Yeah i thought this.

notso · 29/10/2019 10:07

I really miss the 2010 indoor scarf thing. Warm and practical.

Mummyoflittledragon · 29/10/2019 10:07

Judging by the current fashion and scarf print stuff eg River Island bedding, I’d say they may be coming back in.

bengalcat · 29/10/2019 10:08

My man wears a pashmina

notso · 29/10/2019 10:09

This is what I'm referring to.

There’s nothing as frumpy as indoor scarves
SpiderCharlotte · 29/10/2019 10:12

Give us a clue @notso? Grin

RedElephants · 29/10/2019 10:13

Look Darling, old biddies like me, will wear what ever they damn well want..

We don't need someone who thinks they're 'young/trendy/with it/whatever) to tell us what we should or shouldn't be wearing.

Jeez Hmm
Here have a biscuit Biscuit

Elodie2019 · 29/10/2019 10:14

Put them in the drawer marked Leggings. White stuff tunics. Button necklaces “

I feel the same about my teenage DD's wardrobe. Urban outfitters in particular loves to bring back a strange mix of '70s,'80s and '90s 'fashion'. Much of which was worn by my very unfashionable parents back in the day. Never by the younger generation.
The 'Afghan' style coat we saw at the weekend is a good example. As are 'dad' trainers...The two were displayed together in the shop. WTF!

Sotoes · 29/10/2019 10:14

My indoor essential, my little comfort blanket, is a 'pinny', pocket on the front for pegs and tissues. Never without one.

Much more useful than a scarf.

TheGoddessFrigg · 29/10/2019 10:16

Also men wearing those stripy scarves in a loop round their neck. JUST STOP IT.

evilharpy · 29/10/2019 10:16

Elodie2019 Link to Afghan coat? I wonder if it's the same type we had in the 90s with the hairy labels and sleeves. I loved mine and wore it to death.

SoupDragon · 29/10/2019 10:18

I have never heard the phrase "indoor scarf" before.

Elodie2019 · 29/10/2019 10:18

So, as you see... if most high st. Shops are 'channelling' a peculiar selection of '70s, '80s,'90s 'fashion' 'channelling' 2010 isn't so bad after all. Maybe you're the one out of touch OP!

Elodie2019 · 29/10/2019 10:21

Evil Not hairy thankfully! They're also not calling them Afghan coats but they're out there. Faux somethingorother.
Will try and find a link.

Basilicaofthemind · 29/10/2019 10:23

Agree that I haven’t wanted to wear an indoor scarf for a number of years. I mean I do to keep warm but not when I’m trying to actually look like I care. On the plus side, at least cardigans are back in fashion.

ScrimshawTheSecond · 29/10/2019 10:23

If 'frumpy' = 'keeps your neck warm', I'm in. Doctor Who scarves for me, nose to waist. And fluffy Uggs, bootleg leggings and smock tops. With fascinators. Whatever it takes.

PeterRouseTheFleshofMankind · 29/10/2019 10:23

Who remembers circa 2008 when every bloke would rock up to the pub in a tight t-shirt and one of these around their neck? Ah, them were the days Grin

I have never been a scarf girl myself, my only concession of course being The Mumsnet Scarf which I loved!

There’s nothing as frumpy as indoor scarves
evilharpy · 29/10/2019 10:26

PeterRouse I still have one of those somewhere!

InOtterNews · 29/10/2019 10:27

I love them - but then I travel a lot for work to countries where air conditioning is set to freezing so they are much needed. I also don't care about what's "in"

What I think is, there is nothing so ageing, as getting older.

Elodie2019 · 29/10/2019 10:31

On the plus side, at least cardigans are back in fashion.

Were they ever out of fashion? GrinWink

GameofPhones · 29/10/2019 10:33

Dress police on patrol again. Are we in Iran?

thenightsky · 29/10/2019 10:35

I had an Afghan coat in the 70s, never mind the 90s!

My mum swore it stank of dead old goat and threw it down the cellar steps where it stayed in between wearings. It wasn't allowed in the main house. Grin

FredaFrogspawn · 29/10/2019 10:37

I am amply bosomed and wear an indoor scarf most the time. It is not for reasons of modesty but because even at nearly 60, I seem to be unable to get a cup of coffee to my mouth without drops going on my front. Scarves with patterns are more forgiving than the plain tops I wear. But no one ever accused me of being at the cutting edge of haute couture.
