I've never understood why Grace married Rainier. Hadn't they only met a couple of times before she set sail from America to the wedding where she looked both exquisite and wretched. Ok she got to be a princess, but only a Serene Highness not a Royal Highness. Monaco is just a tiny dot of a place and it didn't have any glamour until Grace worked her magic on it. Why would she give up an Oscar winning film career?
I read somewhere that not long before Grace quit, the studio moved her call time forward by an hour, i.e. they thought she was ageing and needed to spend an hour longer in make-up every day. That surprised me as she was still so young but stardom could be very short-lived in that era and once women's looks were perceived to be past their peak, so were their careers.
So, maybe Grace quit while she was ahead. I suspect she thought being a princess would be more fun than it actually turned out to be, and she might not have understood the European royal pecking order.

Yesterday I was queuing in Pret behind several other women with tan totes and thought we looked like a row of Meghans! I was wearing tan gloves too.
