In light of the several upcoming engagements for W&K while H&M allegedly take a 6 week break!

I’ll believe the homeless shelter when I see it. Can you imagine what the press would make of that!

BeatriceTheBeast · 14/11/2019 13:13

Oh love that red dress^^!

I also think the pink organza would be beautiful if the straps underneath were a bit more delicate.

ajandjjmum · 14/11/2019 13:38

Personally I think the homeless shelter is a bit too 'try hard'. If you're going to do it, quietly go and do it. Assuming it has been announced rather than being other gossip from 'a source'?

AdaColeman · 14/11/2019 13:46

Not keen on Leti's pink organza, it's a bit too much of a "coy school girl" look.

latedecember1963 · 14/11/2019 13:58

Perhaps I need to get my DH to read Shamen Derek's adoring messages about Martha Louise. Then again, he'd probably say that words are easy, it's deeds that count. 😂😂

What would they make of it?

queenofarles · 14/11/2019 14:31

But why issue a statement and then say something else later? She has every right to spend thanksgiving with her mum.She is an American and it’s a big holiday over there, no need to make herself look like a selfless martyr.
That’s a poor PR move IMO.

ElspethFlashman · 14/11/2019 14:44

It says they're "considering" it.

Which is a bizarre thing to have publicly reported. Is it a leak from their PR? Testing the waters for the idea? Wierd!

banivani · 14/11/2019 15:02

"plant your last potato" is a genuine Swedish expression. As in a last chance thing. Grin

I think Harry and William volunteered at a soup kitchen, possibly one Christmas, didn’t they?

QueenOfTheAndals · 14/11/2019 15:23

The Mail says they're "considering" it but who knows how true that is? Yesterday they were claiming that they'd be going to Ibiza for Christmas!

Adding to silly Swedish sayings (I know this one from a friend) - ‘slip on a prawn sandwich’ = being lucky

BlingLoving · 14/11/2019 15:33

I can easily see meghan and her mum going to a soup kitchen. It's a very american thing. But not with a pre-announcement. So either a leak, or made up.

I feel like I need to scrub my eyes as caught sight of a paper copy of daily mail in tesco this afternoon - huge banner headline asking what the queen did to deserve being snubbed at christmas. what really really frightens me is that people actually think this shit? ThatMeghan and Harry must spend every Christmas with her no matter what? Only in weird families (the ones we see desperate posters on here asking about) is that actually a thing. In normal families, there's give and take and changes all the time.

I like the pink on leti and the straps don't bother me at all - I think it looks nice.

BlingLoving · 14/11/2019 15:34

Would be great if this was a year kate and meghan went to her parents. They haven't done that for a while have they? Although I think the middletons come to norfolk with them.

BlingLoving · 14/11/2019 15:35

haha. Kate and william!

QueenOfTheAndals · 14/11/2019 15:44

It's so ridiculous @BlingLoving and I can't believe people fall for it. The statement the Palace released said H&M have the full support of the Queen and other members of the RF but I guess that doesn't sell newspapers...

OP posts:
FiveTwoFaster · 14/11/2019 15:48

I can’t understand why the papers can’t get their head around alternate Christmases? Meghan has had 2 in a row with Harry’s family, it’s “her turn”.

And also - when I saw Harry’s saying on that documentary that he and PW were on different paths and good days and bad days, it wasn’t til I saw the furore it caused I thought much of it. They ARE on different paths; one will be king, the other a well paid charity worker with children who have a very different life to their cousins. And siblings do have good and bad days! I had no idea that they were such strong words. I more heard “he’ll always be there for me and I’ll always be there for him” and I thought “nice” and nothing more.

BlingLoving · 14/11/2019 15:52

I think what annoys me the most about all this is this fake revere for the queen thing. It's like they like to pretend she's this holy creature blessed by the divine. But surely in real life no one thinks that any more? And if they did, they'd feel the same way about her children and grandchildren. It's so ridiculous.

And while an opinion piece on this is not the blatant lies that Meghan and Harry are trying to fight, it's not far off is it? Not least because half the people who read it will genuinely believe the queen is pissed.

ajandjjmum · 14/11/2019 15:56

It's like the people who watch The Crown, and think it's all fact.

ElspethFlashman · 14/11/2019 16:04

In fairness there was quite a bit of frothing the first year K+W didn't go. Its par for the course.

You know who's got it made? Mike Tindall. Nobody knows where he's going to spend Christmas and nobody gives a shit. They get to live rent free in her Mums estate and yet get to take on loads of lucrative sponsorships (Rolex FFS!) and just shrug and say "we're private individuals".

Got it made, I tell you!

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 14/11/2019 16:11

I think it’s been said in the past that the title cousins are envious of Zara & Peter’s setups. Zara makes at least £1million a year from sponsorship.
Anne was very shrewd refusing titles for her kids.

frostyfingers · 14/11/2019 16:14

Maybe the Queen is praying for a nice quiet Christmas with just her and Philip and none of the pesky relatives.....

QueenOfTheAndals · 14/11/2019 16:14

I'm sure Beatrice and Eugenie could relinquish their titles if they really wanted to. If they aren't going to be "working royals" then what's the point? But I suspect Mrs Mapelli-Mozzi or Mrs Brooksbank wouldn't open as many doors as HRH Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie of York!

The tabloids always love something to froth about - especially about a woman who marries into the Royal Family. Back in the day it was all about Kate/Carole being social climbers and making William "middle class" and "breaking tradition" by spending Christmas at the Middleton's home. Such misogyny!

Judging by the traditional Christmas itinerary I bet that William and Kate are quite glad that they have a house nearby so they can drop in and out and not staying at Sandringham with 3 lively children. It must be really tricky with young children, very elderly relatives and a very formal Christmas

BertrandRussell · 14/11/2019 17:06

“ It must be really tricky with young children, very elderly relatives and a very formal Christmas”

I expect the staff make a little bit easier.
