Do these look like orthopedic shoes for grannys?!

Just bought these. Fitflop rally trainers in all black. Have been wearing them round the house today and they are super comfy. Hubby has just come home and said they look like orthopedic shoes, something like his mum (age 90) would wear! Was chuffed with them, but now not sure?!

More like something made especially for someone with a serious foot problem. Definitely medical.

ToodlesnOOdleSAR · 18/10/2019 20:36

They're not the nicest of shoe... But when was the last time you laughed at someone's shoe choice? If you're having problems and these help, wear them proudly! I've arthritis in my toes so comfort comes first for me. Wear them proudly and don't worry about it ☺️

cherryblossomgin · 18/10/2019 20:38

I don't think they are that bad and wouldn't notice someone wearing them. They just look like plain black trainers.

BoudicasBoudoir · 18/10/2019 20:39

Yes. Hideous.

Bunionbandit · 18/10/2019 20:40

One word .... bleurgh 🤮

Lovemenorca · 18/10/2019 20:41

They are the ugliest shoes I have ever seen on mumsnet

And possibly ever seen. Full stop.

Babybel90 · 18/10/2019 20:41

Dear god they’re ugly!

Greenglassteacup · 18/10/2019 20:42

Monstrous

confusedjuly2019 · 18/10/2019 20:43

I love Fitflops but these are truely awful!

Tootytata · 18/10/2019 20:43

I have the white ones. I think they look much nicer than the black ones!

If they're comfy, wear them. It's coming up to winter, predicted a cold one, lots of people will be wearing chunky shoes. I imagine you'll be wearing them with jeans or trousers, in which case I wouldn't notice people's footwear.

Wizzbangpop · 18/10/2019 20:51

Yes they are hideously ugly. However just read your ups at e about having foot trouble so I can see why you are going over comfort over style. Did they not have another colour is stock. Think they would be better in any other colour or perhaps sparkly or something

Sagradafamiliar · 18/10/2019 20:52

Personally I would set fire to them but if you like them, keep them. Who is going to laugh at you?

holidays987 · 18/10/2019 20:57

I'm a fan of fit flops. They are really comfy. But these are serious ugly. Your DH is right.

Much nicer styles to available from the brand.

puppyconfetti · 18/10/2019 20:58

I think they are fine Grin

TheFaerieQueene · 18/10/2019 21:00

They really are dreadful. If you are happy to wear them however, then go ahead.

Underyoursky · 18/10/2019 21:00

They’re really really bad.

allthegoodusernameshavegone · 18/10/2019 21:01

they are fine, wear them for you, no one else matters.

policeandthieves · 18/10/2019 21:01

I think the ones with the white sole look better but overall I actually don't think they are bad. It does depend what you wear them if your clothes are fashionable and a bit edgy they will look fine.

Skyejuly · 18/10/2019 21:02

Il go against the grain as I always want comfy feet over anything else. I don't care what my shoes look like!

Bellyfullofbiscuits · 18/10/2019 21:03

They look like my safety shoes at work.

Oliversmumsarmy · 18/10/2019 21:04

60 and they are hideous

Bluerussian · 18/10/2019 21:05

Wear them with pride, mummy! We must have comfortable feet. Perhaps you could get another pair with a pattern on - no? Well, just a thought. I wear Skechers with a floral design.

Fitflop do some trainers/sneakers that are not quite so old fashioned, would look good with trousers.

Sparkletastic · 18/10/2019 21:05

Yes. They do.

TroysMammy · 18/10/2019 21:06

Just don't wear them with a tartan skirt and flesh coloured tights and bellow "walkies".

or perhaps a pair of dark coloured boot cut trousers and wearing them in the dark would be a better option.

However I've had plantar fasciitis and lace up shoes are recommended and jokes aside it is bloody painful.
