It can go too far I think.
There needs to be a little less volume to the dresses, and not all hiker style boots are a good look.

If the model looks this bad, I would look like a toddler in mums clothes

Toast kind of tiptoe around this with styling and I just wish they’d make it a tad sleeker, at least a touch of shape to the waist area or a gradual flare.

I love that white jumper/skirt outfit OP

TheWashingMachine · 20/10/2019 13:06

DH asked me if was moonlighting as a nun when I ordered a similar dress.

NiteFlights · 20/10/2019 16:28
  1. It’s too big, like way too big. I like loose clothes but come on!
  2. Her facial expression and haircut aren’t doing her any favours.
  3. Those particular boots and the dress look really shit together.
  4. The styling, the pose, everything about it looks incredibly ‘will this do?’

Apart from that, I like it ... would prefer a black and white check though.

I wear boots with skirts/dresses all the time, either combat boots or pointy toed ankle boots with long floaty things. (It's been a staple look in the Goth/metal community since I can remember.) I've also seen someone wearing chunky boots with a floral dress and thought that looked quite nice.

But that outfit is all the nope. I'd look like an overstuffed cushion in that and the boots just don't go with it. If it was smaller/more fitted and styled with black patent boots and burgundy/wine coloured tights I think it would look much better.

MarshaBradyo · 20/10/2019 19:22

Oh my

PurpleDaisies · 20/10/2019 19:26

Horrible. Just horrible.

ambereeree · 20/10/2019 21:18

Lol kind of like grunge 90s but exaggerated

BernardBlacksWineIceLolly · 20/10/2019 21:30

left to my own devices i can totally achieve the waistless and dishevelled look. maybe a new career styling for Toast beckons?

I feel similarly to when I look at a fat face mannequin. I basically look like that when I wake up, did someone actually want to achieve that look? blimey

Shitonthebloodything · 21/10/2019 02:48

I actually think this would be ok with a belt, better boots and tights instead of socks.

It's not for me styled as it is but I don't hate it.

Shockers · 21/10/2019 03:20

Her boots look like they’re on the wrong feet and her wrists look cold.

It’s kind of nearly there, but not nearly enough.

SirProjectofThigh · 21/10/2019 07:25

I think it’s partly because the model looks demented. Like a toddler who’s just cut her own fringe.

LunaTheCat · 21/10/2019 09:17

Lancashire Cotton Mill 🤣🤣
I think that you have discovered a whole new style Amythest

Magnificentme · 21/10/2019 09:51

She looks like a rag doll lol

Pukkatea · 21/10/2019 11:43

I don't like any of the dresses in this trend, although this one is particularly hideous.

I don't get the appeal in dressing like a tent. Spotty, floral or tartan you still look like Mrs Doubtfire, or Homer Simpson after he became obese and started wearing mumus. Adding boots to pretend it's edgy...nah.

LilyJade · 21/10/2019 11:53

I remember wearing a long skirt & (cheaper, fake) DMs like the other pic during my grunge period aged 17 in 1993... then I got into drum n bass & it was all forgotten....

TeaAddict235 · 21/10/2019 12:26

Where's this on trend ??

BernardBlacksWineIceLolly · 21/10/2019 13:36

Well as a direct result of this thread I’ve just bought a vintage (aka 2nd hand) ankle length skirt

If I can dig out my old DMs I’ll be laughing

I’d forgotten how much I bloody loved that look in the 90s, but I’ll be doing my best not to look like Toast woman!

ShivD · 21/10/2019 15:04

The boots look odd (wide at the ankle) and the dress is too wide.

This is a look I usually really like, they’ve just got the styling all wrong.

AmethystWoodstar · 21/10/2019 15:12

I don't like any the dresses in this trend either, but only because they don't suit me.

SandraOhshair · 21/10/2019 21:19

It's a style mash up of a Handmaid and Martha. Praise be.

QueenWhatevs · 21/10/2019 21:23

How on earth are you supposed to know whether you've bought the right size?
