Bit of a boring one - NICE SOAP

Have recently switched to using soap instead of shower gel, but finding the range of bog standard soap scents a bit uninspiring compared to shower gel.

Can anyone recommend a nice tange of scented soap? I can only think of body shop fruit ones from my youth, but haven't been in body shop for ages so not even sure if they still do them.

Veronicat · 05/10/2019 11:19

Highland Soap Company is lovely.

reetgood · 05/10/2019 11:21

Roget & Gaillard Oiellet Mignardise (think I’ve spelled that right). Carnation scent and it’s delicous.

Thecatisboss · 05/10/2019 11:24

Second tkmaxx they have loads of gorgeous soaps

FamilyOfAliens · 05/10/2019 11:24

I buy Waitrose own-brand soap in packs of four - the fragrances are delicious and they are good enough quality to use in the shower.

Another vote for lush!

I like honey I shrunk the kids!

starsinyourpies · 05/10/2019 11:37

I also have Lush Honey I washed the kids and it is great (kids use it too) their shampoo bars also excellent and I feel very smug about all the plastic we are not using. Not found a good bubble bath alternative yet though...

Ooh I remember reading a thread like this last year and it literally changed my life.

I have been using soap ever since, it's life changing! I use pears and the coal soap, but will also buy supermarket own brand and will get Wideye or craft market soaps as a treat. I have to travel for work so I try to stay in the nicest hotel I can get away with and raid the soap supply Grin last time I stayed somewhere which stocked The White Company soap, which is DIVINE. It was the Jasmine and something one, I will definitely buy a proper bar one these little ones are used up. Avocado soap is also particularly lovely on the skin.

I found the nesti dante soaps too big although they did smell lovely. I bought a pine forest one when we were in Italy last summer.

Do not get Dove bars as they are not actually soap.

bingowingsmcgee · 05/10/2019 11:41

fragonard soaps are amazing, if you want a really luxurious one.

MaidenMotherCrone · 05/10/2019 11:42

Nesti Dante..... you can get them in TKMaxx sometimes. Yes they are huge but they last a long, long time.

TheCanterburyWhales · 05/10/2019 11:43

L'Occitane is wonderful. Also, if you buy online there are free gifts and offers all the time.
Nesti Dante aren't bad, get them from Amazon where you can usually pick up a 6 pack for about a tenner. They are massive though and though they smell lovely when you open them, by the time that massive bar has shrunk you don't really smell it anymore.
Good old Woods of Windsor, Roger and Gallet etc also worth a punt. Also another one similar to Woods of Windsor but I can't remember the name

Check out allbeauty for cheaper Roger and Gallet.

All that said, in a fit of nostalgia I got some Imperial Leather and Pears and, whilst the scent has been tweaked, both are still lovely.

I wonder how difficult it would be to cut the ND ones in half. Bread knife?

AwdBovril · 05/10/2019 11:45

TK Maxx, definitely. I buy a couple at a time & store them in my drawers with my clothing, makes it all smell lovely (I can't use fabric softener) & I don't have to find a specific place to keep them.

The Friendly Soap Company are also really good. As are the Yorkshire Soap Company.

Some of the bar soaps from here look good:

Stars, the Lush bubble bars are great. I've always been disappointed with their soap though as it doesn't smell much of anything to me.

Chillisauceboss · 05/10/2019 11:46

Nesti dante!!! I found soap via MN and Neati Dante have almost every scent imaginable (from champagne rose through to lettuce) they last an absolute age and my skin feels lovely. I wash my entire body and face with it!

BunchMunch · 05/10/2019 11:50

Nesti Dante - amazon normally have a six pack of mixed fragrances on offer for around £20. Beautiful and last for ages.

Mustbeoriginal38 · 05/10/2019 11:51

Actually hmm, a lot of those Somerset ones are a bit naff (especially the ‘man’-marketed ones Hmm).

It was their Beauty of Bath one I liked the look of, mainly because it’s oval-shaped like the soap I vaguely recall my Nana using in days of yore.
