Hello all.

Love the boots Ella and I’m quite tempted by some sparkly leggings Laska but can’t think when I’d wear them really.

My hoodie was refunded and I’ve just taken delivery of the very similar woolovers one which I saw a couple of months ago. It’s very similar to the hush one in style, fits my arms better and although not quite as soft, also doesn’t feel as delicate. I also got some lovely soft grey merino/cashmere socks to wear with boots on cold days.

I’m trying to decide what to wear for the work Christmas do and I’m kicking myself for not getting that toast velvet jumpsuit in the sale. I’d quite like to wear something a bit different but haven’t seen anything I like just yet.

Laska2Meryls · 14/11/2019 20:29

Q. I’m quite tempted by some sparkly leggings Laska but can’t think when I’d wear them..

Answer: all the time, !! I am planning on wearing mine just out during the day, to work with a greay or black meryl ( whats left of work, that is , as I am retiring in 3 weeks Shock)..

They are just fab (the Tu ones that is, ) .. sparkly but not too in-your-face-disco-queen sparkly .. -although they would be fab for that also.

Laska2Meryls · 14/11/2019 20:30

... goes to look at Nash and Duff , Miffy as if i needed any more temptation

Laska2Meryls · 14/11/2019 20:33

..ooh nice stuff , but only on etsy?

Ellapaella · 14/11/2019 22:00

@miffy2 your collection of Christmas presents sounds lovely.
I have my eye on a coloured glass decanter with matching whiskey tumblers from Oliver Bonas as well so dropping some major hints to DH.

Hello All and Thank You Ella for the new thread! Sorry I’ve been quiet but blame it on the lovely Spanish sunshine I’m enjoying as I write this 😎 your new MV boots are bloody marvellous and so is that starry dress you linked to. Which is very witchy indeed! Halloween Smile I’m wearing my witchy Jasmin dress with tights and biker boots this eve to my cousins music venue in Alicante. Looking forward to it!

miffy Love your Xmas wish list

Laska fab sparkly Tu leggings, maybe there’ll be some stock left by the time I return to GB and if yes I’d grab a pair.

No fashion news (yet) trying very very hard to ignore Spanish shoe shops but I know it won’t last...

Have a wonderful stylish weekend Hush friends and Talisin we need to see your velvet purchases! Please link Envy

So here’s a question for the group: how would you feel if your GP was wearing sparkly leggings? I’m not sure that this particular group is representative of the population as a whole......

Huffthepuff · 15/11/2019 15:34

Hi all! Fell off the last thread so just checking in 👋
Love love love those boots Ella 😍

SoyYo · 15/11/2019 15:59

Taybert I'd be delighted to see a GP with sparkly leggings 😍
I’ve just finished some hospital treatment and my consultant was such a lovely girl but dressed very conservatively and I kept thinking she could really do with a fashion makeover, I mean she dressed as if she was in her 80’s but couldn’t have been 50 yo yet.
It may make you more approachable to the younger generations too.

miffy2 · 15/11/2019 16:35

@Laska yes, ND are on Etsy, a UK based company. I have seen their bags on one of my fave instagrammer's feed and promised myself one for months. Unfortunately I spent all my birthday money on other things...so it fell to Christmas. They are handmade and so I ordered one and have received it already, it is hidden away until Christmas though.

Laska2Meryls · 15/11/2019 16:51

Well Jealous of Spanish sunshine !

I received a lovely bottle green Whistles cashmere jumper I ordered in their 30% discount deal today but its gone straight back as huge! Its gorgeous though so have reorderd smaller one , also a warehouse green animal print jumper ..

Sooverthemill · 15/11/2019 17:51

@Ellapaella have you seen this dress]. It's a hush but exclusive to John lewis

neveradullmoment99 · 15/11/2019 19:02

My mums consultant was very eccentric and wore everything with fluro sports trainers. She looked very eccentric!

neveradullmoment99 · 15/11/2019 19:02

Not a big deal imo.

Ellapaella · 15/11/2019 19:10

@taybert wouldn't bother me at all. I don't really care what my GP wears as long as he or she has clean hands and fingernails 😉
You'd rock the glittery leggings.

@Sooverthemill I like that dress! I looked at the Wallis one yesterday but wasn't keen, it didn't look so nice in real life.

@SoyYo happy holidays my dear! 😎☀️ make the most of that warm weather because it's baltic here ❄️

taybert, my wonderful GP has just retired, but over the 25 years I’ve known her, she had a different colour hair almost weekly, and a vast selection of eclectic clothing, and wild goth type make up and jewellery. And she was the nicest, kindest, most thorough doctor I have ever met - and if you wanted to see her, specifically, you had to book 6-8 weeks in advance, she was so popular. So clearly no one was put off by her dress code (which personally, I loved)

justilou1 · 15/11/2019 20:46

I won a voucher in a raffle at my daughter’s school to use at my hair salon. As I don’t dye my hair, and only get it cut about twice a year, it would have taken forever to use it up. They happened to have the new GHD straightening brushes, so Santa is giving me that for Christmas. (Haven’t used it yet, but hairdresser demo’ed it and it looks life-changingly idiot-proof for people like me who have better things to do than hair - and won’t kill what is left of my fine hair, either.)

taybert · 15/11/2019 20:54

I’m afraid I’ve got a bit of a boring capsule wardrobe for work, it just makes it easier when trying to juggle everything that I can grab a skirt/top/trousers combo and it’ll be ok. Obviously I’m always bare below elbows Ella Wink Maybe sparkly leggings could be part of the capsule!

Talisin · 15/11/2019 21:20

taybert well as an owner of sparkly leggings myself, i’d probably enquire as to whether they were from Hush or Sainsburys 😆 On a slightly more helpful note, a GP in leggings - sparkly or otherwise - would not bother me in the slightest, I’d just think they were practical and comfortable. And festive at this time of year.

OK, so in answer to Laska and Soy, the entire haul was indeed TU. Black Sparkle Leggings more tregging than legging really as they’re quite thick and don’t cling at the ankles. Roll Neck Jumper absolutely the softest cosiest jumper ever, completely synthetic but that doesn’t bother me. It says navy but it really looks more grey than anything and it’s beautifully oversize without having masses of excess material round my thighs. Midnight Velvet Jacket very short silky pile type velvet, looks more like satin, also looks a lot more expensive than it is. Comes up slightly on the larger size, those lucky narrowed shouldered, small boobed persons should go down a size. Midnight Velvet Trousers these on the other hand come up slightly small, also have a short zip which means they need quite a bit of wiggling to get over ones arse. Once on, a very good fit on an apple like me but probably not a good idea for a pear or hourglass shape.

I’m afraid the photos of me in said clothing really aren’t great for detail as it’s all so dark and my only available full length mirror has an unhelpful directional light source for taking selfies.

Love it all @Talisin you look lovely. Especially love the velvet jacket.

Has anyone ever bought hair clips from Hush? I'm eyeing up This one - again for party season.

Love it all @TalisinSmile
You look amazing. Can I ask what size you bought in the trousers?

Talisin · 15/11/2019 22:37

@GinandGingerBeer I got them in a 12.

justilou1 · 15/11/2019 23:38

You look Fab, @Talisin!!!
I think I would be MORE inclined to visit a GP with sparkly legs, btw... one with a sense of humour/humanity who seems more approachable or less dry is always a good thing. (Especially a female one. I find the wall they put up sometimes makes them even harder to deal with than men sometimes!)

GinandGingerBeer · 15/11/2019 23:48

Thank you @Talisin Much appreciated!
I have never managed to find a flattering pair and you look great in yours.

taybert · 16/11/2019 07:36

Oo, now then, that velvet jacket/trousers combo is lovely, I’m wondering if the addition of a slinky top, heels and sparkles might make that a good Christmas do outfit. I feel a Tu haul coming on!

I think it can be hard as a female doctor (or probably any female professional) to know how to present yourself at times. As a doctor you want to look approachable but reassuringly competent. It’s unfortunate that some people seem to think that if you care about your appearance you can’t possibly have a brain in your head. I’m only in my mid 30s but even when I was at medical school and first qualified doing hospital jobs, sexism and humiliation of junior doctors was pretty common, you’d sometimes get shouted at in front of a ward round just for being a woman (or a girl as you’d inevitably be called) and I know this was much worse in the past. As a result I think women doctors used to either keep their heads down or just be one of the boys. I think that fear of not being taken seriously still exists for lots of women in all areas really. There are loads of female doctors now though so I’d hope it’s changing. I might just get the leggings as a symbol of smashing the patriarchy. There you go, I’ve justified it!
