It can go too far I think.
There needs to be a little less volume to the dresses, and not all hiker style boots are a good look.

If the model looks this bad, I would look like a toddler in mums clothes

Toast kind of tiptoe around this with styling and I just wish they’d make it a tad sleeker, at least a touch of shape to the waist area or a gradual flare.

A lot of men wouldn’t like this outfit.
A lot of women would not like this outfit
A lot of children would hide beneath it during a thunderstorm.

i'm massively curious what makes it such a nope look?

10/1 on male gaze...

ShagMeRiggins · 19/10/2019 16:06

I don’t mind what people wear if it makes them feel good about themselves.

This wouldn’t make me feel good about myself. Your mileage might differ.

Musicforsnorks · 19/10/2019 16:10

I like the idea. The aesthetic is my thing, I am so glad things are veering away from spandex and skinny jeans but this styling is atrocious. It’s just this particular photo obviously.

i think the haircut kills it dead. but if i'm wrestling the last apples off the tree before the frost hits i'm taking it :D

TheNavigator · 19/10/2019 16:12

I think the boots with socks are particularly ugly, with nicer boots and minus the sludge coloured socks the dress would be less insistently unattractive and could have a certain autumnal appeal. Not that I would be seen dead in it. As a petite 5'1" in her 50s I would look like a wizened child.

youllhavehadyourtea · 19/10/2019 16:12

Well I like it. But I've got a blunt fringe.

Musicforsnorks · 19/10/2019 16:12

I also don’t think this thread has anything to do with judging how people dress. I started it, the intention was to giggle at crappy styling. The model looks like she is ready to go home!

i'm looking at the fabric and thinking surely it's a double-weave. with non-hiking boots and a non-fringe i'd rock it :D

disclaimer

Kleptronic · 19/10/2019 16:17

That could be an excellent dress to go shoplifting in.

Wavingwhiledrowning · 19/10/2019 16:17

She has exactly the same facial expression and stance that I would adopt if someone put me in that outfit. A mix of bemusement and despair.

thetardis · 19/10/2019 16:18

I also think the marketing team consider us to be idiots. They’ve taken a current trend and been sloppy with it. They rarely give you full item/fabric details or photos from the back. I have no idea why people go along with this. They bank on you ordering a load stuff and not bothering to return it - they have no stores as far as I’m aware. Maybe London?

They may be well made, but I dont believe they are customer focused. Yes I think they’re taking the piss. This crap is aimed at a woman of a certain age, with a certain amount of disposable income, and they saw us coming.

That could be an excellent dress to go shoplifting in.

No visible pockets, so the underwear needs to be fit for purpose.

NationMcKinley · 19/10/2019 16:22

She looks like a pissed off toddler that’s been allowed to dress herself after a DIY haircut

thetardis · 19/10/2019 16:24

@nation i take personal offence at your post as someone who cuts their own hair and wears rompers in public Shock Grin

thetardis · 19/10/2019 16:25

nah. i'm still confused at the ruse being perpetuated. price op?

thetardis · 19/10/2019 16:26

height of model?

bluemonkeyspots · 19/10/2019 16:26

It's like that bloody awful REW clothing that a Facebook page I follow is always promoting.
Literally no one looks good in it.

MargotLovedTom1 · 19/10/2019 16:31

What make it such a nope is nowt to do with the 'male case's and everything to do with the wearer looking like Grayson Perry's less stylish twin.

Fuma · 19/10/2019 16:31

Really did they take French and Saunders' dirty old women go on a trip to the scary city as inspiration?

InkyFingersInkyFace · 19/10/2019 16:34

hate the dress, but what fucking irks me so fucking much is the variety of styles which I had never seen but chucked together myself, or were sometimes based on people who looked great in the real dresses and posh boots...

I only recently STOPPED wearing my dresses and skirts with my fucking actual walking boots.

I realise I'm projecting but I fucking hate it when something I've been sneered at for becomes an actual thing and the type to sneer at it end up wearing it.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

If anyone wants to know the next trend, it's wearing regular crocs, all year round, no socks, in the rain.

With 3/4 length trousers/ combats or baggy shorts.

MargotLovedTom1 · 19/10/2019 16:35

...male GAZE, not cases!

thetardis · 19/10/2019 16:37

ah okay, so "female gaze" is the arbiter of acceptability?
