Yes, a ponytail would have been just perfect. Or maybe a messy bun, à la Meghan! Wink

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 09/10/2019 12:12

Kate’s updos are fab. For that reason alone she should keep her beautiful hair long.
Although today, I suspect she did her hair herself. Anyone can manage a blow dryer. Those sleek ponytails need a bit of help.
I suppose her hairdresser will go to Pakistan, so we’ll see some fancy “do’s”

itswinetime · 09/10/2019 12:13

Is to old for down hair really a thing? And are we saying 37 is old now? I guess someone better warn Meghan before the press find out she has broken a rule! That could be front page news Wink

Personally I think there is a place for both I'm sure we will see some up dos from Kate on the upcoming tour.

Ninkaninus · 09/10/2019 12:15

She could cut her hair quite short and it’d be long and swishy again within six months to a year, tops. I want her to mix things up!!

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 09/10/2019 12:16

I don’t think I’ve ever seen Kate with a Messy hair.
The closest would be her natural curls after George or in the Pacific

It’s so gorgeous.

itswinetime · 09/10/2019 12:22

It would be nice if Kate changed it up but I can't see it most people don't make drastic hair changes once they have found a style do they?

Ninkaninus · 09/10/2019 12:26

If they do it’s usually a big sign of a major psychological shift. Everyone everywhere would be saying are they splitting up, is she having an affair, has she decided enough is enough, etc etc.

If I had her hair and her resources I’d be experimenting regularly.

Ninkaninus · 09/10/2019 12:28

But then I do anyway - in the past few years I’ve had longish hair (not quite as long as Kate’s), a pixie, and now it’s a long bob. I’d experiment even more if I had better hair and more patience, mine’s pretty shit and I can’t be arsed to actually style it.

BertrandRussell · 09/10/2019 12:30

Oh Meghan should cut hers too!

Too old for down hair is definitely a “thing” - in my head anyway!

AudacityOfHope · 09/10/2019 12:34

Would you 'experiment' even thought you're constantly in the public eye, and know that the photos of you will live for hundreds of years? I don't think I'd have the courage!

FiveTwoFaster · 09/10/2019 12:34

Couldn’t wear the trousers myself but I like that she’s in separates and love the rewear of the bag.

I also don’t think 30s is too old to wear hair down - Meghan looks great with her hair down too.

They both probably has to have it up endlessly at home to stop their kids grabbing it. Kate’s hair is pretty good hair, as hair goes.

Doyoureallyneedtoask · 09/10/2019 12:38

Do you think she has magic hair growing powers?

I had a fringe cut in three months ago and it still isn’t long enough to tie back!

Ninkaninus · 09/10/2019 12:43

Yes I think I would, if I had the perfect canvas. She’s beautiful. She’d still look great no matter what she might do, and she has some of the best experts in the world on hand to advise her and to work on her hair. I expect that on some level you have to think fuck it, I’m not going to live my life by the braying of the masses (otherwise you wouldn’t cope). I’d like to think I’d have a whale of a time. Not dismissing the very real problems of being scrutinised constantly, but whether or not people loved or loathed my hairstyle? I couldn’t gaf, tbh.

Ninkaninus · 09/10/2019 12:45

@Doyoureallyneedtoask It’s an educated guess based on the quality and thickness of her hair. Obviously I can’t know it for sure so I guess I should have qualified it with, probably or quite likely.

In any case, at whatever pace, it would grow back. It’s not as if she couldn’t have a fabulous updo ever again...

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 09/10/2019 12:47

I think there is such a thing as too old for down hair. Kate isn't it, yet. The only thing about it is that she could end up looking a bit Real Housewives if she keeps her current style.

Meghan's hair looks very well maintained but too long, it looks very extended. (I don't know if it is).

I don't wish to be mean but Princess Anne is not the best example of an older long haired look. It makes her look like a Victorian governess, and not one of the cuddly ones. I would love to see her hair "fixed".

itswinetime · 09/10/2019 12:52

I think people fall into two groups with hair though don't they, those that are happy to experiment and try anything because it's only hair! And those who stick with a set look/length that they know works most of the time with the most change being a big trim of 2-3 inches.

Going on Kate's love of a set style of outfit I think she is in group 2 so I don't think we will see any experimenting there to be honest. Same for Meghan, in fact I think most of the royal ladies seem to be pretty set in their hair style. Not sure about the European royals??

Doyoureallyneedtoask · 09/10/2019 12:54

*Ninkaninus

I have similar type hair to her and I can assure you that it is very unlikely that it would grow from a pixie to a mid back length in one year!

I think she will cut it to a similar length to Lefi’s In about ten years!

SenecaFalls · 09/10/2019 12:55

I don't think there is any age that is too old for long hair, but "down hair" needs to be in excellent condition, which Kate's still is. Menopause often changes the volume and texture of hair and shorter styles are often easier with those changes. So we shall see. The one thing that I don't like about Kate and Meghan's long hair is the fiddling, touching, and pushing it out of their faces that often happens, especially when they are out of doors. But I have an admitted prejudice there; one of my mother's steel magnolia Southern rules was "a woman should not touch her hair in public." Smile

Ninkaninus · 09/10/2019 12:55

Mary cut her hair quite short once and it didn’t look fabulous. She still looked good, of course, but it wasn’t her best look. So she grew it back out.

Ninkaninus · 09/10/2019 12:59

@Doyoureallyneedtoask Which is why I specifically said quite short. Which in my head isn’t a pixie but maybe a mid to long bob.

I have more than one friend with fabulous genes whose hair grows so fast that they can chop it all off to bob length and have long hair again within a year. But as I said, it was only a guess.

QueenOfTheAndals · 09/10/2019 13:25

That was definitely not CPM's best look. Letizia's bob from a few years ago looked fab though.

I don't really think there an age limit on any hairstyle. I did prefer Kate's when it was a darker chestnut shade but she obviously likes it lighter.

Is Billed Bladet the Danish equivalent of Hello @Ninkaninus? The logo is very similar.

Bloody hell, I’m 37 next week. Shall I book myself in for a head shaving now?!
