sprinkle why do you need the boots/shoes (jeans, dresses, casual, work etc)? Do you particularly need a wide fit? If you want something really comfortable, you're probably better off trying in store. If you want something a bit more interesting (for the want of a better word), perhaps somebody will be able to give you other suggestions of where you can look.

I'd wear black tights/socks with red Mary Jane's. Make of that what you will, I'm the first to admit some of my sartorial choices have been odd over the years.

NancyEspana · 06/12/2019 15:43

With dresses, I wear them with tights, but with jeans I wear no socks. Not great in winter though, but spring, autumn and summer it's usually fine.

Sprinklemetinsel · 06/12/2019 16:02

Ok, thank you both!

I need them because the only shoes (hotter) I find comfy at the moment are crumbling on the sole. I need lots of impact absorption, and a reasonably wide style. I used to love fly London, but the last few pairs haven't fit well/lasted well/been that comfy.

I have burgundy Rieker ankle boots that are just about ok.
Black ankle boots that are almost ok. (No idea what brand)
Two lovely pairs of shoes from socofy but I can only wear them for limited time/distance. Ok when I'll be mainly sitting down.

Seeing a great Hotter sale I thought I'd take advantage of it.

Myshitisreal · 06/12/2019 16:38

Can you get the boots fixed at a cobblers to keep you going until you get new 😊

Sprinklemetinsel · 06/12/2019 16:46

I definitely will! Just to prolong them anyway.

But I'm still keeping an eye out for more! In the shoe shop today I couldn't believe how hard it is now I'm old and decrepit to get shoes that fit! It was like a weird fusion of Goldilocks and Cinderella!

TheSummoningDark · 06/12/2019 17:09

That makes perfect sense. Between chasing after DS and my old ankle injury due to wearing stupid shoes I tend to think 1.are they comfortable 2.can I run in them and if I'm lucky then 3.do I like them. 3 is optional.

I was hoping to narrow it down a bit for you while the sale is on. I can see the Chelsea type ones being a fairly versatile option. No idea on shoes though.

The problem with the more moulded soles on some of the styles is they can't be repaired easily.

Sprinklemetinsel · 06/12/2019 17:10

That's a good point! I'll have to check that.

mixedpeel · 06/12/2019 17:53

Quick reply to tinsel - have a look at Moshulu - they are known for comfort too. I have fairly wide feet and find them good for that, too.

Kittykate15 · 06/12/2019 18:49

Hello, loving all the gorgeous outfits on here, my wardrobe is really depressing me at the mo. Just set up a thread and hoping you can help... www.mumsnet.com/Talk/style_and_beauty/3761972-Is-it-that-hard-to-find-a-nice-top

motortroll · 06/12/2019 18:50

Going out. Does this look ok???? Not a great photo. Trousers are wide leg velvet and jumper sparkly bat wing. I think it's a bit dull and wish I'd bought a more interesting top!

Low stiletto heels.

It's not dull! It's classic and tasteful- there will be a hint of bling when you move, but not in your face!

Sprinklemetinsel · 06/12/2019 18:52

Thank you Peel! Will go and see.

Sprinklemetinsel · 06/12/2019 18:56

What do we think of 'I love leggings'? Has anyone tried?

I'm going to be going to the gym. 😱

TheSummoningDark · 06/12/2019 19:03

@motortroll it looks lovely, not dull at all. Where are the trousers from, if you don't mind me asking?

Wwbouffeydo · 06/12/2019 21:23

Hi everyone- long time lurked first time poster! You all look amazing - this threat is major style goals! It's been miserable here today so I have gone cosy rather than stylish. Here's my offering- my favourite winter jumper in the whole world- this season's h and m, size xl, £25, primark black lift and shape jeans, size 18, £10, I think? And my boots are M and S but found them in a charity shop. I have an addiction to charity shops!

Ps. Motortroll - I think you look super elegant. Have you got any really sparkly jewelry to set it off?

NancyEspana · 06/12/2019 21:53

Very elegant @motortroll!

Also love the cosy outfit @wwbouffeydo.

RougeVinEtFromage · 07/12/2019 11:35

@Wwbouffeydo ooooh I'm really quite obsessed with cosy jumpers and I love this one! I really think the primark jumpers this year are fab, they don't look cheap and nasty and they wash really well. I have a cream jumper similar to this from jaeger and it's bobbled terribly!

AliasGrape · 07/12/2019 12:40

Hen do ready in dress from Debenhams (brand is called Tenki) size 18, current season. Quiz ankle boots tights just from Sainsburys.

You look beautiful alias! It's your hen isn't it? Have a lovely evening! What are you up to for it if that isn't too nosey?

Sprinklemetinsel · 07/12/2019 13:10

You look beautiful Grape! That style really suits you- very hourglass.
Have a fabulous weekend.

bridgetreilly · 07/12/2019 14:59

That's a gorgeous dress, @aliasgrape, and you look FABULOUS in it! Have fun!!

steppemum · 07/12/2019 17:03

Oh I have just foudn this thread and it is great!
I am 5'8" and a size 18-22.
I'm depserately looking for a nice jumper. My problem is that I am tallish and veyr long bodied, which means all standard jumpers are just too short.
I'd love a nice warm jumper, patterned or plain, V neck, scoop neck, cowl neck, darkish colours.
I just can't find one, and I am really out fo touch with shops, for years I dressed from George at Asda Blush I don't even recognise some of the shop names people are refering too.
I hate buying on line as I want to try it on, even when I measure the length, it doesn't always work.

Any suggestions?

steppemum · 07/12/2019 17:04

keep seeing pinafores in shops and dismissing them, wondering if I should try one on!

Sprinklemetinsel · 07/12/2019 18:08

Primark jumpers get lots of love down the thread, Steppe?

It depends what kind you want, really.
