 straightened and down, 4 and 5 in a ponytail and 6 in a top knot style bun with dry shampoo.
Doesn’t look greasy, just not as blonde by the end of the 6 days.

ApplejackCriesOnTheInside · 16/11/2019 19:04

Every day. Shiny, swishy sweet-smelling hair is my thing.

kalinkafoxtrot45 · 16/11/2019 19:09

Every 2-3 days. It’s really thick and curly and takes forever to dry, so every day is not practical.

CountFosco · 16/11/2019 19:11

It has been a revelation to me on MN how many people don't wash their hair everyday. Mine is very short now and I wash it after swimming every day but whatever length it has been I've always washed it every day. Never dyed it though.

ForTheFew · 16/11/2019 19:11

It has to be once a day as it’s so fine and smooth.

anxioussue · 16/11/2019 19:12

Once a week, occasionally once a fortnight.
