Do these look like orthopedic shoes for grannys?!

Just bought these. Fitflop rally trainers in all black. Have been wearing them round the house today and they are super comfy. Hubby has just come home and said they look like orthopedic shoes, something like his mum (age 90) would wear! Was chuffed with them, but now not sure?!

Frankensteins monster 🤣

They are ugly, but you can always pair them up with your beige polyester elastic waist trousers and blue anorak for when you go and potter round the market

RumpoleoftheBaileys · 18/10/2019 21:11

God. Those are awful.

Wheat2Harvest · 18/10/2019 21:11

It's the platform-type sole that makes them look so ostentatiously orthopaedic. People might just want to check that both your legs are the same length.

I wouldn't have chosen them but if I had and they were comfortable I would still wear them.

RumpoleoftheBaileys · 18/10/2019 21:12

Trying to be constructive - have you tried Sketchers?

zsazsajuju · 18/10/2019 21:14

I think they’re fine. My young au pair wears similar

LittleDancers · 18/10/2019 21:14

Oh my. They are ugly/orthopaedic looking, yes. I'm sure there are plenty of other trainer-type shoes that would look better which are equally as comfy. They cannot be the only comfy shoes for you. It is possible to combine style with practicality, the two are not mutually exclusive! Grin

madcatladyforever · 18/10/2019 21:14

They look like the the orthopaedic shoes our NHS Trust makes for people with disabilities. OK under really long trousers I guess.

stealthbanana · 18/10/2019 21:17

Oh OP. They really are absolutely hideous.

Am laughing helplessly at this thread.

sparklefarts · 18/10/2019 21:18

I'm so sorry op, but I winced.

TheClitterati · 18/10/2019 21:21

They are a similar style to the Hotters XP got for DD to wear to high school - had a thread about it. Replaced them with Kickers.

I do like Fit Flops, have several pairs. But not those.

user1493494961 · 18/10/2019 21:21

Always have comfy shoes and a comfy bed, if you're not in one you're in the other.

Thatnovembernight · 18/10/2019 21:21

I have to wear uglier ones than that to work if that makes you feel better. I have arthritis and am in agony if I don’t. I’ve perfected not giving a shit what other people think though, so that helps Grin

IHaveBrilloHair · 18/10/2019 21:22

Noooooooo

PurpleFrames · 18/10/2019 21:24

I like them (I'm mid 20s)

Bluntness100 · 18/10/2019 21:26

Op, they are bad, but as a pp said, sore feet are worse, so if this is what you need to wear, then, so be it.

totallyradllama · 18/10/2019 21:27

Try white or some other more interesting laces

Gingerkittykat · 18/10/2019 21:27

Just wear them.

I don't think they are either ugly nor pretty, just functional shoes. If they feel good then that is more important than pleasing other people.

AnotherEmma · 18/10/2019 21:29

Alternatives...
Clarks
Superga
Allbirds (I don't particularly like these but they do look comfy and much nicer than the Fitflops)

totallyradllama · 18/10/2019 21:29

And make sure they're laced criss-crossed not parallel

homemadecommunistrussia · 18/10/2019 21:29

I think they look fine. Most people wear uglier shoes than that!

MaybeeMaybeeNot · 18/10/2019 21:32

There is no day, no matter how great, that cannot be spoiled by hurting feet. There is no day, no matter how awful that cannot be worsened by hurting feet.

Wear the shoes to help your feet and skeleton heal and wear fancy heels when he flings you over his shoulder and carries you to bed!

Stopyourhavering64 · 18/10/2019 21:33

I wear fitflop shoes due to a rheumatic feet and any other brand cripple me...having said that , there are nicer styles of fitflop available

HUZZAH212 · 18/10/2019 21:49

It's not like you'll be wearing them for a night on the town. Embrace the comfy and enjoy.

Winter2019 · 18/10/2019 21:51

They're ugly..... But I suppose if it helps your feet, you could make rest of your outfit look nice?!

ducky21 · 18/10/2019 22:14

I think they look great. Don't doubt yourself. If you like them and you are happy with how they look and feel stick with it. You are the one that has to wear them.
