This dress with these boots?

I have this dress which fits like a dream. I am not tall like the model so it sits mid calf on me. Can I wear it with these leopard boots? Or i wonder if i should get it shortened and wear it with my regular knee highs?

they arent sexy dress boots imo.

AmIThough · 01/11/2019 10:11

I agree with PP.
I think that's not a casual enough dress.

HyperemesisandPND · 01/11/2019 10:16

What should I wear with it? I'm on a limited budget and dont want the whole outfit to feel too dressy.

The dress is lovely.
The boots will cut off your legs and make them appear shorter. And I personally don't like them, tbh.
what other footwear options do you have?

JoanBonJovi · 01/11/2019 10:39

the dress IS dressy

RosiePosiePuddle · 01/11/2019 10:49

That this quite a statement outfit. The dress and the boots and then together. I think the whole thing would look great, but if you are doubting it maybe you don't have enough confidence to pull it off.

HyperemesisandPND · 01/11/2019 10:51

I dont have anything unless I had it shortened. I could possibly wear my knee high boots then although I'm not sure if they are the right style. Possibly not. I'd have to try and figure that out before shortening it.
I know the dress is dressy. I'm not averse to dressy clothes. Just if I keep it I'd rather dress it down than dress it up if that makes sense and is possible to do.

Could you post a picture of your boots?

Slim mini skirts (like this) look really good with knee high boots imo....

CravingCheese · 01/11/2019 10:55

*midi
Not mini.

HyperemesisandPND · 01/11/2019 10:56

These are my knee highs. I also have a brown pair. I love them and wear them with everything normally but am unsure if they'd work with a shortened version of the dress.
Ooh do you think so rosieposiepuddle? I suppose the only way I would know is to give it a try.

@HyperemesisandPND what material is the dress? On first glance I thought it was pleather but now it looks more cotton-like.

HyperemesisandPND · 01/11/2019 10:57

They definitely dont work with it at this length although I haven't tried the brown pair yet. I think they are too clumpy for it though.

HyperemesisandPND · 01/11/2019 10:58

It's a Jersey fabric.

whydoineedanickname · 01/11/2019 10:59

No not with the boots you have. They aren’t dressy enough

HyperemesisandPND · 01/11/2019 11:06

Could it work with ballerina style shoes do you think?

OP posts:
JoanBonJovi · 01/11/2019 11:09

Lol. No to those boots too. Come on op. Pop to new look and get the right footwear

ReturnofSaturn · 01/11/2019 11:10

I don't think that dress is particularly dressy. It's a jersey dress right?
But not sure if the boots would work because of the length of the dress.

CravingCheese · 01/11/2019 11:11

Shorten it provisionally by pinning it up with a few needles / pins to see whether you like it with your boots / any of your shoes?

Alicia9999 · 01/11/2019 11:13

I really don't know what to say about those Timberland boots...

AmIThough · 01/11/2019 11:16

@ReturnofSaturn I thought it was pleather initially but now obviously we know it's more casual.

lurkingfromhome · 01/11/2019 11:22

Both pairs of boots are really not good (with or without the dress), but for different reasons. Ballet pumps definitely not.

Maybe a calf-length slouchy boot with a block heel? Something in grey suede would be nice with the dress. Or trainers, unless you're looking for something a bit more suitable for winter. Or maybe a sock boot.

MrsMaiselsMuff · 01/11/2019 11:24

Those Timberlands are hideous. Don't get them.

You're going to struggle to get any ankle boots to go with a midi dress if you're on the shorter side, all the proportions are wrong. Either a slim black knee high boot, or a heel. Flats possibly. You don't want anything that cuts your leg below the dress line.

inwood · 01/11/2019 11:27

No no no no to both pairs. I dont think you can really dress a dress like that down unless you have youth and amzing figure on your side and can pull of a pair of Air Max or Stan Smiths and a bomber jacket.

inwood · 01/11/2019 11:27
