Would this be when you take a long scarf and loop it to wear with long tunic top and sensible trouser combo?

Deathraystare · 01/11/2019 08:23

Not sure why anyone would need to wear one indoors - unless they refuse to turn the heating on???

The only one in my family that did that was my dad -it was actually more of a cravat. His 'manflu' wear was a dressing gown (with small bottle of whisky in the pocket) and a cravat! Mum thought he was channeling Noel Coward! This was the only time he dressed up like that or drank whisky.

Mind you towards the end of his life he wore an orange (faded) t shirt and jeans......

merrymouse · 01/11/2019 09:00

What is a tie if not an indoor scarf?

Musicforsnorks · 01/11/2019 09:01

Well the pint of sherry and a cravat wearing dad cheered me up on a cold wet morning!

GeorgianaDovesHouse · 01/11/2019 10:37

Me too! Grin

ilovetofu · 01/11/2019 15:07

Ooo I love a sherry! 😆

milliefiori · 02/11/2019 07:55

Ladies, the sherries are on me.Wine Wine Wine After trying on about four different outfits I went out last night wearing an indoor scarf and felt very good in it.

DustyMaiden · 02/11/2019 09:48

Nothing frumpier than sherry, it’s what old ladies drink.

TheLittleDogLaughed · 02/11/2019 10:37

DustyMaiden nothing frumpier than someone who refers to people as ‘old ladies.’

I love a chilled dry sherry and I’m proud of it.

PaulHollywoodsleftbollockhair · 02/11/2019 10:44

I am wearing an indoor scarf out today.

Obviously I shall be fortified by a swift sherry to offset the social embarrassment this is likely to cause...only because it is too early for port... Grin

DustyMaiden · 02/11/2019 12:45

TheLittleDogLaughed

What do I know? I may be old but I’m no lady.

championquartz · 02/11/2019 12:49

Grin at sherry being an ‘old ladies drink’.Grin

Due a revival, I tell you. We’re just ahead of the curve. While wearing our indoor scarves.
Remember Victoria wood and Kimberley and her pints of sherry?? Anyone?? I’m always quoting it.

Loveislandaddict · 02/11/2019 13:47

Quite like a sherry. Prefer it to gin.

Do people offer a glass if sherry before meals anymore.

DaphneFanshaw · 02/11/2019 13:48

I love sherry, especially a nice dry one.
Alas, I also love an indoor scarf.
Meh, I can deal with being a frumpy fucker.

DaphneFanshaw · 02/11/2019 13:49

Only on Frasier Love.

Shockers · 03/11/2019 05:01

It’s 5am and I’m now craving a chilled schooner of Tio Pepe, thanks to this thread Grin.

Spaceprincess · 03/11/2019 08:21

@Bowerbird5 I wore them all the time when I was NHS, patient facing , non uniform to cover my cleavage.
I'm going back at xmas, so will be back on the indoor scarf mum train....
My DD works at Jigsaw, one of the first things she had to learn was 'scarf styling '.

milliefiori · 03/11/2019 08:25

On the subject of sherry, I once went to a Spanish festival that the organisers had cancelled but forgot to tell the stall holders. They had all set up and were so pissed off they had no license to sell anything. The Tio Pepe man called DH and me into his tent and gave us some amazing 20 year old sherries on the house and we stood chatting with him. Very cool drink to sip with your indoor scarf on.

DaphneFanshaw · 03/11/2019 13:28

Has anyone on here been to the sherry bar in Kings Cross?
I am not implying that everyone on here is from LondonGrin.
I went a few years ago and have loved sherry every since.

Shockers · 03/11/2019 13:36

My elderly neighbour has a small sherry at 11am each day. A few years running, I bought her bottles of great quality, dry sherry. She confessed to DH that she mixed it with her Croft Original to make it ‘drinkable’ Grin.

milliefiori · 03/11/2019 13:55

@DaphneFanshaw I had no idea it existed. That's definitely going on the bucket list. Grin

milliefiori · 03/11/2019 13:56

@Shockers We have some manzanilla lurking in the cupboard from last Christmas. Pale and dry. Might have to get it out.

AndromedaPerseus · 03/11/2019 17:38

A chilled dry sherry with tapas is the dogs b***ks. Love an indoor scarf keeps your neck and cleavage nice and warm also prevents your kidneys getting a chill

JaneJeffer · 03/11/2019 19:57

Be sure to wear a mantilla whilst drinking your manzanilla everyone.

FilledSoda · 05/11/2019 11:18

I've just bought my first bottle of sherry Grin
