There’s no affiliation between the two afaik. I’ve just looked it up and it was founded in 1938, modelled on US magazines LIFE and LOOK.

BertrandRussell · 09/10/2019 13:44

“Bloody hell, I’m 37 next week. Shall I book myself in for a head shaving now?!“
Yes. You can wear a hat til you get an appointment.

Spudlet · 09/10/2019 13:49

😝

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 09/10/2019 14:00

Letizia suits shorter hair more than the indeterminate length she has.

Princess Anne probably washes her hair in Mane n Tail and would sneer at conditioner.

I like her dgaf attitude towards S&B.

Doyoureallyneedtoask · 09/10/2019 14:13

I like her dgaf attitude towards S&B.

You know I always thought the same but after watching the documentary linked further up the thread, I got the feeling she does care. She has an odd style though that I think she wears to set her apart. If she DGAF she would wear clothes that would make her blend in more and jeans etc for casual attire but she doesn’t.....

SenecaFalls · 09/10/2019 14:18

Victorian governess, and not one of the cuddly ones

dgaf attitude towards S&B

As much as I am interested in fashion and pay attention to it in my own life, I really like both of these things about Anne.

Ninkaninus · 09/10/2019 14:20

I think she probably likes what she likes and dgaf about whether or not it meets others’ expectations and/or ideals. You can care about fashion, your appearance and what you wear without caring much about others’ approval.

AdaColeman · 09/10/2019 14:30

I think that amongst older women, there is quite a swing away from the idea that at a certain age hair has to go "up or short". Look at the success of models such as Yazemeenah Rossi, Cindy Joseph and Nicola Griffin with their long flowing grey curls, leading the way for all the rebel grannies!

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 09/10/2019 14:48

Definitely. I’m keeping my hair long and embracing the grey. (Well I have a few; I’m hankering after a dramatic white flash of hair)
As pp said, if you keep your hair in good condition; that’s really the secret to long hair when you’re older.

Most over 70s I see at the moment have Golden Girls hair styles.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 09/10/2019 14:51

Me too, @Seneca, it's just the hair!

beanaseireann · 09/10/2019 14:51

Princess Anne was at the Scotland v Russia rugby game in Japan today. I saw her on the tv. She'll be happy they won. Will William and/ or Harry go to some of the England matches ?

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 09/10/2019 14:53

Letizia a couple of years ago; it’s just the lighting , but she suits a bit of grey

Good old Anne

Ninkaninus · 09/10/2019 15:04

Having had a closer look at Kate’s outfit, I like it even more. Everything about it is right up my street, colours, detailing, shoes, in fact I have several very similar pieces. It’s similar to what I often wear to work. Not the bag though, very envious of that! If I had seen each of those pieces and had money to spare at the time I would almost certainly have bought them. In fact I wish I had before Kate wore them because the top’s already sold out and I can’t afford the trousers right now.

JaimeBronde · 09/10/2019 15:07

I agree with Ninkaninus Kate's outfit today looks lovely.
Though I disagree about Kate having shorter hair. I don't think it would suit her as I think it would make her look older & a bit meh, just like CPM did when she had that Bob.
Kate's hair is fab & in great condition.

I use Mane n Tail (it's very good & also comes in good as emergency shaving foam for your legs.)
Though It does make me laugh when I read the directions on the shampoo bottle, as the first instruction is how to use it on your horse 😂

banivani · 09/10/2019 15:24

Kate's clothes are lovely, what are youse on about. Feel quite inspired by olive and wine together myself.

I can def say that it's a thing that people keep their hair long thinking it makes them look younger. Like those glam housewives programmes on the telly. I do not care particularly either way, but I don't like that there is less and less variety. How are we going to get used to tiaras in short hair if we never see it,?

BertrandRussell · 09/10/2019 15:25

Diana did good tiara with short hair.....

latedecember1963 · 09/10/2019 15:29

Don't worry, Spudlet, I'll be 56 next birthday and have quite long hair, so I reckon you have a few years to go yet. 😄
My mum sometimes mutters about my hair but I just tell her times have changed since the day anyone over 30 had to have a short perm or risk being labelled mutton dressed as lamb. Grr, really hate that phrase!

itswinetime · 09/10/2019 15:30

How are we going to get used to tiaras in short hair if we never see it,?

How are we going to get used to tiaras at all when we hardly ever see them! And when when we do it's the same old ones! I wouldn't mind seeing them on long or short hair I'd just like to see more and some variety! If your reading ladies Wink

BertrandRussell · 09/10/2019 15:37

I think Kate is more lamb dressed as mutton, frankly!

Doyoureallyneedtoask · 09/10/2019 15:50

I think Kate looks lovely but admit when I saw the photo linked above didn’t like her trousers. When I saw other photos (of her standing still and looking straight ahead) they look great! And her shoes are gorgeous!

Disfordarkchocolate · 09/10/2019 15:50

In conflicted about Catherine's outfit today. I love the colours but the trousers/culottes look lovely in some shots and very unflattering in others. When she's still they just hang in a dull and unflattering way, when she's moving they look great.

thisenglishlife · 09/10/2019 16:21

I hate culottes and wide leg trousers with a passion.

I love the bag, shoes and jumper though.

I'm noticing boobs and wrinkles today though - baby? (Lol, I kid! )

Ninkaninus · 09/10/2019 16:23

How could anyone not love that perfect little bag.

So that’s an LV, Dior and Chanel on my list. Might need to save more than £5pw...

MotherofPearl · 09/10/2019 16:30

I think @Disfordarkchocolate has hit the nail on the head about the trousers. They look great in motion but less good just hanging.

Overall I think she looked lovely today. The shoes and bag are both very covetable.
