How much do you pay for a Cut and Blow Dry?

wasnotwasweregood · 25/10/2019 23:05

And roughly whereabouts are you?

£49 seems to be the going rate where I am (relatively prosperous town in SE England) but I was wondering if there is much of a difference in different parts of the country.

Thanks all!

I pay £35 for cut colour finish in the Midlands she would be about £20 i guess for cut and blow

Thesearmsofmine · 26/10/2019 12:41

£25-£30 in a midrange salon. I’m just outside of Leeds.

wasnotwasweregood · 26/10/2019 12:42

Thank you everyone for chipping in and answering my question - it really is an amazing spread of pricing. I think I might start investigating the hairdressers around my parents when I'm next visiting!

£30 cut and blow. In nw england. In a very image concious city so prices are slightly lower here as alot of compitition.

This is in a home salon though. In their spare room they have turned into a salon.

In a hairdressers be closer to £35 for a trainee upto £55ish for senior staff. On average.

CatherineMaitland · 26/10/2019 20:12

£80 to £100 for a curl-by-curl cut and dry (not a blow dry). It's worth every penny. And I only need to go once a year.

I gave up on non-curly hairdressers as they always insisted on a wet cut and then blow-drying my hair straight whatever I said to the contrary.

Stationeryqueen · 26/10/2019 20:17

I went this morning, cut, blow dry & straightened, was £25.

West Midlands, mid range salon with lovley hairdresser who rents a chair (rather than salon owner)

Chottie · 26/10/2019 20:18

£65.00 for a cut and blow dry in SE London. The average price for around here.....

EggysMom · 26/10/2019 20:22

I think it's about £25 in my local (suburban) salon in Manchester. Roots, cut & blow is £35.

Nextphonewontbesamsung · 26/10/2019 20:24

I pay £50 ish in SE London so am surprised to hear £65 is average around here.

Ragwort · 26/10/2019 20:24

£5 in the local training college Grin.

Nextphonewontbesamsung · 26/10/2019 20:26

Am intrigued by "very image concious [sic] city" in the NW. Are some cities more image conscious than others?

JessicaPeach · 26/10/2019 20:29

I'm guessing Liverpool for image conscious city! All beauty stuff is cheaper there for the reason the poster said, loads of competition.

Temeraire · 26/10/2019 20:29

Well SE London encompasses Dulwich, Greenwich, Blackheath, Catford and New Crosd so you’re going to get a fair amount of variation

Guessing that the image-conscious city might be Liverpool?

Nextphonewontbesamsung · 26/10/2019 20:31

Temeraire - I pay £50 in one of the more expensive areas in your list.

fluffygal · 26/10/2019 20:34

I always use groupon vouchers to get my hair cut so normally £15ish? I would not pay more than £25- I only have a tiny trim, there is hardly any hair taken off. It takes 10 minutes if that and then they spend FOREVER blow drying my hair- it annoys me so much! I can dry my hair in 10 minutes but it takes them half hour- same result at the end as my hair is naturally straight.

fluffygal · 26/10/2019 20:35

Oh and I am in Kent.

stoplickingthetelly · 26/10/2019 20:35

Cut and blow dry is £30. I’m in a small town in the northwest. This is with the salon owner in a small salon. There are some other salons that are a bit more expensive.

RedJoan · 27/10/2019 07:45

This thread has underlined that I definitely need to find someone else to cut my hair. I went to the Aveda institute in Covent Garden for more than a decade. This thread made me look at their prices, my hairdresser there is now the most senior person at the institute so more than I used to pay, however he is cheaper than a cut with owner of my Yorkshire salon!

Personally £50 is fine for me but actually £75 isn’t. I only ever have a cut and blow dry.

upallnightpain · 27/10/2019 07:47

@Onwardsagain where do you go in Cambridge ?

Shmithecat2 · 27/10/2019 07:48

Anywhere between £20 and £40 (North Hampshire) - the best being the £20 job by a newly qualified stylist. My hair is fairly unruly, but if a hairdresser has to get the straighteners out, I don't go back.

ivykaty44 · 27/10/2019 07:50

I have mine wet cut as I wash it everyday, hairdresser always drys my hair anyway so it looks nice £20 salon in town

Mollpop · 27/10/2019 07:51

Between £35 and £40

AuntieMarys · 27/10/2019 07:54

I've just checked on the websiteSmile...£44 in a northern city but 20% off on a Tuesday. I always have colour as well

Fairylea · 27/10/2019 07:55

About £25 here (South Norfolk). The “posher” salons charge about £35-40. You can also get your hair cut in Norwich for £15 in one of those walk in salons, it isn’t actually that bad! Grin

Doilooklikeatourist · 27/10/2019 07:57
