I think Camilla looks greatz. Actually I always like her choices.

She does have a bit of a "Im going to a wedding vibe going on, but its a look that works on her"

Encyclo · 17/11/2019 15:53

Apostrophe weirdness there

derxa · 17/11/2019 16:50

A propos of nothing I've just started watching The Crown. There's so much wrong about it. The actress playing Princess Margaret is not pretty enough and the accent? Grrrrr

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 17/11/2019 17:06

Are you talking about Vanessa Kirby as the young Margaret?
I thought she gave her a lot of sass.
What time does series 3 start tonight?

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 17/11/2019 17:08

Ok, series 3 is on Netflix now. All 10 episodes!

derxa · 17/11/2019 17:09

I'm on Season 1 Curly

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 17/11/2019 17:10

The Crown season 3 Thread

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 17/11/2019 17:11

You’ll love it @derxa and will be really proud of yourself when you recognise frocks and jewellry from this thread! ( or is that just me?!)

derxa · 17/11/2019 17:11

I'll pop over

StCharlotte · 17/11/2019 17:34

I know I'm asking for the moon but can we keep The Crown chat to the other thread(s)? I have no opportunity to see any of it this side of December dammit Grin

IfWishesWereFishes · 17/11/2019 17:34

Camillia is a game old girl? Hmm Didn't she just have a holiday on the way to this trip?

We're far too admiring of someone being able to board a plane! It's not like she had to pack her stuff, empty the fridge, cancel the papers, take the cat to the cattery, and try to clear her inbox before putting her out of office on. And when she comes back she'll slot into her life with the exact same amount of effort it took her to leave it.

BertrandRussell · 17/11/2019 18:08

Yes- I do find the my word, they’re actually able to board a plane at their advanced age a bit Hmm

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 17/11/2019 18:26

@StCharlotte

I’ve posted the link for the Crown chat upthread

hopeishere · 17/11/2019 18:43

It's not just about boarding a plane. It's not like they're going to spend two weeks on the beach. Being "on" and engaged and polite and interested all the time is tiring! I know I'd be a bag of weasels by the end of it!

BertrandRussell · 17/11/2019 19:29

“Being "on" and engaged and polite and interested all the time is tiring!”

Roughly how many hours a day do you think they’re “on”?

Wetdogloveshubert · 17/11/2019 20:17

Enough to find it tiring. Part of my job involves being client- and public-facing, and when I have to do it lots I find it challenging. It's all too easy for us to downplay the hard parts of their jobs, and play up the silver linings. Where did our empathy go to die?

QueenOfTheAndals · 17/11/2019 21:01

Harry's at some awards for a youth charity he's involved in tonight. So the 6 week break may have been just a rumour after all.

SenecaFalls · 17/11/2019 21:04

Speaking as an introvert, I am empathetic. I'm still working at my advanced age; the days spent having to interact with people and be engaging and making small talk exhaust me most. But it has always been that way with me.

QueenOfTheAndals · 17/11/2019 21:07

The Japanese royals have attended a thanksgiving ceremony and, as usual, the women look like extras from an EM Forster adaptation. Any idea why the Emperor's daughter never attends these things? She must be about 18 by now so it's not like she's a young child.

My job sometimes involves being 'on' where I am seen as a representative of my work organization and my attendance has represented a lot of work. When I go home, no matter how well the day went, I need to recharge and reset my ability to smile politely. Generally I feel mentally and physically very tired and need a quiet day afterwards.

megletthesecond · 17/11/2019 21:31

I love the phrase 'bag of weasels' . Going to start using that.

Rhubarbisevil · 17/11/2019 21:35

Has he got a smile on the other side of his face?

IfWishesWereFishes · 17/11/2019 21:59

It's not about empathy; it's about us fawning over a royal who famously does as little as possible, for doing just what's required of her. It's more about sycophancy than empathy.

IfWishesWereFishes · 17/11/2019 22:00

I imagine a bag of weasels to be quite jolly Grin

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 17/11/2019 22:11

Today’s Harry’s last engagement before their break.
