Am I the only one who hates Converse trainers?

I've owned 4 pairs now in different styles/material and all of them have given me horrific blisters and/or crushed my toes after an hour of wearing them.
I don't think I have particularly wide feet but when it comes to Converse it seems I do!

Am I the only one!? I loathe them.

I need a pair of casual trainers that I can wear with dresses, jeans etc that will stand the test of time- what are the alternatives?

My Gazelles destroy my heels, which is a shame as I love them.

Ellapaella · 23/10/2019 11:35

I have really wide feet and find converse super comfy. The only other branded trainers I can really wear are Nike - I find other brands far too narrow. I have these which are really comfy and great for wide feet https://www.esprit.co.uk/trainers-in-vegan-faux-leather-089EK1W039_020

I find them so comfy! Unlike Vans which rip the back of my heels to shreds. Unfortunately I can't seem to wear Converse without looking/feeling like a 14 year old. Everyone else seems to look good in them. Maybe I'm paranoid. They were the shoes of my emo youth so maybe I'm projecting Grin

Legomadx2 · 23/10/2019 11:42

Agree. They always look dirty and smelly on other people.

And they're the most uncomfortable trainers out there.

WhatFreshHell71 · 23/10/2019 11:45

I like them but they are bad for your feet zero support.

I get the start of plantar fasciitis every time I wear mine. I avoid now.

Adidas Sleek sounds nice.

FthisS · 23/10/2019 11:47

I love them but I'm a size 3 so fit in children's sizes

Idontneeditatall · 23/10/2019 12:08

Agree op. I don’t like the look of converse or how flat and hard they are underfoot. Awful

Maryann1975 · 23/10/2019 14:48

Ive has my first ever pair of converse recently. The grip has all worn away in less than 2 months so I’m not overly impressed with them. They are comfy enough, but they've worn so quickly.

BezalHell · 23/10/2019 15:23

Clown shoes!

QueenofLouisiana · 23/10/2019 16:44

Superga are my preferred choice. Much more comfortable, I’m on my third pair.

ChipsAreLife · 23/10/2019 16:49

I got some in the states that had elasticated backs, by rubbing!

ChipsAreLife · 23/10/2019 16:49

No rubbing!!!!

ProseccoIsTheAnswerHere · 23/10/2019 17:00

They kill me too - i stuck to adidas gazelles and superstars instead

ProseccoIsTheAnswerHere · 23/10/2019 17:01

My kids had Vans and absolutely refused to wear them even though they loved the design

Moondancer73 · 23/10/2019 17:06

I love them but these days actually find my rocket dogs more comfortable, they're wider and just a bit more forgiving.

Signifyingnothing · 23/10/2019 17:11

I love how they look on other people, but they kill my little toes. I have size 7 get so always assumed I just have boat feet.

They're also terrible for walking long ish distances, the soles of my feet end up getting almost bruised.

I tried superga and much prefer them. I bought the claret ones worn by Fleabag. They rock.

ReginaGeorgeous · 23/10/2019 19:47

I hate them too. I had a pair I only wore once, they ripped my little toes to shreds. I gave them to a friends teen daughter after that. I've got wide feet, the comfiest things I have are Stan Smiths. I'm on about my fiftieth pair.

Thismummyruns · 23/10/2019 21:33

I'm not alone!
Some great suggestions, I will be looking at these over the weekend and definitely treating myself to some non-blister inducing, torturous trainers!

Really uncomfortable with no support for the feet....tried a pair on and left the shop...don't understand the hype over them at all....

LivingDeadGirlUK · 23/10/2019 23:15

I've got a really nice comfy pair of converse that are not canves with the solid toe, more like a proper skate shoe, but they seem to have vanished from existence now I'm trying to find a link... I like the old school vans and DC shoes for comfort.

Samosaurus · 23/10/2019 23:23

I wore converse non stop in my twenties, but I guess my feet have got wider since then and they give me blisters on my little toes now :(

wasgoingmadinthecountry · 23/10/2019 23:34

I cannot bring myself to like Superga, however much MN tries. They look...wrong. The shape just looks mumsy. Converse for me. Am 55 and far from being one of those naff I only wear Converse because I still go to festival types. Just think Superga are less cool versions, Vans are far too wide.

managedmis · 24/10/2019 01:29

I don't like them at all

I always think people's feet look cold in them

BlackSwan · 24/10/2019 05:52

Have never owned a pair - I dislike them.

Orangecake123 · 24/10/2019 06:05

No you're not the only one! I would never buy another pair now. I had two pairs when younger. The usual black ones and an orange pair.

They always gave me blisters! Fair enough I walked around an hour but none of my other shoes do that.
