The dress I think will go OOS. So it I really like it may keep just that.

EachandEveryone · 20/11/2019 14:41

I had abit of money to spend today on something for Rufus Wainwright next month and ended up buying an electric blanket 😮 so now i better get myself to Sainsburys and buy something cheap and sparkly.

twosoups1972 · 20/11/2019 15:33

It's been quiet on here! Hello lovely Hush friends and nice to hear from you @Ninkanink

@neveradullmoment99 I like the Toast dress, looking forward to seeing a picture!

Agree that Toast knitwear is indeed lovely! I'm loving my first foray into Toast - blue Mariners jumper. Slightly itchy but I can live with that.

I've had my eye on a v-neck tunic from Woolovers but seem to have missed the 25% off. I've tried various other discount codes but they don't work. Anyone know of a valid one?

Sooverthemill · 20/11/2019 17:25

VCN19 should give 20%

Laska2Meryls · 21/11/2019 07:40

Talisin thanks for the recommendation of the Tu glitter thermal top.. its fab!!
( Just the thing a Doctor could wear also Taybert ( I hope you bought those sparkly leggings. I am going to wear mine today , !) Im retiring week so am ramping up the work outfits more! ( Although today I am going Christmas shopping .. , but may fall into s clothes shop or two )

Laska2Meryls · 21/11/2019 07:43

Next week retiring.. ( just a few years early will be 62 soon) but... a bit scary , I have worked pretty much f/t since I was 17 ..

Sooverthemill · 21/11/2019 09:50

@Laska2Meryls I'm about the same age and have worked since age 15 ( weekends and holidays) and when I had to give up work to care for DD it was such a strange feeling. I miss work so much

Sooverthemill · 21/11/2019 10:58

My Boden Cora jumper arrived to day and I love it. Slightly miffed that I'd bought it today it would be just under £2 cheaper but I can't be arsed to reorder and return for that. They have them on brand alley for £49 but not all sizes in all colours and not delivered until 10-13 December. Trying to decide if I should order the brown... I think not. I reckon the sale may make it cheaper and brand alley is a pita to return

Ninkanink · 21/11/2019 12:43

@Ellapaella, @twosoups1972, @dontcallmelen, thanks for the welcome back!

I love Ella’s boots, the TU haul, Toast dress is lovely, and also Laska’s impending retirement! 👍

I’m no longer buying from M&S and JL 😔 which is quite problematic for me as they’re my two go-to shops in town, but principles matter and on the other hand it’s great because it’s forcing me to look at other places and also helping me to think even more carefully about prospective purchases.

Black Friday: I’m looking at a few things from Barbour and/or Baukjen. Would like a nice coat, too, as my warm coats don’t fit me just now (one size down) and I’m not sure I can be arsed to slim down into them for January and colder weather.

Whilst I was having my MN break I tried a gel manicure/pedicure for the first time and omg I love it. I had stopped wearing nail varnish altogether for the past two years as I couldn’t be bothered with the faff of keeping it presentable for work, plus I wanted to be less perfectionist about things in general, but this autumn I’ve really wanted some colour on my nails to set off my autumn outfits. Two whole weeks of great, glossy colour which stayed absolutely pristine with no hassle at all! 👍👍 I had a nice dark red the first time and now I’ve got burgundy, and next I think I’ll have a really dark blue.

As usual I’m lusting after lots of jumpers, hats/scarves/gloves and boots but for now I’ll resist because I already have loads of accessories and footwear and I only need a few jumpers. The only thing I really need in terms of footwear is a flat boot, either Chelsea or similar, as a lot of my boots have quite high heels and I just don’t want to wear them that much anymore.

bumpingalongnicely · 21/11/2019 13:36

Is there a hush code around please hushitas?

neveradullmoment99 · 21/11/2019 14:05

I don't have a code. I don't think there is any code atm. Hoping for something for black Friday.

Laska2Meryls · 22/11/2019 06:51

Also hoping for Toast and Mint Velvet BF deals , Jigsaw have theirs up now

Sooverthemill · 22/11/2019 07:54

@Ellapaella saw this and thought of you! T'woukd go rather nicely with a new leather jacket. They have some lovely dresses. No idea of quality and £££

Sooverthemill · 22/11/2019 07:57

@Ninkanink welcome back, I think I know who you are and used to see you on the royal thread.

Can I ask why on principle no JL and M&S? I'm quite careful about buying clothes from retailers ( have always tried to be ethical, I think it used to be easier). Have I missed something?
For some reason this winter I am also wanting knitwear, now that I am just home and always cold I want nice stuff that warms my heart as well as my body. When I went to osteopath yesterday I found a pair of cashmere gloves in coat pocket ( from at least 2 years ago) and they were so cosy and non itchy maybe I should look for ethical cashmere?

Sooverthemill · 22/11/2019 07:58

@bumpingalongnicely no code. You may be able to get a refer me if you haven't bought before. But they are wanting full price! Free delivery with SPEEDY is the only thing.

neveradullmoment99 · 22/11/2019 09:25

Its rubbish for those who are hush friends already. I think they are being quite tight over discounts this year.
It wouldn't surprise me if they did nothing for black friday. I don't think they did last year.

Ninkanink · 22/11/2019 09:42

Hi @Sooverthemill Yes I did used to be on the royal threads but I recently was quite rude to someone there with absolutely no good reason (which I did apologise for) so I have given it a break to allow that person to feel happier posting there. I wasn’t in a good place but that was out of order and it’s one of the reasons I had a detox from MN - Sometimes I become overwhelmed with the (very important) issues we discuss and shine a light on here and it all becomes a bit much. I miss it and I am lurking on the thread but I don’t feel I should show my face just yet...

About M&S/JL - I really don’t want to politicise this discussion but there are some very good threads on the subject on the Feminist boards here. Very important issues regarding women’s and children’s rights and protections (and overarching principles which affect everyone, male or female) which I personally cannot condone and won’t support with my money. It’s not easy though as I live five minutes away from a big M&S and I really do like a lot of their products/fashion (and I really like their jeans/jeggings which I need for winter!) and JL is just so good for quite a wide range of brands, but sometimes you have to take a stand.

Anyway, back to fashion and the lighter things in life! 🌷

I’ve seen so many things I’d love to have, however it’s much easier for me these days to just put it out of my mind and I don’t become obsessive like I used to which is so nice. I’m getting much better at having a look through my wardrobe to find similar things I’ve already got, as well.

I’m waiting patiently for the beginning of December when I can break out the bailey’s and have a glass every evening - I can take it or leave during the rest of the year but at Christmas I do like a little bit every day. Peace and goodwill, and a nice warm glow.

I’m craving jewellery at the moment! Would have gone for something from missoma/Monica vinader, but don’t want to pay that much for what is essentially just costume jewellery, but the pieces I really want from brands like Georg Jensen are so expensive. Sigh. I did buy some reasonably priced pieces from Jigsaw, a ring and necklace.

Ninkanink · 22/11/2019 09:45

Oh also yes, I think cashmere is well worth it, so comfy and soft, and if it’s ethical even better! I don’t buy much (usually one-two pieces a year, if that), but buying secondhand is a great way of being ethical, or straight from small U.K. factories/establishments.

Ellapaella · 22/11/2019 12:22

@Sooverthemill I love that dress!

OP posts:
twosoups1972 · 22/11/2019 12:26

@neveradullmoment99 I agree re lack of discounts, think they are shooting themselves in the foot. All their competitors regularly offer at least 15% discount.

Sooverthemill · 22/11/2019 12:30

@Ellapaella I saw it and thought of you!

Abraid2 · 22/11/2019 12:38

Taybert I don't often post here but I wanted to say that my 81-year-old mother has myeloma and all her consultants at two hospitals have been women. She LOVES it when they have made an effort with their clothes or accessories and always talks to them about it. We have discussed dresses, skirts, handbags and shoes at appointments (briefly). It really does help humanise a pretty horrible situation at times.

Ellapaella · 22/11/2019 18:03

@Ellapaella scary isn't it? Today I've been Xmas shooing ( online) and the internet should have picked up a. Dry unlikely view of what I like as it was for a 60 YO DH, a 24 YP DS and a 26 YO BF of DD1! So I'm expecting ads for beard products, rugby and pub games from now on!

Londonborncatty · 22/11/2019 21:16

Hello, I’m new here and have a full basket at Hush. I don’t suppose anyone has a code? Hope you don’t mind me asking.
