In light of the several upcoming engagements for W&K while H&M allegedly take a 6 week break!

I don't think Rainier was that much older, was he?

Rainier was only six years older than Grace, and he was seen as a dashing playboy when he was living at Cap Ferrat with French film star Gisèle Pascal, so perhaps Grace didn't expect to be bored! Wink Wink

tinyteece01 · 12/11/2019 19:03

William is looking very handsome these days. His suits fit him well. I also like suede shoes. It adds a touch of individuality to his look. Nice.

tinyteece01 · 12/11/2019 19:03

Kate does always look engaged. She’s a trouper.

Disfordarkchocolate · 12/11/2019 19:10

Kate does especially well with children, she shines when she interacts with them. Meghan has mastered 'not looking bored, looking like you are a superstar '. Both assets to the royal family.

QueenOfTheAndals · 12/11/2019 19:22

I don't find William particularly handsome but he was wearing a decent suit today. Who is it that does Charles' suits? I've read that his shoes are by Lobb and I assume he has a tailor on Savile Row.

I think Grace's parents were ' social climbers' so a marriage to a RC head of state would have suited them.

SirSidneyRuffDiamond · 12/11/2019 19:38

I read somewhere that Grace Kelly's family was very wealthy and had to agree to pay a substantial dowry ($2million??) before the marriage could go ahead!

hopeishere · 12/11/2019 19:42

For people saying her outfit doesn't match - what do it mean? I think all prices compliment each other. What would matching look like?

AliasGrape · 12/11/2019 19:52

Just dropping in with this article I found with some lovely pictures of HM and PP

I think items from the same colour palette ,the grey and white go together I think .But not with the trouser colour .

IMHO

AdaColeman · 12/11/2019 20:04

I think it would have looked better with a dark grey jumper, rather than the white one Kate wore. That would have changed it from a nice collection of separates, into a more pulled together outfit.

paradyning · 12/11/2019 20:05

@hopeishere I think for me it down to tones. The trousers are a warm tone and the jacket a cool grey. So it looks to clash to my eye.

Gooseysgirl · 12/11/2019 20:13

Good to see KM in trousers again, I'm not sure about the jacket... it fits beautifully but I'm wondering if a trouser suit would have been better. She always seems to wear trousers and jacket rather than trouser suit IYSWIM

frugalkitty · 12/11/2019 20:13

Grace had a bit of a daddy complex going on, she'd had a number of flings with much older men (Hollywood knew, the public didn't). Mr Kelly was all about his son, Grace was the child who he never thought would amount to much. Off the top of my head, Monaco was in financial trouble (a shady place for shady people) so Rainer needed a high profile wife, and yes, there was some wrangling over the dowry. Without a legitimate heir, Monaco reverts to French control.

hopeishere · 12/11/2019 20:24

See to me, the contrast between them all is what makes it work!

StCharlotte · 12/11/2019 20:25

Love that picture of Estelle and Oscar - why can't our Royal children wear "normal" clothes?

Also in that post (I think) was a picture of Kate that stopped me in my tracks - I swear she looked about 60. Fortunately in the next few she was back to her lovely young self but that one gave me quite a turn for a moment!

DevonUkelele · 12/11/2019 20:34

I'm in the "loving Kate's outfit" camp today. The pants are ace - and at least they fit and aren't draping all over her ankles.

The cut on that jacket is perfect! As was her Remembrance Day coat - perhaps she has a new tailor herself 🤔.

Agree re Wills' shoes - he wears them a lot and they are awful.Especially in that "doesn't quite go with anything" shade of brown.

I'm with PPs - generally the Wales boys seem a bit shabby, unless they're in uniform. Standing next to their glamorous and finely turned out wives only highlights it.

thisenglishlife · 12/11/2019 20:35

Was it this one @StCharlotte ?

I think it was just bad light, but it was shocking for a split second!

I hasten to add, she is amazing looking generally and I liked her outfit today.

BertrandRussell · 12/11/2019 21:26

“ Kate does especially well with children, she shines when she interacts with them. Meghan has mastered 'not looking bored, looking like you are a superstar '
So Kate interacts and shines. Meghan has learned how not to look bored. Riiiiiiiiiight.

QueenOfTheAndals · 12/11/2019 21:28

I thought Meghan did great at the Together and Smartworks launches. She always seems enthusiastic and engaged.

QueenOfTheAndals · 12/11/2019 21:33

Poor Kate, I think she can occasionally look a tad hard, plus that's a terrible photo. She looks like a villain from a daytime soap opera!

Posh frocks and tiaras for the Swedish Royals at a dinner tonight at the Royal Palace in Stockholm. KCG, QS, CPV, PD, PCP and PS all in attendance.

I like CPV's (champagne? oyster?) dress
