Do these look like orthopedic shoes for grannys?!

Just bought these. Fitflop rally trainers in all black. Have been wearing them round the house today and they are super comfy. Hubby has just come home and said they look like orthopedic shoes, something like his mum (age 90) would wear! Was chuffed with them, but now not sure?!

Can't believe some of these responses. They are plain black shoes and they're comfortable. Keep them!

Most people won't notice your shoes. The only time I used to notice people's shoes at work was when they were brightly coloured or extremely high.

HermioneWeasley · 20/10/2019 13:33

What sort of shallow cunt would laugh at you for having foot problems?

Life’s too short for foot pain. If they’re comfy and work for you then keep them

NiteFlights · 20/10/2019 16:21

Don’t know if I’m seeing something different from others but I think they are okay. It’s all down to the styling - they need to look intentional. I do find black trainers difficult, but with black ankle grazing jeans or trousers, for example, they’ll look good. As for being the most hideous thing ever on this board ... they’re not even close. These have the potential to look cool if styled correctly. Get on Pinterest OP.

Thank you all for your feedback. Trendy DD15 has actually declared them okay and re-laced them again for me. In fact she says they are so comfy she is going to steal them to wear them to school on days when I am not working, So they must be okay!

it's because they're all black, they look like school shoes.
Maybe buy some actual sports trainers with arch supports, or do they make these in white?
Alternatively the school gel sports orthotic inserts are very good and you can buy some nice plimsoles and pop them in.

totallyradllama · 20/10/2019 20:17

That's what I originally meant re laces, you can also skip the top hole if you want to make them look casual/more like trainers.

I might get some Smile

Fightingmycorner2019 · 23/10/2019 07:37

They are like my sons school shoes ! Almost spot on for that ‘must be black can’t be trainees ‘ mandate

I do recemmend reebok classics as THE most comfortable trainers . Very back to the 90s !

c75kp0r · 23/10/2019 07:42

Listen to DD15 and not the insecure meanies - and enjoy comfy feet.

Everafter1 · 23/10/2019 08:41

Who is he, Gok Wan? I have to disagree with a lot of the comments here & it is how you wear something. Agree with your DD. Think most young people would agree.

I'm very fussy when it comes to footwear. They have to look pristine. When it comes to black, it's black on black all the way.

I'm not a fan of a high sole right enough but they're in everywhere! Minus the high sole they are very similar to a very expensive pair I recently bought and get a lot of compliments.

Wear them! Enjoy the comfort!

Neolara · 23/10/2019 08:48

I have them in white which looks fine. However, I agree the black is not good. Maybe just change colour? (Although white trainers are not that practical in winter).

Yes they do.

mummumumumumumum · 23/10/2019 13:23

Those are exactly what i was expecting based on the title.

They're really ugly trainers

SciFiScream · 23/10/2019 13:27

The first picture did them no favours at all. In your photo updates they didn't look so bad. We'd mostly be looking down at them from above so the updates are more realistic. What about getting coloured laces and looking at really fancy lacing styles (it's an art form! Look on Pinterest)

BillywilliamV · 23/10/2019 13:28

I like them!

soreleglady · 23/10/2019 15:41

I saw them in real life. They had a very similar Fitflop pair in a black and white colouring and they looked funky.

Namechangeforthiscancershit · 23/10/2019 17:17

Your DD wants to wear them to school Shock goodness

There was a thread about some similar school shoes that a stupid father had bought for his DD to wear and that had some links to alternatives. I think it was August-ish.

Nah. They'd shred my heels and crush my toes. They do look a bit like something my MIL would have worn, though, only hers would have been beige.

happycamper11 · 23/10/2019 17:25

Am I looking at a different pair of shoes? . They just look like a black trainer/shoe to me. DD has kickers ones v similar for school and she gets loads of compliments about them. Personally I think they are fine OP. Would look cool wothba pair of cropped jeans/trousers

Neptunesgiraffe · 23/10/2019 17:38

They're ok. I probably wouldn't even notice them if they were worn with trousers as they'd be partially covered. I would add a thick gold lace or something to jazz them up.
However, as someone who also has foot problems, I go for comfort over style every time and I dont care what people think.

Namechangeforthiscancershit · 23/10/2019 17:56

Kickers do not make anything like that! Do you have a link?

Namechangeforthiscancershit · 23/10/2019 17:56

And yes to lacing being an art form! Thank god for YouTube!

tumpymummy · 27/10/2019 11:43

Update: I kept the shoes. Have been wearing them a week and they are so comfy. But the best bit is that I was walking with a limp because my foot hurts and now it's so much easier to walk normally in these. Foot still hurts a bit, but infinently better. Cant believe the difference just one pair of shoes makes, when I have tried so many different pairs (that I already own) over the last few months.
