Oh now that is gloriously wonderful! What outfit would not sparkle with that scarf! Pink snags to match?

picklemepopcorn · 08/11/2019 10:45

It's nice to see where people get their clothes- so many good looking places turn out to be scams/dodgy, I've given up looking.

I might try Popsy out.

HaveFunStorminTheCastle · 08/11/2019 11:42

Happy Birthday Nancy! Super jealous of your present.

I'm not posting outfits at the moment because I am so so boring, and I need to get my act together and see what actually lives in my wardrobe and start making an effort!

I proper like that Popsy dress with the bright animal print. It's lush.

InglouriousBasterd · 08/11/2019 11:56

@Moominfan I’ve just realised I follow you on Instagram Grin when you posted the pic! Love your style!

AliasGrape · 08/11/2019 12:17

I like seeing outfits anyway, Grape- it gives us ideas about how things look, different things to try.

Lovely Nancy! The necklace works really well, must rediscover my necklaces...

Is that sleeve a bit lacey?

NancyEspana · 08/11/2019 15:31

It is indeed a bit lacey of sleeve popcorn! They're sort of flared and lacey. A bit boho I suppose.

Moominfan · 08/11/2019 16:31

Ingloriousbasterd thank you! Love a good fashion thread x

Myshitisreal · 09/11/2019 01:15

Frankenstein and Wednesday are brand new. Everything else is thrifted. I've a few more. Really loved the popsy pink dress. Happy birthday Nancy I think it was

Let's see if these work. It's Amazing how much taking a picture helps me see the outfits differently 🤔 really love seeing everyone's pictures every day, very inspirational ♥ the heart sees its thrifted primark 16, the black dress is thrifted from Bohoo 16 pencil style that I would never have the confidence to wear without coverings or clever layering (least I like to think its clever 😂) 🤗

picklemepopcorn · 09/11/2019 08:05

I like all the outfits, MSIR, but the dress with the print and belt is especially gorgeous!
In the middle picture, is the jacket very tailored? It hangs beautifully.

gringina · 09/11/2019 08:09

That is a lovely dress, you look very classy.

Daddylonglegs1965 · 09/11/2019 08:18

Just catching up with threads everyone looks fab. @picklemepopcorn where did you get your lovely lagenlook jacket from please and how tall are you? I am trying to lose weight and it’s going slowly. I am the same size as you (carry most of my weight on my tummy unfortunately) and 6ft tall. Sometimes these types of things are cut in the wrong place for me but would love something like this in navy or teal if available. I am usually always overly hot so think it would be worn open 9 times out of 10 with me.

Someone up thread mentioned sewing being tall and plus sized I have started to sew.
The shops seem to cater for small and large petite sizes, average size and tall slim figures but tall and plus size clothing is non existent.

picklemepopcorn · 09/11/2019 08:24

Directly from Lagenlook- it's in the sale. I'm 5'6"

HanarCantWearSweaters · 09/11/2019 08:40

Have been lurking here, was never brave enough to look at the first thread. It’s so refreshing to see everyone sharing and encouraging and feeling like there’s scope here to wear lovely things plus size.

Does anyone else feel like they aren’t the right kind of big? The more acceptable/easy to dress and look good kind? I have a large, (now overhanging and droopy after a lot of weight loss) stomach, small boobs, small bum and large solid legs with huge calves. I’d like to start dating but convinced I wouldn’t get any takers as the things people say their DH/BF likes about their size (curvy, big boobs big bum) I don’t have. I thought I’d feel prettier or sexier or more feminine when I lost some weight but I feel shapeless.

picklemepopcorn · 09/11/2019 08:57

Sweaters, I think after losing weight it can take a while to redistribute to 'better' places! I always lose my boobs first which as I'm a pear is not helpful! The only time I kept weight off, it eventually shifted and my boobs filled out again.

I know what you mean about the wrong sort of fat- we have some perfectly proportioned Amazonian goddesses on here! Apparently size 20 when you are 6' is very different from when you are 5'5!

Remember the pears are looking at the apples lovely legs enviously. The apples are looking at the pears waist enviously, and so on.

There will be something that you want to emphasise- it might not be the usual bum legs or boobs, but it will work for you!

mixedpeel · 09/11/2019 09:34

pickle, this is so helpful for me:

Remember the pears are looking at the apples lovely legs enviously. The apples are looking at the pears waist enviously and so on.

Like sweater, I’ve got small boobs and massive legs, including the thick calves. I’ve realised this makes me really focus on the slim, shapely legs or lovely décolletage on people with a different shape to me.

I read Mumsnet much more than I post, but just wanted to say a massive thank you to the OP for starting these threads, and for everyone who posts so openly.

mixedpeel · 09/11/2019 10:08

sweaters, I find cowl necks and boat necks to be flattering. A small V is fine, too, but anything too deep, whether scoop or V just emphasises my lack of cleavage. I’m fairly broad, so my boobs are just too damn far away from each other!

I’m not saying I’m the same shape as you, and nor am I a classic pear, though I have still got something of a waist above my Caesarian overhang. I don’t have wide hips, but my arse sticks out at the back, so I’m curvy side on if you see what I mean. Then big thighs and calves.

mixedpeel · 09/11/2019 10:10

Sorry, all that was related to sweater’s post about feeling like the ‘wrong’ kind of fat. But whatever our shape I’m convinced we look better than we realise.

NowWeSuckingDiesel · 09/11/2019 10:17

sweaters its so funny that you just posted this as i was thinking i was the wrong plus size too! Although I'm an apple shape and very envious of people who can tuck tops in and wear dainty belts, that's why you won't see any side ways photos of me! If this thread shows anything it's that our insecurities are other people's desires and vice versa. I like looking at plus size instagrammers as i find the confidence they portray (even if it's faked) makes me try to embrace my size rather than hate it.
