Max wearing a proper sari. Really suits her. Love the emeralds!

What is the purpose of the H and M African dock? Is it to raise awareness of their own 'pain and pressure' or the causes they are supporting?

QueenOfTheAndals · 18/10/2019 06:44

Max looks fab! Here's me in a proper sari over the weekend but I've not mastered the cold-shoulder drape yet.

@QueenOfTheAndals you look fabulous! Gorgeous colours - and are those flats peeking out underneath? Grin

I love the last pic of Max, @CurlyWurlyTwirly. I feel guilty raising it, but what if menopause is affecting her, hence the slightly less 'done' hair recently?

I don't like Leti's outfit you linked to, it's too 90s for me.

QueenOfTheAndals · 18/10/2019 07:13

@Wetdogloveshubert Yes, I realised I'd thrown away my sari slippers in a wardrobe clearout some years ago and had to grab the nearest sandals to hand! But I always wear flats with sari as all that fabric with heels is too much to handle.

Wetdogloveshubert · 18/10/2019 07:21

I'd love an excuse to wear such beautiful jewel colours and that much fabric. Evening wear is just not as exciting from the likes of our high streets!

paradyning · 18/10/2019 07:38

I agree about the posts being ignored or repeated. I'll admit to an internal flounce.
Max and Queen look fab!!

frugalkitty · 18/10/2019 07:45

Your sari is stunning Queen

Curly I read something yesterday about a Harry and his dislike of the press. I'm not sure what I make of it really. I understand that he blames the paparazzi for his mother's death, but part of me thinks it comes across as whining because they want the positive side of press but want to control the when/why/who etc. Like picking the best bits of their life and moaning about the bad without realising how incredibly lucky they are to have the life they have. Harry could easily give up his HRH and opt for a private life, but he'd still have press interest in him and his family, so if he's staying for the protection it offers he ought to stop complaining about it. That probably makes me sound heartless, sorry.

Gooseysgirl · 18/10/2019 07:48

Stunning @QueenOfTheAndals!!! Also Max looks amazing - loving the emeralds with the sari, picks up the green beautifully. Poor Harry... I completely agree that he needs some further therapeutic input to help him cope with the feelings that the click of the cameras bring to him... the cameras aren't going away anytime soon. With my professional hat on, I think CBT might help him. I don't think his legal action against the press will help reduce his personal anxieties (although I do agree with the action he has taken)

WineOrGinOrBoth · 18/10/2019 07:54

Wow Queen you look fabulous.

I feel for Harry but Diana played cat & mouse with the press when it suited her. And she wasn’t wearing a seatbelt when she died & the car was driven by a drunk driver.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 18/10/2019 07:58

Lovely sari @QueenOfTheAndals
Did you drape it yourself? I find them really difficult, but love them for occasions if I’ve got a lot of time and patience to get ready.

However since the Pakistan tour, I’m seriously thinking about ordering some outfits from Zeen!

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 18/10/2019 08:08

@frugalkitty

I think this is the first time that Harry has actually said in public that he blames the press for his mother’s death.
I’m not an expert but definitely think he needs more therapy.
He’s said he has had it in he past; but getting married and being a father has brought up fresh pain.
I do think that his anger is misdirected though. He’s lashing out at the press, and unfortunately it becomes more of a game, for certain sections of them.
I think there is definitely a possibility for him to say he wants to be based in Africa.
His Spencer cousins grew up in SA and very much out of the limelight until W&K’s wedding.
He’s the Commonwealth youth ambassador.
He could have his own photographer and reporter when he is working; instead of a whole pack following, and post what he wants on Instagram.
I’ll probably get flamed for this, but his wife likes the spotlight more than him. She can use it to focus attention on her causes, which is fine.
But between then as a couple they need to decide how much press attention Harry can cope with; based on how much do they actually need to do their job.

banivani · 18/10/2019 08:08

I forget Queen - did you have heritage from sari-wearing regions or was there another reason for how you owned a sari AND learned to drape it? It's lovely.

From Google Arts and Culture (We Wear Culture) on the sari

QueenOfTheAndals · 18/10/2019 08:14

Yes @banivani, I do have Asian heritage. I can't do any fancy drapes @CurlyWurlyTwirly but I can do a basic one ad it's surprisingly easy to pick up from watching a few YouTube videos. Fortunately there were no other Asian people at the wedding I went to so no one had a clue whether it was draped correctly or not!

Just saw on Twitter that W&K have only just got back to Islamabad as they had to stay overnight in Lahore due to the weather.

With Prince Harry, he has always previously had very positive press and public favour (possibly as a direct result of his mother’s death and the awfulness of having to be behind the coffin etc) - he got away with a lot with the nazi uniforms and genera shenanigans and given that, slagging them off would have been very ungrateful. The rest of the RF have suffered from very negative press except maybe Prince William (til last summer). Now he hasn’t got this level of goodwill any more he’s laying into them. Natural behaviour, but a bit like Prince Edward’s strop but on a bigger scale.

I actually do think he would love to step away from his “job”, but with the shadow of the Duke of Windsor as a man seeing as shirking his duty and ruining HMQ’s future, he won’t quit while she is alive. Though I don’t know what he would do (?) and Meghan might not have expected to fade into obscurity. That said, with the press as it is, she might be delighted to do local charity bits and be rich and under the radar.

In other news, I just saw a reporter who had been on the plane with William and Kate saying that it was terrifying turbulence and that when they eventually landed, William went up to the back of the plane to ask if the journalists were alright and said he’d very nearly spilt his vodka and tonic.

QueenOfTheAndals · 18/10/2019 08:34

I don't think Harry can go anywhere until George is of age. Doesn't he have to be on standby as possible regent in case anything happens to his father or brother? I think the present Duke of Gloucester's father had to do the same until Charles was 18 as he was HM's most senior male relative.

Greens and white are quite 'islamic' colours according to some. Barefeet in a mosque is expected.

latedecember1963 · 18/10/2019 08:47

Your sari looks beautiful, Queen. I love the border, is it printed as part of the fabric or embroidered onto the fabric?

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 18/10/2019 08:52

I’m not saying that Harry should quit being Royal. But he could dial it down a bit, and focus on the Commonwealth, where I think he is appreciated more and gets less hassle.
Although not Royal; Peter Phillip lived in Hong Kong and was back for the main events like Trooping the Colour etc.

I also think Princess Eugenie should be a full time Roya.
They need to swell the ranks a bit more.
The Gloucester’s and Kents are in their 80s

paradyning · 18/10/2019 09:11

Love the embroidery on Kate's outfit today. Agree the shoes don't go with the trousers. And the black bag. But then I don't think accessorising is Kate's forte as I've said before.

frugalkitty · 18/10/2019 09:18

Curly well put, I agree with you.

I'm not sure I like Kate's outfit today, and she's definitely missed the mark with her shoes this week. The top today would look better with black trousers I think.

peridito · 18/10/2019 09:25

Wonder if the unscheduled overnight stay in Lahore might be responsible ? Clothes,shoes/dresser etc not all where they should be ?
Lack of time ?
