So it was long necklaces a few years ago then scarves. So what now?

Beesandcheese · 29/10/2019 09:21

Worn by all those frumpy french ladies with Bretton tops and ballet flats? Yes. Hellishly frumpy

CalamityJune · 29/10/2019 09:21

There is definitely a Dad style. Loose jeans and trainers. Clothes that look like your wife has bought you them. Slightly too big checked shirt with jeans to go to the pub.

Hollachica · 29/10/2019 09:21

Love a silk scarf, will often wear one with an outfit indoors & out. If I am chilly at home I will put a scarf round my neck. I really don't care what you think OP.

clutchingon · 29/10/2019 09:23

Op I agree. My mil bought me one for my birthday. I looked at it and wondered if I could use it as a blanket on my sofa.

NoughtDegreesNought · 29/10/2019 09:23

obv wear if you’re still channelling 2010

Well, high fashion at the mo is channelling what we used to wear back in the 80s and early 90s, so it all looks rather déja vu to me.

I've ceased to care about all this prescriptive shit about in and out.
Find your personal style and you look and feel good whatever, it all comes round again at some point anyway.

AliciaQuays · 29/10/2019 09:24

Love blankets. Agree - you all know what an indoor scarf is.

Put them in the drawer marked
“Leggings. White stuff tunics. Button necklaces “

Converse too. Reeks of “trendy mom”

I think the OP thinks herself like the idiot who wrote this article on the indoor scarf

What the fuck calling a silk scarf indoor scarf and pretending it’s something that was once new and is now over. 🤣🤣🤣 Silk scarves have been worn for centuries in one way or another.

TSSDNCOP · 29/10/2019 09:27

I think any item of clothing that is described as “snuggly” is not going to light up S&B.

That said I’d like to ban the word snuggly from the dictionary full stop.

MilkTrayLimeBarrel · 29/10/2019 09:27

AliciaQuays - no I DO NOT know what an indoor scarf is - I have never heard the expression before! I do think you are rather rude, criticising other people's choice of clothes/accessories. What difference does it make to you? Each to their own.

Trewser · 29/10/2019 09:27

Love being a "trendy mom mum"!

LaCerbiatta · 29/10/2019 09:28

To everyone saying wear what you like, mind you're own business: THIS IS STYLE AND BEAUTY!

evilharpy · 29/10/2019 09:29

Some of these replies are harsh. I wonder if people are replying because the thread is showing up in the Active list and they're getting it confused with AIBU - this is Style & Beauty so generally people posting here are bothered about being vaguely fashionable in line with current trends.

Anyway. I have a Liberty scarf that I occasionally tie around a bun or onto a handbag, but I haven't worn a floaty type scarf indoors for years. I don't see a lot of people around here wearing them.

Shutupseaguls · 29/10/2019 09:33

I'm a mum I don't wear scarfs at all as I have the neck of Uncle Feaster from the Addams family but I do love my converse and don't care what anyone thinks of them. They are also great for my job as I work in a special school and need to be able to sprint after escaping kids at the drop of a hat.

ExpletiveDEVILighted · 29/10/2019 09:33

I don't like them, never have so I am quite glad they are out of fashion.

Also, if indoor scarves, whatever they may be, were ever your "be all and end all" you need to get life. Seriously.

SpiderCharlotte · 29/10/2019 09:35

Indeed it is @LaCerbiatta and Style and Beauty is subjective don't you think?

I'm no fan of the indoor scarf myself, but I wouldn't dream of scoffing at or trying to belittle someone who does like them. That's just being a dick.

Perhaps the OP is a style icon, but I very much doubt it.

ArtieFufkinPolymerRecords · 29/10/2019 09:36

Converse too. Reeks of “trendy mom”

I don't wear converse, but I'm not sure what your point is here.
Are you complaining because women wear Converse, which are not acceptably fashionable enough for you, but (in your opinion) the women wearing them think they are fashionable, which is why you are judging them?

merrymouse · 29/10/2019 09:36

There used to be nothing as frumpy as high waisted jeans, until they became fashionable again.

Once the be all and end all, now awful.

That is rather how fashion works, but luckily it isn't the law.

DisgruntledGuineaPig · 29/10/2019 09:36

OP - by "indoor scarf" do you mean the floaty scarf look?

Yes, it is a bit dated as a look, a chunky wool scarf will look more fashionable right now, however it's annoyingly inbetweeny weather wise at the moment - a thick chunky scarf would leave a sweaty neck if worn for more than a few minutes walk, but no scarf will give a cold neck. Floaty scarves are therefore in abundance on the school run this week, and yes, many will continue to wear them indoors.

Give it 5 years and scarves to be worn indoors as a fashion accessory, not for neck warmth will make a come back, possibly combined with a new and exciting way to tie it so it's completely different to the frumpy ones your Mum wore in 2010 for the young types going for this new exciting look... There will be a new trend and it'll take off as its a cheap way to update outfits.

(the 80s silk square, 90s pashmina, or the 00's thin long scarf, the 2010's thicker floaty number - we're due something else soon)

kalinkafoxtrot45 · 29/10/2019 09:37

„mumsy“
„trendy mom“

Hmm
