In light of the several upcoming engagements for W&K while H&M allegedly take a 6 week break!

Ok well I got that completely wrong having now read the captions. Time to hang up the deerstalker...

QueenOfTheAndals · 13/11/2019 22:02

Is it a whole velvet suit he's wearing or is it just the jacket?

OP posts:
justasking111 · 13/11/2019 22:03

Just the jacket, normal evening trousers with black shoes.

QueenOfTheAndals · 13/11/2019 22:05

I wonder if Lady Louise gets to eat with the adults this Christmas now that she's 16? Can't be much fun eating in the nursery at her age, especially since all the other children are much younger.

Ooh who knows what this will lead to - he might wear a red velvet at Christmas a la Santa. I quite like the green velvet but if my dh wore similar he would look like an eccentric Dr Who figure.

Disfordarkchocolate · 13/11/2019 22:25

I like the green velvet jacket but I would have preferred the equivalent blue.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 13/11/2019 22:37

Princes of Wales in the past have always had a quirky dress sense; Edwards VII and VIII and Prince Charles. I like to think that Prince William is gearing up to make more interesting sartorial choices.
He’s travelling to Kuwait and Oman in December. I’d like to see him in the white robes and dish dash ( not sure of the exact name of the head covering.)
It will be very Lawrence of Arabia.

AdaColeman · 13/11/2019 22:43

I wasn't keen on Pippa's Teletubbies outfit, and I often like her style.

frugalkitty · 13/11/2019 22:58

Dammit, my cover is blown! I shall just have to hide in the airing cupboard with you-know-who until it's all blown over Grin

Now then, one of the princesses having an airing cupboard fling with one of the princes would be good gossip wouldn't it....across Europe they're all much of a similar age so not entirely impossible.....

GeoffreyAndBungle · 13/11/2019 23:07

Love the green velvet jacket!

WineOrGinOrBoth · 13/11/2019 23:20

Liking the Green velvet.

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 13/11/2019 23:21

I wonder what will happen when the Queen dies?, will Charles carry the Sandringham Christmas tradition on or will everyone decide its time they all did their own thing? And thinking even further ahead, even If Charles keeps it going I can’t see William continuing with such formality when he is King.

frugal I'm sure it's been done, is being done or is thought about being done but probably in a much bigger cupboard.

“ And in the real world people go and visit their in laws and grin and bear it.”
Exactly what Harry is doing.

I think it might continue with Charles. But then again Anne has 4 grandchildren so maybe she will switch to Christmases at Gatcombe Park. I have no idea where Zara and Peter even live.

The wessexes will probably continue at Sandringham for a fair bit longer, as their children are still relatively young and they are very dutiful to the crown.

Andrew, who knows. I don’t think he and Charles get in that well. ( thinking back to the jubilee and Andrew on the second boat)

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 14/11/2019 01:13

The problem I think Charles will face if he tries to carry on the tradition, is I just don’t think he will command the same respect as the Queen, I think it will be easier for people to say no, particularly if he carries out his idea of a slimmed down monarchy, they may think it’s all a bit pointless if they are not really classed as royalty anymore and they may as well just do their own thing. I do think Charles may rue the day on his slimmed down monarchy idea (and it could be verging on skinny if Meghan and Harry move abroad), in a way I think it could be the beginning of the end and it could force him to rethink Beatrice and Eugenie’s position as working royals. I don’t see the big family gatherings continuing at Balmoral either.......it will be interesting times.

PinkSun9 · 14/11/2019 01:33

@BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo,

That's what I said in the previous thread re. the slimmed down Monarchy. If H&M decide to devote their time to their global interests, only Charles,William and Kate will be left to shoulder the royal responsibility. Camilla is not well. Beatrice and Eugenie may not be available now, they probably will start having their own families.

PinkSun9 · 14/11/2019 01:37

Beatrice and Eugenie, even if offered the chance by PC or PW to be more involved, might not now want to take it up. Beatrice will be married to a very rich guy and not need any handouts from the RF. Same with Eugenie.

SenecaFalls · 14/11/2019 02:00

But isn't the slimmed-down monarchy essentially what the UK public want? I thought that Charles's desire to slim it down was partly in response to popular opinion.

Peter and Zara live on Anne's estate, Gatcombe Park.

StCharlotte · 14/11/2019 07:21

Um, I keep seeing comments about this but how do we know Camilla is unwell?

bohemia14 · 14/11/2019 07:24

I love the green jacket - I'm a sucker for velvet! I'm not keen on Beatrice's outfit. It's just a bit ordinary, although that's perhaps what she intended.

Rhubarbisevil · 14/11/2019 07:26

Am a bit disappointed that William didn’t go the whole hog in this little House of Bruar gem

Rhubarbisevil · 14/11/2019 07:27

Camilla pulled out of a few recent engagements due to a chest infection. It seems to be an ongoing issue.
