How much do you pay for a Cut and Blow Dry?

wasnotwasweregood · 25/10/2019 23:05

And roughly whereabouts are you?

£49 seems to be the going rate where I am (relatively prosperous town in SE England) but I was wondering if there is much of a difference in different parts of the country.

Thanks all!

£48 the other day in SE London. My first actually good hair cut in a really long time. And she didn't give me a weird porn star blow dry like every other salon seems too, thank god.

MyMommyYourMommy · 25/10/2019 23:07

€45 (or £38.88 today) so not far off in rural Ireland (town of 1,000 people)

MrBobLobLaw · 25/10/2019 23:07

Should have added this was an independent hairdressers (I.e not a chain like RUSH or whatever)

Span1elsRock · 25/10/2019 23:09

£40 here in Gloucestershire. Fairly nice salon, and that's the starting price.... senior staff start around £50 and it goes up to £75 if you have the owner.

lyingwanker · 25/10/2019 23:10

£25. That seems about average round here. I paid £30 at another salon who fitted my extensions.

lyingwanker · 25/10/2019 23:12

@Span1elsRock £75 for a cut and blowdry?! Jesus Christ how much better than a "normal" salon can they actually be to warrant charging that much for a hair cut and dry?

Yubaba · 25/10/2019 23:12

I pay £25, but I have waist length hair that I just get tided up, no styling. She spends longer drying it!
That in Manchester, in a local salon

wasnotwasweregood · 25/10/2019 23:13

Not as much variation as I had supposed, wish the salon I go to had 'weird porn star blow dry' as an option my limp, mousy locks might've benefited!

£45 last time I went, although they hoodwinked me into some fancy conditioning treatment so possibly a bit cheaper. They have a incomprehensible tier system of stylists so I'm not sure if that was a junior or senior.

HundredMilesAnHour · 25/10/2019 23:21

£100. That's in central London with the co-owner of a multi-award winning big name salon. My hair is a nightmare but he makes it look fabulous. He's been cutting my hair since I moved to London as a fresh graduate and he was a junior stylist in a well known salon. That was over 25 years ago and we've both grown up together and moved up the career ladder as we've grown.

wasnotwasweregood · 25/10/2019 23:23

Crikey Hundred, I'm happy for you and glad your fortunes improved alongside his!

PickAChew · 25/10/2019 23:28

£40 in Newcastle City centre. Independent salon.

PickAChew · 25/10/2019 23:30

With the salon owner, btw.

Ftumch · 25/10/2019 23:32

@wasnotwasweregood 😂😂😂

cowfacemonkey · 25/10/2019 23:36

£60 in Midlands

Zinnia · 25/10/2019 23:37

£55 with salon co-owner who's done my hair for about 15 years. It was £30 back then! West London.

cowfacemonkey · 25/10/2019 23:37

Probably the most expensive salon in our town though so not necessarily "average" for out town

Temeraire · 25/10/2019 23:39

64 quid in South London. Feels too much since they had the last increase and I always shudder a bit when paying it but I’m happy with her and there aren’t many good cheaper options nearby.

waitingfor40 · 25/10/2019 23:43

£20-£25 depending if I have a straight blow dry or bouncy blow dry I'm in north west England.

LeftoverPizza · 25/10/2019 23:45

About £25

haverhill · 25/10/2019 23:46

£30 - £40, Oxfordshire.

Skinnychip · 25/10/2019 23:48

I have mid length hair (it reaches about my elbows) and i would expect to pay £45-75 full price, depending on stylist which seems a lot to me so i just go wherever has an introductory offer i live in a fairly affluent home counties town. I had my hair done in norfolk last year and it was £30!

DontLettuceBrexitLettuceRomain · 25/10/2019 23:54

£65 in NE London. But as others said it's because she's the only person who gets my hair right!

Parker231 · 25/10/2019 23:56

£75 in central London

Onwardsagain · 25/10/2019 23:57

I have a few favourite hairdressers that I go to depending on what kind of cut I'd like at the time, after many terrible cuts because people didn't understand my hair as well as they said they did I've found three that are great and that I'm willing to travel to

Cambridge £90ish
London £85
Nottingham £50
