Am I the only one who hates Converse trainers?

I've owned 4 pairs now in different styles/material and all of them have given me horrific blisters and/or crushed my toes after an hour of wearing them.
I don't think I have particularly wide feet but when it comes to Converse it seems I do!

Am I the only one!? I loathe them.

I need a pair of casual trainers that I can wear with dresses, jeans etc that will stand the test of time- what are the alternatives?

Adidas sleek..
I ordered some from JD. Mine are off cream bordering on a grey. They're very neutral and look lovely with jeans and mid length dresses. They don't have Adidas labelled all over them either.

Either that, or Superga are a good brand and lots of different styles.
Alexander McQueen are lovely too.
Hope these suit your style. X

I'm not keen on them. Not enough arch support.

TableNiner · 23/10/2019 09:07

I find them a bit clown like, but they are pretty timeless and versatile. I have narrow feet and still don’t find them comfortable.

Scarybennet · 23/10/2019 09:11

I love them, sorry 😆
They are so light and comfortable. My feet are wide but it's not a problem.
When I'm stretched for cash Dunlop's are a good swap.
In Adidas gazelles for autumn though.

MinesaPinot · 23/10/2019 09:12

I've got 2 pairs and I love the look but agree they are not the most comfortable. I can't wear them all day in the same way that I can my Guess trainers.

I like the Adidas Sleek and also the Gazelles. They will be my next purchase I think.

megletthesecond · 23/10/2019 09:13

I will only wear them at work. They're no good for day to day wear..

whywhywhy6 · 23/10/2019 09:15

You’re on your own! I love them!

WeCameToDance · 23/10/2019 09:19

I have the same problem. I thought I just had weird feet as everybody seems to find them comfortable but me! I like vans. They give the same look without the toe crushing discomfort.

orangina01 · 23/10/2019 10:40

Agree! Hate them on me I looked ridiculous. Just sold a pair I had on eBay as I had them for 5 years and only worn a handful of times.

Pinkbonbon · 23/10/2019 10:44

The high top ones give me blisters. Love the low top ones though. Been waring them since 2007 when emo was all the rage xD

Never got into vans though.

MumsyMum31 · 23/10/2019 10:47

Hate them!! They are actually not good for support and can affect the back!!! I have 2 pairs but haven’t worn them in like over a year would like a daintier alternative also!

BarrenFieldofFucks · 23/10/2019 10:48

I love superstars

Aderyn19 · 23/10/2019 10:49

I quite like how they look but they aren't comfortable. I think life is too short to wear uncomfortable shoes. I buy vans for DD, the ones that have a bit of padding. I do like that everyone can wear trainers now, whereas in the past they weren't always acceptable for work or with dresses/suits.

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 23/10/2019 10:51

I loathe them for the fact that every grown woman wearing them thinks she is funky and unique and feels the need to tell people about their "converse". Because as actual shoes, they aren't anything special, so its not like they are giving an orthopaedic benefit.

I especially eyeroll at brides wearing them under their dress and then having "ironic" pictures of the two together.

BareKneesDeCourcy · 23/10/2019 10:52

My old one are really comfy, but I’ve got two more pairs bought in the last couple of years, in my normal size, that crush my toes a bit. My feet are narrow too. Next half size up way too big. So something has changed and I’m not tempted to buy any more, sadly.

Whatsnewpussyhat · 23/10/2019 10:52

They are too flat for me. I need a slightly elevated heel. Gazelles are nice.

Blueuggboots · 23/10/2019 10:53

I love the way they look but find them incredibly uncomfortable. They have no padding in the soles at all!

DioneTheDiabolist · 23/10/2019 10:59

You are not the only one OP. They're uncomfortable, lack support and wear out in no time. I have given up on converse.

Arsenicinthesugarbowl · 23/10/2019 11:06

I like the look of them but they hurt my feet so badly I haven’t had a pair that were comfortable since I was a teenager.

HetHetHet · 23/10/2019 11:18

I don't mind the look of them but they feel like wearing cardboard shoes. They make my feet cold too. Sad

imclaustrophobicdarren · 23/10/2019 11:23

They're like a mum uniform. Not remotely stylish.

HildaSnibbs · 23/10/2019 11:23

I find them really heavy and they rubbed my toes - I much prefer trains from Toms. Not the thin soles slip on Toms but their actual proper trainers - really light soles and I've never had a blister from 3 pairs

Toms trainers

walkintheparc · 23/10/2019 11:25

Superga are a great alternative for that canvas look, they are much chicer and more grown up.

Iwouldbecomplex · 23/10/2019 11:27

Same - they murder my feet! Especially my little toes. I did buy a pair of copycat white Converse from Aldi recently though for about £4 just to try them, and they don't hurt.

JenniferM1989 · 23/10/2019 11:28

I love them and also Adidas gazelles
