In light of the several upcoming engagements for W&K while H&M allegedly take a 6 week break!

Ooh lovely, thanks Tipsy I was only fast because I'm on here when I should be doing the ironing......

TipseyTorvey · 13/11/2019 20:06

Exactly @bohemia14 it's all 'so Colin bought an island in the Caribbean' and 'all the children (5) went to private school but had nannies so we could jet set' and 'we bought a new house in London every couple of years out of boredom'. Started to wind me up after a while if I'm honest. We live a fairly comfortable life, we don't worry about food and live in our one semi detached etc but this was another level of excess.

paradyning · 13/11/2019 20:15

The wording of that statement is very interesting. They are closing out any criticism before it can start (although it's already started weeks ago)

SenecaFalls · 13/11/2019 20:26

Actually that statement doesn't even say that they will be in the US at Christmas. It just says they will be spending it with Doria. So it could be anywhere. Well, anywhere except Sandringham.

derxa · 13/11/2019 20:29

And what happened to the Mumsnet mantras “My little family” and “Make your own traditions”? And in the real world people go and visit their in laws and grin and bear it.

N0tfinished · 13/11/2019 20:46

KLAXON! WILLIAM NOT IN FLEECE ALERT!!!

Via E Holmes on Insta. Quite dashing!

DevonUkelele · 13/11/2019 20:46

I agree @paradyning. Interesting... and pretty terse too.

But interesting also for what it doesn't say. As PP has already pointed out (I think), it doesn't actually say they will be in the US, for instance - just with Doria.

And it makes the points about the past two christmases at Sandringham, and the Queen's approval. Take that, critics! 🧐

N0tfinished · 13/11/2019 20:47

He is at Centrepoint 50th anniv.gala

QueenOfTheAndals · 13/11/2019 20:53

Is William wearing... velvet???

OP posts:
N0tfinished · 13/11/2019 20:54

GREEN velvet

QueenOfTheAndals · 13/11/2019 20:55

Looks like the Pakistan trip has inspired him to take a few sartorial risks!

OP posts:
N0tfinished · 13/11/2019 21:09

I wonder if green velvet dinner jackets are the royal equivalent of the Christmas jumper...

BeatriceTheBeast · 13/11/2019 21:15

Oh I can't decide if I like the green velvet... part of me really wants to like it, but the other part can't help but think "snooker table" Halloween Grin.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 13/11/2019 21:28

William: Awesome!
I love him taking fashion risks.
I hope he wears more mad shit as he gets older.
Why should the women get all the headlines for their clothes?!

Beatrice is also at Centrepoint tonight

frugalkitty · 13/11/2019 21:28

I'm chuckling at 'snooker table' Grin

I can't believe they've only had to endure two christmases in Norfolk before bolting....I had to do years, years I tell you, before I got to opt out (and they came to us Hmm) lucky buggers

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 13/11/2019 21:34

@frugalkitty.
Are you secretly Kate?
( is that how you lured HH into your airing cupboard....) Grin

slippyfeet · 13/11/2019 21:40

Ok, I will accept that was not a fleece. Sorry William! It looked like one, and he has previous!

I like the velvet, good for him!

peridito · 13/11/2019 21:45

A whole suit in green velvet !!!!!

justasking111 · 13/11/2019 21:49

Beatrice outfit is fantastic, she looks so much better in this than the cluttered look she wears officially.

ElspethFlashman · 13/11/2019 21:53

I approve hugely of rich green velvet. Lovely.

BeatriceTheBeast · 13/11/2019 21:55

Beatrice outfit is fantastic

Oh STOP! You. Shucks.

Ahem, yes, I also really like Beatrice's outfit. Shoes are bonkers, (or maybe I'm not able to make them out properly - are they transparent sandals?) but she makes it work I think.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 13/11/2019 21:56

Hmm, sooo...That's Claudia Winkleman and Shirley Ballas with William, and Shirl still has her pre explant bosoms, so I deduce from that that it was a Strictly event from at least two weeks ago. What was he doing in head to toe velvet - showdance perhaps?Grin

ElspethFlashman · 13/11/2019 21:57

Dress by Cynthia Rowley, boots by Zara.

Not mad on the boots tbh. But seasonally appropriate I guess.

To be fair on Meghan, many women (after having had a baby) want to spend the first Christmas with their own Mother.
I didn't though only because my step-dad is an arse & won't have anyone staying at 'his' house'. Mind you no one wants to stay at DM's because of him & the way he treats & controls my DM. Silly woman has developed Stockholm Syndrome, thinks it's because he loves her so much & puts up with it, yet can't believe how other people stay with controlling/abusive spouses!!

Also Sandringham at Christmas is more energetic than running a marathon 5 times back to back.
It's scheduled to the minute, set wake up & bed times, meal times, activities, required x amount of clothing changes, little ones fed in the nursery etc.
No wonder H & M want a rest as it's exhausting without a new baby, isn't it frugal Wink
Plus throw in Andrew & his alleged shenanigans and Will & H's issues, well it makes Den serving Angie with divorce papers at Christmas in Eastenders seem like an episode of In The Night Garden meets The Nativity, all cosy & peace on Earth Smile

Though I do love the idea of buying the daftest present you can find or something under a tenner.
I also like charades.

JaimeBronde · 13/11/2019 21:59

One year Harry bought HMQ a shower/bath cap with the slogan 'Life's a bitch' on it. Kate bought Harry a DIY girlfriend kit & Charles got Anne an ironing board cover (apparently as her old one was extremely tatty).
