Bit of a boring one - NICE SOAP

Have recently switched to using soap instead of shower gel, but finding the range of bog standard soap scents a bit uninspiring compared to shower gel.

Can anyone recommend a nice tange of scented soap? I can only think of body shop fruit ones from my youth, but haven't been in body shop for ages so not even sure if they still do them.

Cornwall Soap Box

English Soap Company. Massive bars, they do smaller guest soaps though, they don't lose their scent like Nesti Dante soaps seem too. Angel is my favourite

Lush soaps double up as air freshener around here!

PiedImperial · 05/10/2019 16:06

Family, when I cut my soap in half, I think rather than using a cutting/sawing action, I just press down hard on top of the blade, and it goes through the soap quite easily.

Otherwise yes, I end up with little flakes of soap everywhere.

Jo Malone soaps are the best quality I’ve ever had.

TKMaxx is good but choose your brands carefully. Asquith and Somerset Triple Milled Soaps are fantastic but seem to be harder to get hold of these days, Arran Aromatics and the Scottish Fine Soap Company soaps are lovely and they have lovely little tins of French soaps as well that are lovely. I always let my soap age after I've bought it as well so have a good stock. NT and EH places are goodd for nice soaps and don't feel like too indulgent a souvenir!

@LavenderAndBeeswax the avocado was my favourite - I really miss it Sad

There's a new brand hitting the supermarkets where I live. It smells amazing and is organic, natural, plastic free, etc. Here's the company website:

I don't use anything else now. Love it.

Occitane verbena
Roger and galley
Pears is my favourite

lotusbell · 05/10/2019 20:54

Agree on the Neste dante soaps, smell lovely but they're too big and last too long - I'm ready to try another one long before the bar is finished!

SallyWD · 05/10/2019 21:01

I buy those big bars at tkmaxx too. Lots of different scents. Good quality soap that lasts for weeks.

ABCDE12344 · 05/10/2019 21:01

I love pears blue soap. Smells lush!

PickleASturgeon · 05/10/2019 21:01

The Sainsbury's Collection Luxury Soaps are nice. £2 a bar.

Lightbee · 05/10/2019 21:11

Dr Bronner are good. The almond one is lovely but they do other fresh scents.

SpanielPlusToddler · 05/10/2019 21:37

I like the Dr Organics soaps from Holland & Barrett, particularly the olive or the lavender.

DontFundHate · 05/10/2019 21:41

The lush naked shower gels are fab

Also love Jo Malone bath soap if you're feeling fancy...

nakedavengeragain · 05/10/2019 21:45

Lush Ro's Argan. Beautiful scent. Fills the bathroom! Easy to slice a bit off as it's like butter!

Deianira · 05/10/2019 22:17

Yorkshire soap are wonderful! The cake ones are fanciest, but I use the bar soaps for everyday. They last brilliantly and I find them really good for my skin, as well as smelling wonderful.

Pinkarsedfly · 05/10/2019 22:24

What soap dishes do you all use? I’ve yet to find one that’s quite right.

DefinatelyAWeeGobshite · 05/10/2019 22:30

I’ve just recently switched to bar soap so am saving this thread for when my current boring bar runs out.

IncrediblySadToo · 05/10/2019 23:42

@Pinkarsedfly. Glad you asked. I’m struggling too I don’t want a heavy one (ceramic or metal) as I’m worried about it getting knocked off and damaging the shower base, I don’t want a cheap plastic one and the beautiful olive wood one I bought in France this summer was still’ bleeding’ after a couple of weeks and has now been reassigned to a dry job!

The soap continues to stick to the tile 🙄

yellowsun · 05/10/2019 23:47

Between myself, DH and DS, we have a few soaps on the go. I’ve ended up getting a silicone sink tidy which fits them all on. Not exactly an item of beauty but it does the job.

I bought the compact Joseph Joseph one yesterday - looks promising so far!

Tracyd32 · 06/10/2019 15:46

I bought a couple from Eleanor Rose soaps on Facebook - they are SLS and paraben free and all natural. My little ones have eczema and I bought the Rose one and there is a grey colour clay one with a name I can’t remember but it’s a staple in our house now. Cleared up my daughters eczema.

Lyingonthesofainthedark · 06/10/2019 15:48

Ernest et gallet is high quality and nice. Old fashioned brand, but loads of different ones.
