Hi guys,
I love browsing the what are you wearing today thread but being plussize (Size 26) I often can't take inspiration from it. I wondered if any other size 18+ would like to share what they are wearing today?

Lovely pictures as usual!

When I see people out and about and get a bit 'judgey'- it's not the size or lack of style I'd notice, it's the rookie errors like see though jeggings, or feet hanging out of shoes.

I did see a wedding party where everyone was very very bling- all shiny, skimpy, high heels etc. Then some stand out individuals whose clothes fit and who could walk in their shoes.

Perhaps it's my age, but I'd take the latter over the former any day!

NancyEspana · 03/11/2019 11:43

Yes, that's true for me too popcorn. If I ever have a slightly negative, (obviously inward), comment, it's things like that, or maybe if the MoG turned up to a wedding in a long white dress or something.

I've been there with the shoes, until I wised up a bit. I can't walk in them (basic laws of physics; I'm tall and top heavy - high centre of gravity 😂)!

But normally, people look good to me, unless they look uncomfortable.

Defeatthedebt · 03/11/2019 12:51

Little Sunday outfit lol

I've realised that if you judge me by the 2 photos I've posted I look like I'm animal print obsessed Grin. I'm really not.

Today I'm wearing matalan jeggings, a boohoo black long-sleeved top, Asos Lion King collection jacket and yours boots!

I just wanted to say a massive thank-you to everyone for contributing and getting so onboard with the spirit of the thread! It really is a lovely supportive little corner of MN, long may it continue!

The thread will be full pretty soon so around the 950 mark I will make a part 2 and post the link here. Smile.

Hurray!

Exciting we are getting towards thread 2! Thanks for creating the thread in the first place op. It is a lovely thread.

Love the animal print too!

picklemepopcorn · 03/11/2019 13:41

Ooh, defeat! I love that jacket!

And Yay, a new thread!

Gemi33 · 03/11/2019 14:01

I'm still on the search for flattering dresses for work - don't need to be too smart but everything just looks awful. I've always avoiding swing dresses because I assumed with my big boobs they would make me look even bigger and just a bit like a tent but after seeing them mentioned on this thread I ordered this and it came today -
www.simplybe.co.uk/shop/black-jersey-swing-dress/xf657/product/details/show.action?pdBoUid=1029

While I don't look amazing in it or anything, I have to say it's more flattering than I expected!

xx

SillyBillyBandy · 03/11/2019 14:56

I'm sure it does look lovely Gemi! I've got some nice work dresses from next but never wear them. I like my comfy trousers too much!

picklemepopcorn · 03/11/2019 15:09

What works for me Gemi, is getting some shape in where I can and careful use of a distraction.
I can't see your swing dress- links aren't working at the moment- but a chunky necklace might make it even nicer!

AliasGrape · 03/11/2019 15:15

I like that Gemi I have basically the same dress but it’s from Dorothy Perkins (a good 50% of my wardrobe is actually, though it’s been a while since I found anything that suits in there). I used to love their tea dresses, I had one that I still miss - I gave it to charity for some insane reason and have regretted it ever since. I think skater style dresses can be more flattering than you’d expect, particularly if you can find them with more of a scoop or sweetheart neckline rather than the usual high, round neck they tend to have.

I think wrap dresses are super flattering too.

I bought 3 beautiful and super flattering dresses from Sainsburys in the summer - they were very much summer styles and not the kind you can stick with tights and a cardigan, but I’m hoping that there will be a few similar ones for the new season.

NowWeSuckingDiesel · 03/11/2019 15:55

@Defeatthedebt love your jacket and thanks so much for this thread, it is inspiring so many of us! I haven't worn a dress or skirt in at least 15 years (and only then because it was a wedding outfit) but today when trying on tunic tops i realized that rather than always wearing them with leggings, thick tights and Chelsea boots would be a nice change, and I'm finally getting the confidence to dress as i want /like, thanks to you all. Off to snag i go for some tights!

NancyEspana · 03/11/2019 16:38

Yay! That's so good to read @NowWeSuckingDiesel!!! I think you'll really suit that look.

@AliasGrape, Sainsbury's has been a bit of a revelation for me after following this thread. On my list to try in there is definitely the GF jeans and now dresses. We even have one fairly nearby, so I could even go and try things on there which would be unusual for me, as I never get time. DS seems to get a bit claustrophobic in changing rooms and screams the place down, so I've given up shopping with him. But Sainsbury's is open late, so... evening shopping!

NancyEspana · 03/11/2019 16:50

@ShowerOfShite

I saw your picture earlier and meant to say how much I like your dress! Peacocks is another place I haven't been in ages. I haven't seen one in the area I live in, but then we don't have all that many shops here full stop.

buckeejit · 03/11/2019 17:40

@Defeatthedebt I AM obsessed with animal print. Leopard print specifically. Can't get enough of it & have to assess how many items I can wear in one outfit!

NowWeSuckingDiesel · 03/11/2019 18:30

Thanks nancy if you do any online shopping i recently got some bits from pink clove that i liked. Although some of the styles are a bit hit and miss for me, ie cropped tops and bum skimming shorts, their knitwear and basics are good i have found. But please get bum skimming shorts if that's you're thing and post a toilet selfie!!!

NancyEspana · 03/11/2019 18:33

😂😂😂

The world is not ready for me in a crop top and bum skimming shorts! Otherwise, you know I'd be hopping on to the loo seat for a photo to share that delight with you all... 🙈.

MrsSchadenfreude · 03/11/2019 18:41

Love this thread and have ordered a load of tights from Snag...

I’m wearing Next jeans, straight leg and a T shirt in a blue pattern from Mantaray at Debenhams. It’s still quite warm here and is due to go back to 23 degrees all next week (which is mad as we had snow last November, and a lot of it, which is more usual).

SmokyandtheBandit · 03/11/2019 20:08

I am loving all these pics of you amazing body-postive glamorous women! OP, I esp love your jacket.

@ShowerOfShite I wonder if your dress (pretty print btw) would look less swampy if you cut the sleeves down to 3/4 length? I am short and I find this works better than long frilled sleeves on me, plus my wrists are quite slim so I think showing them off creates an optical illusion, haha! I know, I'm deluded! Anyway, it is just a suggestion and I hope you don't take that the wrong way.

I'm really getting pinafore/dungaree envy now, having seen so many of you looking fantastically slim in them. Will be buying some pronto!

That second Sosander dress is in my basket @AliasGrape. Good to know about the bust area. I might upsize in that case.

I've ordered snag tights in several sizes plus a load of stuff from other places, thank you for all the recommendations (my bank balance is cursing you). I'll post pics when they all arrive.

This thread is also making me think a bit more when I get dressed every morning, like 'how will this look in the thread photo?' So it is a good thing, and hopefully helping me to take a bit more pride in my appearance rather than throwing on the same old shite that makes me look shite and which I don't really give a shite about! Even putting on a visible lipstick (rather than usual nude shade) is a small way of showing myself that I can look good. So thank you OP for making this thread, and for all the contributors.

I look forward to thread 2!!

NancyEspana · 03/11/2019 20:12

OP, everyone loves your jacket Halloween Grin! Is it this season's Asos? I'm not always convinced by their stuff, but I love that!

YY @smokyandthebandit, I know what you mean about dressing with a little more care than usual, because I'm thinking "oh yeah, I am going to post a pic of this"! Definitely a good thing. I feel so much better for it.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 03/11/2019 20:15

Black pencil skirt, grey t-shirt with bird print. Black gilet. Flip flops as I'm at home, was black patent ballets when I popped out earlier...

OvertiredandConfused · 03/11/2019 20:27

Can’t manage to take a photograph I’m afraid but I’m happier with the outfit I’m wearing today than I have been with anything I’ve bought through ages.

This dress from the current season at Next worn with black leggings and knee-high black suede boots. Rather than wear a top under it, I teamed it with this green cardigan and a huge, plain mustard scarf. Everything in a size 22

Got lots of compliments and, for once, didn’t feel like mutton dressed as lamb

AliasGrape · 03/11/2019 20:54

That’s a lovely dress overtired

OvertiredandConfused · 03/11/2019 21:06

Thanks @AliasGrape. I’ve got the green floral one and am thinking of getting the leopard print too.

NancyEspana · 03/11/2019 21:32

@LadyMonicaBaddingham

I love your name!

Not terribly relevant, but when has that ever stopped me before Halloween Grin?

NancyEspana · 03/11/2019 21:33

I love that dress too @OvertiredandConfused.

I wonder if it would work on the large or nork...
