In light of the several upcoming engagements for W&K while H&M allegedly take a 6 week break!

I love the dress Kate is wearing and think she looks amazing, BUT, yes she really would look better with hair a few inches shorter I think. I never saw it before joining this thread, but not I can't unsee it!

BlingLoving · 18/11/2019 20:54

Dont like hair at all. As always, CUT IT.

I couldn't work out what I wasnt loving about the dress until I saw the pictures of the queen- it's just not glamorous enough. It needs some bling in form of jewellery or other accessories (yes, based on my name you can assume I am biased Grin ). Neclace, fancy shawl, glam hairstyle with some bling g wound through. Something. Preferably something a bit different- either old and extravagant or extremely modern.

megletthesecond · 18/11/2019 20:58

I think she's got extensions in. I was browsing the Hersheshons products after they were mentioned upthread and they do clip ins.

para yes, I like a McQueen shoulder too.

bohemia14 · 18/11/2019 21:06

I don't like Kate's dress at all, sorry. I hate the white underneath.

frugalkitty · 18/11/2019 21:07

I don't like it either, wrong colour underneath. Definitely needs a necklace!

AppleKatie · 18/11/2019 21:12

i'm a dissenter tonight I like her dress.

VeniceBeach · 18/11/2019 21:21

How did Alexander McQueen go from being an edgy and subversive brand to dressing the Duchess of Cambridge in coat dresses and lace gowns?

Lunde · 18/11/2019 21:23

I like her dress . but I think that big necklines need some sort of necklace (I said the same about Meghan's prom-style dress and the Remembrance festival last week). Some diamonds, pearls or even bright gems would be fab

BeatriceTheBeast · 18/11/2019 21:26

It would benefit from some bling tbf.

thisenglishlife · 18/11/2019 21:28

I think you're right that it's Lovelace @lunde Phew!

The attached photo has nothing to do with anything, but it did make me chuckle.

RosinaAlmaviva · 18/11/2019 21:39

You're all right about the bling.

I like the dress but I think I'd prefer it with a wider belt or even Empire line (although no doubt that would start pregnancy rumours).

Hair and make-up - gorgeous. I did prefer Kate's hair when it was a few inches shorter, but she obviously didn't as she grew it again!

QueenOfTheAndals · 18/11/2019 21:43

I've wondered the same @VeniceBeach. He was such a visionary but his label is now most famous for pastel coat dresses!

I think big necklines either need bling or breasts.

AdaColeman · 18/11/2019 22:43

I'm not keen on the lace dress, but it might have looked better with a colour underlay, perhaps a blue. The neckline needs something to give it a bit of a lift, a pearl choker perhaps.
I like the velvet banding, and the swirling cut of the skirt, but for the occasion it doesn't seem much of a glamorous statement, maybe with her hair pinned up it would have looked better.

justasking111 · 18/11/2019 22:43

I do not like the earrings, would prefer diamonds at ears and around neck. I think they are too scared of being criticised for wearing expensive jewels in our prissy times. For heavens sake we know they have them so enjoy them.

FATEdestiny · 18/11/2019 23:11

I find myself wondering what kind of knickers she's wearing...?

I'd be in massive, cant breath spanx granny pants with a gown.

I wonder if she wears thongs?
Or tanga?
Or simple minis

She defo doesn't need spanx

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 18/11/2019 23:14

I really wish she would work on her posture, and I’m sorry but I think this shot looks like she is naked underneath the lace.

Fozzleyplum · 18/11/2019 23:19

That dress would have been better with a dark red lining, I think. I think Kate's posture is fine.

ColonelCathcart · 18/11/2019 23:37

I really dislike the dress, it looks cheap. I know people go on about her weight, but if she wasn’t slim with groomed hair and makeup etc it would show up her clothes choices a lot more often.

pallisers · 18/11/2019 23:38

I often want DOC to put her shoulders back so kind of agree about the posture.

I'd love to see her with her hair cut to just above her shoulders - like skimming them. I think it would be stunning and the lovely necklines, necklaces and broaches she sometimes wears would be more visible. She could always grow it again like the queen of spain did.

As a non-UK person I'm bemused by the pressure on the Queen's grown grandchildren and their small children to spend Christmas with her. like it is some sort of transgression not to. Is this the norm in the UK? Would the queen even want it?

I also wish they'd wear the bling. Everyone knows they have it - there must be trays and safes full of beautiful jewellery that is never worn. Wish they'd just put it on and let the public see it.

Wildorchidz · 18/11/2019 23:52

Does Kate ever wear rings?

Rhubarbisevil · 19/11/2019 06:54

I love the dress. She doesn’t look nakedness otherwise her body would be the same colour as her arms.

Austerity Times. Don’t show off the jewels. Or maybe HMQ has flogged them all to it Andy’s blackmailers.

QueenOfTheAndals · 19/11/2019 07:38

We all know the RF have got the jewels and it's not like they're brand new - they've been in the family for years! A dress she'd worn before with some serious rocks would've been more of a bargain Grin

I'm not sure that Kate's a big jewellery wearer apart from earrings and her engagement ring but if you can't bling it up for the RVP then when can you??

OP posts:
WineOrGinOrBoth · 19/11/2019 07:45

I loved that dress. Mind you I’d have been spanxed up so much I wouldn’t have been able to breathe.

latedecember1963 · 19/11/2019 07:55

I don't think Kate is a big wearer of jewellery either, Queen. In photos from before she was married she occasionally had on a Lola Rose type necklace or pendant but that was about it.
She tends to keep her nails very understated too, even on glitzy evening engagements.
